Chapter 133: Lin Dazhi, are you satisfied now!
Lin Dazhi finished making his statement at the branch station and prepared to head back.
With a professional legal team on hand, he didn't need to worry about such a small case.
As he walked out the door, he saw Zhou Yue following behind him the whole time; he couldn't help but stop in his tracks, turn around, and ask, "Is there something else?"
Zhou Yue looked at the relaxed and casual expression on Lin Dazhi's face; in the past, she would have already started cursing, but now she truly didn't dare.
She knew the ease and indifference on this man's face were all a facade; if she were to propose the request for Lin Dazhi to forgive her mother now, he likely wouldn't pay her any mind at all.
"What do you plan to do next?" Zhou Yue asked softly.
"What do you mean, what do I plan to do?" Lin Dazhi asked back with a smile.
"About my mother's matter," Zhou Yue said, looking to the side and asking in a low voice.
"Oh, you mean that? We'll just handle it as it should be handled. I am a law-abiding citizen; everything will be based on the court's verdict. Whatever they sentence, that's what it will be," Lin Dazhi said cheerfully.
Zhou Yue stopped talking; she knew Lin Dazhi would say exactly that.
This man no longer held any regard for their past relationship in his heart.
Watching Zhang Xiaoli open the car door for Lin Dazhi, Zhou Yue turned and walked away.
Her car was still parked at the residential complex, but she really didn't have the courage to ride in Lin Dazhi's car again.
Taking a taxi back to the hospital, Zhou Yue didn't see her father, Zhou Dakui; upon asking the doctor, she learned he had already gone home.
Zhou Yue asked about Zhou Xiaojun's condition, and the doctor told her he was still in a coma and had not yet left the critical period.
She sat on the cold hospital chair, her mind in complete turmoil.
After thinking for a moment, she decided to call her father.
The phone rang a few times before it connected, and her father Zhou Dakui's voice came from the other end.
"Hello? Did you see your mother? How is it?" On the other end of the line, Zhou Dakui's voice sounded as if he had a glob of phlegm stuck in his throat, muffled and unclear.
"Dad, why did you go home? The doctor said Xiaojun hasn't left the critical period and needs someone to watch him." Zhou Yue was in a terrible mood and asked with some irritation.
"I sat on the cold bench at the hospital for half the day; my back is about to break. At my age, I can't take that. You and your mother can take turns watching him. By the way, isn't there also Xiaoli? Let her watch Xiaojun!" Zhou Dakui grumbled over the phone.
"Dad, you're still talking about Mom? Do you know what she went to Lin Dazhi's house to do just now?" Zhou Yue was so angry she was about to cry, her voice choked with tears.
"With your mother's temper, what else could she do? Just go over and curse a few times. She's right to curse; that animal Lin Dazhi, doing that kind of thing with Xiaoli—shouldn't he be cursed? If it were up to me, beating him would be getting off easy!" Zhou Dakui cursed and grumbled.
"Dad, you make it sound so easy! Mom went over and smashed up Lin Dazhi's house. Lin Dazhi called the police, and the police took Mom to the branch station. Tell me, what are we supposed to do about this!" Zhou Yue shouted.
"What did you say? Lin Dazhi actually dared to call the police?" Hearing this, Zhou Dakui on the other end of the line jumped up in anger.
"Why wouldn't he dare? You didn't see it—Mom smashed his living room to pieces. That television worth over a million, she smashed it just like that. She really dared to do it!" Zhou Yue said with red eyes.
"Well... wasn't that just in the heat of the moment! This Lin Dazhi is really something. No matter what, that's his mother-in-law; he calls the police just for smashing a few things? How can he be such a piece of work? And you too, you watched him call the police and didn't even stop him?" Zhou Dakui scolded.
"I stop him? Dad, what right do I have to stop him? What am I to him now? Would Lin Dazhi listen to me? Lin Dazhi hired a lawyer and just told me that whatever needs to be compensated will be compensated. I can't manage this matter anymore; you figure it out," Zhou Yue said crossly.
"I figure it out? What can I do? Let Lin Dazhi do whatever he wants! Anyway, if he wants me to pay, I don't have a single cent! If he isn't afraid of people pointing at his spine and calling him the man who had his mother-in-law thrown in the station, then let him make a scene! I'm old, what do I have to fear!" Zhou Dakui cursed on the other end of the line, and after finishing, he hung up directly!
Zhou Yue stood there blankly holding her phone, looking at the disconnected call; after a long while, she let out a scream and fiercely threw the phone against the opposite wall.
After throwing the phone, she covered her face and sat on the chair, wailing loudly!
Her younger brother was in the intensive care unit with his life hanging in the balance, her mother was in the station facing astronomical compensation, her father had simply given up and wouldn't manage anything, and the second-hand older man she had just married was still squatting in prison.
Zhou Yue felt as if all the misfortune in the world had been pressed onto her shoulders.
And all of this was caused by Lin Dazhi!
"Lin Dazhi, are you satisfied now! I know you just wanted to see me make a fool of myself; are you content now!"
Zhou Yue's hysterical screaming and cursing drew many strange looks, but she didn't care at all now.
A phone ringtone came from under her feet; Zhou Yue couldn't be bothered to pay attention, but the ringtone rang with unusual persistence, as if it wouldn't give up until the call was answered.
Zhou Yue looked down blankly and picked up the phone she had just thrown against the wall; looking at the screen, which had shattered into a spiderweb pattern, it was miraculously still working.
The incoming number showed the school office phone; Zhou Yue answered it, and before she could speak, an urgent voice came from the other end.
"Zhou Yue, why didn't you come to work? There's no one to manage the students in your class, and the Director is furious over there." The anxious voice of her colleague, Fang Jie, came through the phone.
"Ah... Fang Jie, I'm sorry, I had an emergency at home and I'm at the hospital now. I was so worried just now that I forgot to ask for leave," Zhou Yue said hurriedly, startled.
"You'd better call Director Ma quickly; he's cursing people over there and even said he's going to deduct your performance bonus," Sister Ma whispered on the phone.
"Mm, thank you, Fang Jie, I understand." Zhou Yue hung up the phone, took a deep breath, and tried to calm her emotions before calling Director Ma.
"Hello? What have you been doing? Leaving your post without authorization during work hours and leaving a whole class of students here—is this how you act as a teacher? Do you have any sense of responsibility at all?"
As soon as the call connected, a barrage of cursing like a string of firecrackers came from the other end.
Zhou Yue shrank her neck and listened honestly to the cursing on the other end, feeling a suffocating discomfort in her heart.
But she didn't dare to get angry at Director Ma; Director Ma wasn't Liu Haibo and wouldn't indulge her, and besides, this matter was her fault—even if she was being scolded, she was in the wrong.
"Director Ma, I'm sorry, I had an emergency at home; my brother is hospitalized, and I was so worried that I didn't manage to ask for leave..." Zhou Yue explained pitifully.
"It's useless to tell me these things. The school just issued new work discipline regulations, and you're the first one to violate them. Zhou Yue, oh Zhou Yue, you really are something. Alright, you don't need to explain to me. Principal Sun is in charge of discipline; go explain it to her. Let me tell you, I've already submitted the report to deduct your performance bonus; Principal Sun has probably already seen it by now." Director Ma said on the other end of the line and hung up directly.
