Chapter 182: Do You Think Everyone Is a Big Shot Like You?
Lin Dazhi finished dressing, ignored Meng Ruolan, who was struggling to make a phone call on the bed, and went straight to the office outside to grab the phone.
"Make arrangements; I am going to see Zhang Zhong now."
Putting down the phone, that photograph surfaced in Lin Dazhi's mind again: Zhang Xiaojuan, that fourteen-year-old junior high school girl, lying on the cold, hard concrete floor, her wide eyes staring at the sky, blood pooling beneath her.
"Zhang Xiaojuan, I will get you justice," Lin Dazhi said silently to himself.
The moment he stepped out the door, Lin Dazhi saw the three women already standing at the entrance waiting for him.
"Lin, everything is arranged. Zhang Zhong is at home, but his emotions are very unstable right now. He is carrying a knife on him; should we take some security measures?" Bai Weiwei said.
"No need, let's go," Lin Dazhi said, walking straight past the women and striding toward the elevator.
Seeing this, the three women said nothing more and followed silently behind him.
Arriving downstairs and getting into the car, Lin Dazhi was somewhat silent along the way.
He looked at the familiar city outside the window and suddenly felt it was somewhat strange.
He had lived in this city for over thirty years, but today it seemed he was getting to know it for the first time.
Twenty-some minutes later, the car stopped downstairs at an old residential building in a neighborhood.
Lin Dazhi got out of the car and immediately said to the three women and the accompanying security personnel, "None of you need to go up; I will go by myself."
The security personnel hesitated, but the three women nodded in unison.
"Lin, we will wait for you downstairs then; if anything happens, just call us," Bai Weiwei said.
Among the three women, she was the first to follow Lin Dazhi, and by default, she was the leader. When she spoke, it represented the intentions of the other two women.
Lin Dazhi nodded, then turned and walked into the stairwell.
Climbing up to the fourth floor, Lin Dazhi saw that dilapidated iron security door and the white flower hanging on it; he sighed, then knocked on the door lightly.
"Who is it?" a weary male voice sounded from inside.
"Is this Brother Zhang Zhong's home? I am Lin Dazhi. I would like to talk to you about your daughter, Zhang Xiaojuan," Lin Dazhi said.
"Clatter!"
The next moment, the somewhat dilapidated security door was opened, and Zhang Zhong's figure appeared behind it.
Lin Dazhi sized up this man: nearly forty years old, yet his hair was already graying; on a face covered in stubble, a pair of bloodshot eyes were full of exhaustion.
Lin Dazhi looked at Zhang Zhong, and Zhang Zhong was also sizing up Lin Dazhi.
His gaze was filled with vigilance.
The man before him was tall and strong, with an extraordinary aura.
"General Manager Lin, I know you. What do you want to say to me about my daughter's matter?" Zhang Zhong asked guardedly.
"Can I go in to talk?" Lin Dazhi asked.
Zhang Zhong did not speak, just stood there motionless.
Lin Dazhi nodded at him and slipped into his home.
Zhang Zhong's home was very messy; in the two-bedroom apartment, clothes, trash, and takeout boxes were thrown everywhere in the living room and bedroom, filled with an unpleasant odor.
Sitting on the sofa in the living room was a woman with disheveled hair, clutching a rag doll in her arms and holding a baby bottle, feeding the doll.
"Xiaojuan, be good. Mommy will mix a little more, okay? After you finish drinking, we'll sleep. Oh, oh, don't cry, don't cry," the woman said while stuffing the bottle into the rag doll's mouth.
"She is..." Lin Dazhi looked at the woman and turned back to ask tentatively.
"Crazy," Zhang Zhong said, sitting on the sofa and pulling out a cigarette to smoke by himself.
The next moment, he turned his head to look at Lin Dazhi, exhaled a puff of smoke, and said, "Didn't you say you wanted to talk to me about my daughter? Speak."
Lin Dazhi nodded, moved a chair, and sat down opposite Zhang Zhong.
His gaze swept over the man, and seeing a knife tucked into his waistband, he pointed at it and asked, "What is that for?"
Zhang Zhong looked down, then looked back at Lin Dazhi and said, "To kill beasts. My daughter didn't jump off a building because of depression; she was murdered by someone."
Lin Dazhi nodded and said, "Do you know who it is?"
"General Manager Lin, why are you so concerned about my family's affairs? Does this have anything to do with you?" Zhang Zhong asked vigilantly.
"You know me?" Lin Dazhi asked in return.
"I know. You are a celebrity in Jiangzhou, the Time Reversal Instrument, a high-tech product worth tens of billions. Why would a big shot like General Manager Lin care about our family's affairs?" Zhang Zhong continued to ask.
Lin Dazhi did not answer his question but instead stated several names directly.
"Zhao Xiaolong, Zhuang Ruibo, Ye Yaoyang, Su Yuze."
Upon hearing Lin Dazhi say the names of these beasts, a sharp glint suddenly erupted in Zhang Zhong's eyes, and he stared fixedly at Lin Dazhi!
"How do you know the names of these four beasts?" Zhang Zhong said, gritting his teeth and glaring at Lin Dazhi.
For the past few days, the names of these four beasts had been circling in his heart, tormenting him every single moment!
"Then how did you know?" Lin Dazhi asked in return.
"I have my own ways!" Zhang Zhong said.
"You are a former scout; it's not strange that you could find this out. Since you found out, why haven't you taken revenge, and why are you still staying at home?" Lin Dazhi asked.
"Revenge? Heh, General Manager Lin, you say it so lightly! Do you think everyone is a big shot like you? Those four little beasts have money and power, and everyone helps them. I can't even see those four little beasts right now, so how can I take revenge? Huh? General Manager Lin, you tell me, how do I take revenge?" Zhang Zhong asked with red eyes.
"I am no big shot. Half a year ago, I was doing worse than you. At least you still have a stable job; I was forced to deliver food, and my wife was cheating on me and divorced me. Although I'm doing well now, I have never felt that I am any big shot. Forget it, let's not talk about that. I came to see you today to tell you: if I give you a fair chance to take this revenge, would you dare?" Lin Dazhi asked.
Hearing this question, Zhang Zhong gave a miserable smile, pointed at his wife who was "feeding" the doll, looked at Lin Dazhi, and said, "General Manager Lin, I'm already like this, what is there not to dare? Huh?"
Hearing his words, Lin Dazhi nodded and said, "Fine, then come with me."
"Wait!" Zhang Zhong asked in a hoarse voice as he saw Lin Dazhi stand up.
"What is it?" Lin Dazhi asked, turning back.
"You still haven't told me why you want to meddle in our family's affairs. What does this matter have to do with you?" Zhang Zhong glared at him and asked.
"The fathers of these four little beasts want to curry favor with Li Yongquan—oh, by the way, Li Yongquan is the next head of the Li Family. He had some conflicts with me before, so he wants to target my company and the people around me. The Vice Principal of Seventh Middle School, Sun Xiaomei, is on my side; they wanted to target her, and then this incident happened. I am very sorry that this matter implicated you," Lin Dazhi looked at Zhang Zhong frankly and said earnestly.
