Chapter 2925: We Have Returned
King Shen Wang He Chuanhua rose to power in Heishuicheng, so all of Shen's civil and military officials had to know his rags-to-riches story by heart. Mention Heishuicheng and one must mention Hongya Road; mention Hongya Road and one must mention the Panlong Wasteland; and mention the Panlong Wasteland, and the one who cannot be left unmentioned is the Red General of Panlong Ancient City, and the Great Wind Army she single-handedly raised!
Ji Shiyi was naturally well acquainted with the Red General's reputation; upon hearing the form of address used by Jin Guang and the others, her first reaction was "How is this possible?"
A dead spirit from two hundred years ago, returned to the mortal world?
At this moment, the Panlong Army pouring out of Panlong Ancient City was still an unending stream. The heroic spirits of Panlong needed a "solid, tangible" process to return from insubstantiality to substance — that is, receiving bodies from Lord Yinshen, settling their souls, confirming all was well, and only then could they enter the world with a thunderous boom by the power of the Great Square Pot.
This process consumed much time, and required sequencing; it could not be accomplished in a single stroke.
The Red General stowed the Sequence-Order Divine Authority and asked Immortal Mingke: "Why did you come so late?"
The Panlong Secret Realm could not hold out, so Immortal Mingke went to fetch reinforcements. But they arrived a little late; had the Panlong heroic spirits not returned to the mortal world, Jialou Tian would have already occupied Panlong Ancient City by now.
Just four short words brought unprecedented pressure upon Immortal Mingke.
The awe the Red General exerted on him was actually even stronger than that of the Nine Nether Emperor Lord!
Immortal Mingke steadied his mind, subconsciously straightened up, and then recounted what he had just encountered.
As it turned out, his rendezvous with Ji Shiyi had gone fairly smoothly; the two sides exchanged tokens and gained mutual trust. The Shen army led by Ji Shiyi was about to enter the Trapped Dragon Cave when, unexpectedly, ten Heavenly Demons arrived to intercept them!
Immortal Mingke recognized at a glance that these were the Heavenly Demons previously held outside the field by Jin Guang with all his might. After breaking Jin Guang's minor dao-chang, they came to intercept the reinforcements for the Panlong Secret Realm.
The Shen army numbered a full twenty thousand and originally did not fear them, but being delayed by them still cost no small amount of time.
Hearing this, the Red General immediately assigned tasks.
After Jialou Tian's head was taken, there were still eleven or twelve Heavenly Demons roaming the Dimu Plains; this force the Red General absolutely would not let escape. Therefore the Panlong Army and the Shen army split into multiple routes and scattered across the Dimu Plains to hunt down the Heavenly Demons.
With the Red General leading, plus Dimu's enemy-searching and friendly-force-teleporting divine abilities, in less than half a double-hour every Heavenly Demon on the plains was flushed out, not a single one remaining!
As for the ten Heavenly Demons who had already reached the Trapped Dragon Cave, they likely received news that the overall situation was lost, so they no longer headed for the Dimu Plains but turned and fled out of the cave.
The Red General paid them no heed, only ordering that the remnants on the battlefield be swept clean.
Just after Jialou Tian's head was taken, the red mist shrouding the entire Dimu Plains underwent another change.
It drifted toward the sky, vast and mighty, and left the Trapped Dragon Cave a stretch of clarity.
The originally dispersed mist and vapor re-coalesced in midair into a mist dragon, stretching and soaring.
At that moment a corner of the thick clouds covering the sky was peeled back, scattering ten thousand rays of golden light. The mist dragon rose straight into the light, its whole body bathed in sunlight.
Everyone watched with their own eyes as it flew unhurriedly into the sea of clouds.
Then came a bolt from the blue — seven strikes in total.
Lightning flashed and thunder roared within the sea of clouds; as the first six bolts lit up, people could see a colossal dragon shadow within the cloud sea, and even hear a long, heroic dragon chant.
If this mist dragon had a spirit, it should also be joyful and delighted.
But when the seventh lightning bolt slashed across the sky, the cloud sea was empty and hollow, nothing at all.
The mist dragon vanished.
Just ten-odd breaths later, the wind dispersed the clouds, and the sky cleared.
Above the clear sky and white clouds, there was nothing.
The mist was gone, the dragon was gone, as if it had never existed at all.
This world-shaking great battle finally settled into dust; the Dimu Plains were littered with broken tiles and ruined walls.
Sunlight spread across the Trapped Dragon Cave; all Panlong soldiers and civilians closed their eyes toward the sky, feeling the warmth of the sun on their faces.
Many people unknowingly had tears streaming down their faces.
They had originally thought their memories would only end on that bloody, terrifying, brutal night.
But separated by two hundred years, they actually saw the morning sun of the mortal world again!
Still so beautiful, vigorous, and full of hope.
No other moment could make them feel so truly real:
"We, have returned!"
The other Heavenly Gods were mostly executed; only three captives remained.
Now they were just like mortals, their legs broken, forced to kneel before the Red General.
After experiencing this bloody battle, their gaze toward the Red General was still filled with hatred and disbelief.
Just now they were clearly about to win; as long as they broke through the Panlong city walls...
"Don't get cocky; the descent of the gods is a settled outcome, it won't change because of the Great Square Pot's ownership." A captive said hatefully, "We can destroy you once, we can destroy you a second time! You went through untold hardships to live again, only to come experience the pain of perishing once more."
They also saw that they had absolutely no chance of survival, and did not intend to beg for mercy.
The Red General's answer was two spear thrusts, respectively piercing the throats of two captives.
Then the bloodied spear tip moved before the third captive's eyes; the latter's complexion changed slightly, but he immediately said:
"Come on, I'm not afraid of you!"
"Your fearlessness is only because this is merely an avatar." The Red General saw through its reliance at a glance; this Heavenly Demon was not a full divine descent. "Then you can deliver a message for me."
She leaned forward slightly: "Go back and tell the Lingxu Saint Venerable: we are waiting for Him in the mortal world. Over these past several thousand years, the accounts between Miti and Him, between Panlong and Him, should all be settled."
After she spoke, the third captive was also executed. But the Red General changed methods, no longer stabbing the throat; instead she drew the Floating Life Blade and directly beheaded him.
Immediately a streak of blue light emerged from the severed head and flew toward the sky.
No one obstructed it; they let it fly away, returning to the Heavenly Realm to deliver the verbal message.
This earth-shaking great battle that nearly prematurely decided the fate of the mortal world ultimately had its ending changed by the bizarre appearance of the Red General and the Great Wind Army.
The Red General didn't care about the corpses lying haphazard across the battlefield or the rivers of blood; she tilted her head back toward the sky, closed her eyes, and let out a long breath.
Two hundred years — she could finally breathe freely in the mortal world again!
The expressions of the Great Wind Army and the Panlong Army were likewise relieved and satisfied, just like hers. Having just returned to the mortal world and slain dozens of Heavenly Demons, the taste of revenge was truly too sweet!
They had waited bitterly for this day inside the Great Square Pot's world for far too long, far too long.
Jin Guang had been waiting at the side for a long time; seeing her walk toward the city interior, he hurried over and asked: "May I ask, what is the General's relationship with our Emperor Lord?"
The Red General ignored him and strode forward.
Ling Jinbao felt a little embarrassed, about to touch his nose, when someone came over and asked, "Are you a subordinate of Hu Yi?"
"Hu Yi?" Ling Jinbao heard a new term, "Who is Hu Yi? And who are you?"
This person was graceful and refined in appearance, exactly Shi Shichu.
"Hu Yi is He Lingchuan; in our world, he is the Hu Yi General of Panlongcheng," Shi Shichu said with a smile, "What, is he also a regional lord in reality?"
