Chapter 111: Kill Them All
Captain Ba Lu, who had been furious moments ago, deflated like a punctured balloon the moment he heard Ding Huan's words, his anger gone entirely.
Exactly—if everything's gone now, what's the point of talking about consequences?
If Zang Yu Dinghui surrenders to Ding Huan, there might still be a sliver of chance for consequences; if he resists…
Captain Ba Lu instinctively glanced at the ten corpses still lying on the ground, his will to resist vanished completely.
"I have another technique—Soul Search. You may not have heard of it, but that's fine—I can try it on you." Ding Huan said, walking toward Captain Ba Lu.
Ding Huan had heard of the Soul Search technique, but the claim that he could perform it was pure bluff.
All he could do with Soul Search was use his true energy to seep into the other's skull and turn their brain matter into a mushy mess.
Upon hearing Ding Huan's words, Captain Ba Lu instinctively shuddered.
He knew Soul Search well—it was one of the tortures of Zhan Shen Continent. He would rather die than be subjected to it.
Besides, he had many secrets he refused to reveal.
"I can let you take control of Zhan Shen No. 1 Battle Disc, but you must not perform Soul Search on me." Captain Ba Lu did not beg for his life—he knew Ding Huan would never spare him.
He was no Zang Yu Dinghui; he was far too rational.
"Fine." Ding Huan agreed without hesitation.
Taking control of the battle disc was simple—if the owner consented, the disc could be transferred at any moment.
Within just a few minutes, Ding Huan had fully taken control of the colossal Zhan Shen No. 1.
Ding Huan's spiritual sense immediately landed on the energy chamber.
To his delight, the energy chamber contained at least one hundred thousand Zhan Shen crystals, and the true source replenishing the chamber appeared to be an energy vein.
Ding Huan estimated the vein's length to be at least ten meters.
In addition, there were at least one hundred thousand energy particles.
"Hahaha, Brother Ding, I've taken control of Zhan Shen No. 2 Battle Disc…" A booming laugh came from outside.
The Zhan Shen Continent's elites had been holding a meeting on the main battle disc when Ding Huan wiped them all out; Zhong Chi, upon reaching No. 2, had barely lifted a finger to seize control.
Ding Huan was about to speak when his expression changed—he had just rushed to the entrance of No. 1 Battle Disc and saw a ship outside surge into the sky and vanish instantly.
Someone escaped?
"Brother Ding, a warship just fled—should we chase it?" Zhong Chi had also seen the escaping vessel.
"Big Brother, I know who left." Qi Qi Xinyue and Lao Liu rushed up, panting.
"Who?" Ding Huan asked.
"That dung beetle—he boarded the ship a while before I noticed. I ran straight here to warn you, but he moved so fast, he took control of the ship in barely ten seconds." Qi Qi Xinyue sounded uneasy.
After all, Ding Huan and Zhong Chi had been occupied, yet she had failed to watch the remaining ship.
Ding Huan waved his hand: "It's not your fault. That guy is far stronger than you and excels at modifying ship programs."
The only thing puzzling Ding Huan was how the dung beetle had reattached his severed leg.
Even if he had reattached it, how could he have recovered so well in less than a month?
But now that he knew it was the dung beetle, Ding Huan had no intention of chasing him.
First, he'd never catch him—the moment the dung beetle took off, he would have severed all links to the battle disc, even destroyed the connection protocols.
Second, the guy would never dare return to Earth. Given his cowardly nature, he wouldn't come back unless he was certain he could beat Ding Huan.
Ding Huan genuinely admired the guy—he had chosen the perfect moment and executed the escape flawlessly.
If the dung beetle had acted earlier, Ding Huan would have spotted him and killed him before entering the battle disc. If he had waited too long, Ding Huan would have had Zhong Chi hold him off.
If he had waited even later, Ding Huan would have finished handling the battle disc, leaving him no escape.
But the dung beetle had begun hacking the ship's startup program precisely when Ding Huan was accepting the battle disc's authorization—when his spiritual sense was naturally not extended outward—and he had unlocked the ship's systems the instant Ding Huan took control.
The timing was as if they had planned it together.
Through the dung beetle's timing, Ding Huan confirmed two things: though cowardly, the dung beetle possessed no lack of courage when facing mortal danger.
Second, the dung beetle had clearly predicted Ding Huan would come here to punish the Zhan Shen Continent's people—and was certain Ding Huan would win—so he had lain hidden nearby, waiting for him to arrive.
This guy could even guess that Ding Huan would extend his spiritual sense—meaning he was terrifyingly meticulous.
"Brother Ding, shall we go meet the Federation troops now?" Zhong Chi was ecstatic.
Controlling No. 2 Warship and crushing all the invaders—what could be more thrilling?
"Wait."
Ding Huan turned to Zang Yu Dinghui: "Didn't you say only you had authorization for Zhan Shen No. 2 Battle Disc?"
Zang Yu Dinghui's face paled—No. 2 Battle Disc certainly wasn't accessible to him alone.
Seeing Zang Yu Dinghui's expression, Ding Huan said coolly: "Looks like your value is limited."
"No—I still know the location of the Zhan Shen Continent's teleportation vortex…" Zang Yu Dinghui panicked.
Captain Ba Lu glanced at Zang Yu Dinghui but said nothing.
He was going to die anyway—what did it matter to him what happened to Zhan Shen Continent?
"Where?" Ding Huan asked calmly.
His tone was calm, but his heart was anything but.
A cosmic teleportation vortex—that was what he desperately needed to know. It might be his only way to leave Earth.
"On Captain Ba Lu." Zang Yu Dinghui pointed at Captain Ba Lu.
Without waiting for Ding Huan to ask, Captain Ba Lu pulled a leather pouch from his person and tossed it to Ding Huan.
Ding Huan had clearly seen him collect every other person's pouch—he had left Captain Ba Lu's because Captain Ba Lu was still alive.
Ding Huan's spiritual sense probed the pouch: over a hundred Zhan Shen crystals, plus some unfamiliar potions.
Finally, he pulled out a gray-brown spherical object—its material unknown, yet it functioned as a directional sensor.
As Ding Huan stared at the dense patterns on its surface, he felt his head grow dizzy after only a few moments.
"Impressive. He's an eighth-level genetic cultivator with divine sense, yet he can't observe these patterns for long either."
His divine sense seeped in, and inside this grey sphere the patterns seemed just as densely packed.
"This can sense cosmic transmission vortices. As long as you get near a transmission vortex, a red directional arrow will appear on the sphere." Baru explained calmly.
He was cooperating with Ding Huan simply because he didn't want to be soul-searched.
"Isn't that right?" Ding Huan's gaze fell on Zang Yu Dinghui.
Zang Yu Dinghui hurriedly nodded: "Yes, this was passed down from Zhan Shen Continent. The entire Zhan Shen Continent only has two cosmic guidance spheres, and this is one of them."
Ding Huan nodded, raised his hand, and a wind blade slashed across Zang Yu Dinghui's neck. Zang Yu Dinghui didn't even have time to think he would be killed before he lost consciousness.
Baru showed no surprise at all at Zang Yu Dinghui being killed. If Ding Huan hadn't killed Zang Yu Dinghui, that would have been the strange thing.
"Brother Ding, this guy can't be killed. We need to hand him over to the Federation—this concerns Earth's future." Seeing Ding Huan kill Zang Yu Dinghui, Zhong Chi, worried Ding Huan would kill Baru next, hurried to dissuade him.
Ding Huan sent another wind blade over, and Baru's head was chopped off by Ding Huan just the same.
Zhong Chi gaped. He hadn't expected that even after his persuasion, Ding Huan would still kill Baru.
"Old Zhong, don't throw around 'alliance' this and 'federation' that in front of me. I can guarantee that keeping this Baru around would only be a disaster in the future.
Heh, I know too well what those so-called alliances and federations are really like." Ding Huan let out a 'heh,' which counted as giving Zhong Chi an explanation.
Zhong Chi sighed; there was nothing he could do about it.
Ding Huan had deep prejudice against the Federation, and there was no way he could talk him out of it.
Ding Huan walked to the battle disc's control console and pressed the command to summon the soldiers.
In just a short while, over thirty soldiers from Zhan Shen Continent rushed out.
Zhong Chi stared blankly at the several dozen soldiers who had rushed out. After a good while he said, "I thought I'd killed all of these people off. How are there still several dozen left?"
"Stop wasting words, hurry up and kill them." Ding Huan said.
Zhong Chi didn't hesitate, charged down, and the Starry Sky Blade in his hand whipped up blade light.
Without the Undying Spiders and the Light-Binding Crossbows, these ordinary soldiers were no match for Zhong Chi at all.
Zhong Chi clearly had his old habit acting up again—at the end he still left two alive.
But Ding Huan gave him no face as usual, raised his hand and sent two wind blades over, killing the trouble Zhong Chi had left behind.
"Sigh, Brother Ding, what are you…" Zhong Chi said, a bit helpless.
"Old Zhong, do me a favor—move the stuff here onto my Blue Signal." As Ding Huan spoke, he had already opened the energy chamber.
A ten-meter-long energy vein was revealed.
"Brother, you're taking this energy vein?" Zhong Chi asked Ding Huan in surprise.
In his view, this should be handed over to the Federation.
"It's my spoils of war—why wouldn't I take it?" Ding Huan countered.
Zhong Chi was quite helpless. He thought of the energy vein on War Disc Two and hurriedly asked, "Brother, what about the energy vein on War Disc Two?"
Ding Huan's divine sense had already seen that War Disc Two also had an energy vein about six or seven meters long.
In Ding Huan's mind, he was going to take that one too.
Zhong Chi quickly said, "Brother, this War Disc Two is under my control—leave it to me. I'm still planning to take the war disc to the Human Corridor defense line and wipe out those fierce beasts."
Ding Huan hesitated, then said, "Fine, but I won't leave the Zhan Shen crystals on it for you. Having too much of this stuff is useless to you—it'd just benefit someone else."
"Leave me a thousand, I need to give some to Seeing Qu Yi later." Zhong Chi hurriedly reminded Ding Huan.
Ding Huan had Qi Qi Xinyue and Lao Liu help together, moving nearly a hundred thousand Zhan Shen crystals and energy veins onto the Blue Star.
The Zhan Shen battle disc was a good thing, but Ding Huan knew very well that if he really wanted to leave Earth for the cosmos, battle discs weren't practical—big space, big consumption.
It was certain that without those two energy veins, the battle disc couldn't have reached here at all.
