Chapter 676: New Weapon
With the successive defeats of the five great demons,
the Earth's defense line, which had nearly collapsed, miraculously held firm again; as time passed, the Earth Demons and Sky Demons began retreating, a shift that instantly filled the exhausted evolutionists with exhilaration.
The Sky Demons' retreat was unavoidable—since the great demons had been slain by Earth's experts, staying would mean certain death.
Thus, what had been a promising situation turned into a catastrophic rout.
"The Sky Demons want to retreat? I'll cut them off and help rescue others." Li Yi, seeing their momentum broken, had no qualms about pressing the advantage—he couldn't touch the great demons, but he could handle the Sky Demons.
"Be careful," Xuan Yuezi said, not stopping him, only offering a warning.
She could see that Tai Yi had no trouble defeating Sky Demons; as long as no great demon intervened, Tai Yi faced no mortal danger on this battlefield—after all, he wore the Mid-Grade Dao Artifact, Chi Yu Zi Jin Armor, and even if he couldn't win, he could certainly protect himself.
"Tai Yi, I forged you a weapon—take it and kill your foes." The Bald Daoist waved his hand, and a spear tore through the heavens, flying straight toward him before halting before his eyes.
"Good, thank you, Daoist." Li Yi didn't hesitate—he seized the spear and immediately imprinted his soul mark upon it.
Then, he communed with its spirit and learned some of its properties.
It was a Mid-Grade Dao Artifact: Shattered Star Spear.
Named by the Bald Daoist, its name was plain, but its power was formidable—just a single swing sent shimmering divine light and chilling radiance flashing, effortlessly rending the sky.
Li Yi couldn't help but feel delighted.
He had been lacking just such a weapon—using Bao Yue Bow and Wu Jin Arrows every time was far too extravagant.
And he had only one Wu Jin Arrow left; the other had been snatched away by some Sky Demon during the chaos—what a pity.
"Test this Dao Artifact on a Sky Demon." Li Yi locked onto one retreating Sky Demon.
Though the demon flew at incredible speed, Li Yi caught up using his Cloud Riding and Mist Stepping technique.
"Who?"
The Sky Demon roared, sensing danger—he instantly wove countless ancient scars into his ancient battle blade, then unleashed a torrent of demonic power, forming a colossal blade of energy that slashed toward Li Yi's direction.
Whoever targeted him, to the Sky Demon, was an enemy—and must face his full force.
"Shattered Star Spear." Li Yi rode the clouds in, immediately channeling magic power to raise the spear.
Divine light wove together—the spear erupted with Dao Artifact power, the radiance converging into a spearhead that met the demon's terrifying slash head-on.
But the next instant,
the woven scars and demonic power coalescing into the blade Gang were violently torn open by a jagged gash—wherever it passed, demonic power shattered, ancient scars dissolved—this attack had been pierced clean through by Li Yi's spear.
"How is this possible?" The Sky Demon gasped in shock—then saw the spear hurtling straight toward him.
Too fast—could he block it?
The demon had no confidence, but still raised his blade to parry.
Though weapons from the Demon God Realm were excellent, how could they compare to a Dao Artifact specially forged by the Bald Daoist? And this one, already Mid-Grade, was designed for slaughter.
Instantly,
the demon's great blade was struck by the spear and exploded into fragments.
The spear then pierced straight through his chest.
Severely wounded, the demon spat blood, roared in fury, and immediately broke away to flee—he dared not fight Li Yi further; the weapon disparity was too great, and continuing would mean certain death.
Only if several Sky Demons surrounded and killed him together could they hope to stand against him.
"Excellent Shattered Star Spear," Li Yi murmured, impressed.
With this weapon, killing a Sky Demon would no longer be as difficult or arduous as before.
Facing the fleeing Sky Demon, he extended a finger, condensing an ultimate radiance upon it.
"Split Rivers into Land."
A supreme killing Dao technique was unleashed.
Normally, the Sky Demon could have evaded this strike—or even endured it with demonic power—but now he was wounded, panicked, and focused only on escape, so he made no defense.
Instantly,
the demon's body was severed, and several nearby Earth Demons caught in the technique's radius were instantly killed.
"Good—my forged Dao Artifacts are truly effective," the Bald Daoist nodded, watching: "Since arriving on Earth, we should forge more killing Dao Artifacts—discard all those useless trinkets."
He adapted to the environment—knowing Earth's battles were constant; forging Dao robes, gourds, or fly whisks would be a waste. Only spears, swords, and armor for combat were worth making.
After killing one Sky Demon, Li Yi realized something.
He scanned the surroundings—no one else remained on the defense line he was responsible for.
Su Mu, Tao Sheng, Pan Hongjie, and Lu Yi had vanished.
He didn't know if they were fighting elsewhere—or if they had already died in this battle.
"Look for them. My immediate danger is over—I should try to save them if I can." With this thought, Li Yi rode the clouds away.
The three Flower Realm experts did not follow—so long as no great demon remained on the battlefield, they had no fear for Li Yi's safety.
Li Yi circled the defense line.
Finally, he found Su Mu one hundred kilometers away.
Su Mu was drenched in blood, her nanofiber suit shredded beyond repair, exposing pale skin—had she not possessed the extraordinary physique of an evolutionist and cultivated multiple arts with immense potential, she would have died long ago.
Her opponents were weak—only three Earth Demons.
Had Su Mu been in full condition, she could have killed all three—but she was severely wounded, seemingly struck by a Sky Demon, leaving her unable to even handle these Earth Demons.
"Earth Demons' strength equals the Spirit God Realm of evolutionists; but because evolutionists cultivate multiple arts, ordinary Earth Demons are no match. Sky Demons equal the Spirit Tribulation Realm, yet Earth's evolutionists have not yet reached that level in their cultivated arts—so they are at a disadvantage against Sky Demons. If evolutionists could ever elevate their cultivated arts to the Spirit Tribulation Realm, Sky Demons would no longer be their match."
Li Yi now had a rough understanding of the Demon God Realm's cultivation tiers.
But thoughts aside, his actions were swift.
He raised his hand—a silver lightning bolt, infused with Long Hu power, crashed from the heavens, splitting into three, each streaking toward one Earth Demon.
BOOM!
Thunder roared, Long Hu bellowed.
The three Earth Demons, still surrounding Su Mu, had no time to react—they were struck instantly, each collapsing, bodies charred, flesh torn, blood and flesh a ruin.
Stunned by this sudden attack, Su Mu froze—then sharply turned toward the source.
But the next moment, she saw a man wielding thunder, striking the three Earth Demons again.
The second strike left them powerless to resist—they were literally blasted to death.
"Tenacious life force," Li Yi muttered, then flew toward Su Mu.
"Li Yi? It's you? Thank heaven—you're alive!"
Su Mu exhaled in relief: "How's the defense line? I'm sorry—I couldn't help at all. After being struck by a Sky Demon, I was gravely wounded—I could barely handle these Earth Demons, nearly got surrounded and killed."
"Professors Li Yue and Tang Yi from the Golden Academy arrived to reinforce us—they killed five great demons and stabilized the collapsing line. The Sky Demons, seeing the tide turn, began retreating. I took the chance to search near the line to check on you."
Li Yi's expression showed surprise—he hadn't expected Su Mu's first concern to be him and the defense line.
But it was natural.
If a powerhouse like Li Yi had died and the line had broken, despair would be absolute; whereas evolutionists like Su Mu, who couldn't influence the battle's outcome, mattered far less.
"That's good."
Su Mu sighed in relief: "Thank heaven the reinforcements came in time—if not, Earth would have been invaded by the Demon God Realm. I'm still alive, but I saw Pan Hongjie killed by an Earth Demon, Lu Yi forced to abandon his body and flee his soul across realms, and I haven't seen Tao Sheng—I don't know his fate."
"The situation was too chaotic—I couldn't keep track of others."
Li Yi said: "It's normal—battlefields are so chaotic; survival depends entirely on your own skill. The power gap between us and the Demon God Realm is too vast. Return to the defense fortress to rest—I'll patrol further and clear any remaining enemies."
"Alright, be careful," Su Mu nodded, dragging her wounded body swiftly back.
Thankfully, the path was safe—no enemies in sight—and she finally returned safely to base.
When she saw the uncamouflaged Tianyi Palace, she paused.
But Su Mu was certain—this was the same fortress.
"So that's it—the original fortress was a celestial palace transformed by magic," she realized instantly.
After all, since the Immortal Immortal Continent had appeared, such magic treasures were no longer surprising.
Inside Tianyi Palace, Su Mu found a Life Restoration Chamber.
A high-tech product from World Six, capable of repairing damaged or missing limbs—it was a relatively valuable medical device in the Golden Academy.
"Li Yi must have left this here on purpose," Su Mu thought, then without hesitation stepped inside.
The AI Lan Ji immediately activated the Life Restoration Chamber to heal Su Mu's wounds.
Li Yi was meticulously clearing the battlefield, expanding his patrol radius—he casually killed several lone Earth Demons and encountered the corpses of several evolutionists.
Clearly, Earth's defense line had suffered heavy casualties.
Yet he found no trace of Tao Sheng.
Perhaps his body was obliterated—or perhaps he had been too far from the line during the battle.
