Chapter 164: Indeed so

~6 min read 1,034 words

Leng Anzhi pushed her suitcase out, and Mu Youyu almost didn't recognize her.

The middle-school girl who always hid behind a few people, speaking softly like mosquitoes, had now grown to Gu Xingnan's shoulder height.

Her figure grew ever more slender; after losing baby fat, her cheek lines were neat and clear.

Her complexion bore the pallor of long-term conditioning, yet it made her look all the more pitifully lovely; the formerly timid, downcast corners of her eyes lifted slightly, and her pupils were a tranquil amber.

She wore simple clothing, her fingertips absently turning the sunglasses; seeing the four of them, the corner of her mouth lifted in an arc that held a hint of nonchalance.

"Yo, isn't this our C Shi F4? All of you came?"

She dragged her suitcase over to the four, first spotting Mu Youyu, and said in a light tone, "Youbao's gotten prettier again."

When she said the word "Youbao," her eyes curved, making Mu Youyu smile.

The two of course had ways to stay in touch, but they rarely chatted.

Since her second year of middle school, Leng Anzhi had gone abroad to H Country for treatment, and she had little interest in things like phones.

Jiang Liangjin said nothing, his gaze lingered on Leng Anzhi for a moment before shifting away.

Yu Ci was the first to react, exaggeratingly stepping back half a step: "Anzhi, welcome back! Did you get a head transplant in H Country?"

He looked her up and down, his tone full of amazement: "The little kid who used to trail behind us is now almost as tall as Gu Xingnan!"

"Not that exaggerated." Leng Anzhi gave a light laugh, her gaze sweeping over him to land on Gu Xingnan.

The boy still looked the same, only his grip on the phone had tightened.

Yu Ci naturally patted his hands, and the bodyguard behind him stepped forward respectfully to take Leng Anzhi's suitcase.

"Finally got you back! You've lost a lot of weight abroad."

Leng Anzhi's voice was lighter than before, carrying a soft overseas accent: "I'm not used to the food there."

She glanced around, her tone flat as she added, "Besides, it's noisy."

For a moment nobody spoke.

Mu Youyu had long noticed that her personality was completely different from before; she stepped forward a few steps and teased, "Welcome back! We thought you'd turn into a foreign miss and not recognize us anymore!"

Leng Anzhi was amused by her, the corners of her eyes curving into a lovely arc: "How could I not? I think of you every day."

She stepped forward and hugged Mu Youyu, then pinched her cheek; her smile grew brighter: "Ah, my Youbao really is getting prettier, and you've dyed your hair—brown really suits you!"

Mu Youyu let her hug, showing a bright smile: "You're the one who's changed a lot."

Leng Anzhi glanced between the two, her gaze lingering on Jiang Liangjin's burgundy hair for two seconds, and, smiling at Mu Youyu, said, "Your childhood friend is still as eye‑catching as ever—this hair colour really suits his face."

"En." Jiang Liangjin's reply remained brief, his gaze still fixed on the strands of Mu Youyu's hair lifted by the wind: "Does it look good?"

Leng Anzhi raised an eyebrow, followed his gaze to Mu Youyu, and seeing his expression knew he wasn't asking her.

So she sensibly held her tongue, merely looking gently at Mu Youyu.

As expected, her friend Mu Youyu immediately replied, "Looks good, looks good!"

After saying that, she stepped forward and asked, "Did Uncle Leng not come to pick you up? No bodyguards either?"

Second Miss Leng Anzhi is the twin younger sister of Eldest Miss Leng Yueyou; outsiders think the Leng Family Head dotes most on Fourth Miss Leng Yueyue.

In fact, that careful protection is mostly given to the frail Second Miss Leng Anzhi who went abroad for treatment.

Only Leng Anzhi's quiet, low‑key nature means few people know about this.

As her middle‑school friends, they naturally know.

Leng Anzhi's suitcase had already been taken by Yu Ci's bodyguard; she waved a hand and explained, "I told him not to come, and not to bring anyone."

It's noisy.

Mu Youyu knows Leng Anzhi likes to stay low‑key and quiet.

This time she didn't let Leng Father and his entourage come, perhaps because the four of us would be picking her up, or perhaps because after over two years abroad for treatment she's grown accustomed to being alone.

She didn't think much about it.

Jiang Liangjin merely accompanied Mu Youyu to pick her up and never took the initiative to speak to Leng Anzhi.

Yu Ci and Gu Xingnan stood to the side, not interrupting the two girls' chat.

"Gu Xingnan," Leng Anzhi looked at the person beside Yu Ci, tilted her head and smiled with a deliberate frivolity, "It's been almost three years—aren't you going to give me a hug?"

The air instantly froze.

Mu Youyu instinctively glanced at Jiang Liangjin, who silently pulled her a little behind him.

Yu Ci heard that answer and paused; he didn't speak, only turned his head to look at Gu Xingnan, as if asking for his opinion.

Gu Xingnan stepped forward half a step in silence, his black eyes holding complex emotions that were hard to read.

His steps were slow, each one as if he were weighing something; he finally stopped half a foot away from her and did not move closer.

The smile in Leng Anzhi's eyes deepened, carrying a hint of meaning.

Indeed so.

She didn't say much more, just turned her head to Mu Youyu and changed the subject: "By the way… was Leng Yueyue sent abroad?"

Leng Yueyue, a few months younger half‑sister, not close to her, an indifferent fourth younger sister.

Mu Youyu replied, "Yes."

Leng Anzhi's face showed no expression, as if she were hearing something trivial.

She had never felt anything for Leng Yueyue, so where the girl went or how she was made no difference to her.

But her father hadn't told her about it.

She thought for a moment and then asked, "What's the situation?"

Her tone was even, giving away no emotion.
