Chapter 183: Always First in My Heart
Mu Youyu pulled Jiang Liangjin out.
She turned to look at the deserted old gate behind her, couldn't help curling her lips, "Good thing I got out fast; otherwise they'd surely have kept me home to rest."
Jiang Liangjin let her pull him, slowed his pace, lightly reversed his grip on her hand, his tone indulgent: "In such a rush to get back to school, are you afraid of being constantly questioned?"
Mu Youyu looked up at him, "Or rather, A Jin gets me; being stuck at home surrounded by people asking all sorts of questions, I'd get dizzy."
Jiang Liangjin spoke softly, his gaze on her face, the smile in his eyes deepening: "Those elders finally hoped you'd come back once; they keep you in mind, so naturally they want to spend a bit more time with you and ask a few more questions before they can relax."
Mu Youyu nodded obediently, her fingertips lightly hooking his finger, "I know they care about me, but the constant questioning is just too much for me to handle."
Jiang Liangjin chuckled low, "It's my oversight; I should have brought you out earlier."
He turned his head toward the car parked not far away, "Shall we take my car back?"
Mu Youyu nodded, followed him to the car, and just pulled open the door.
Then she heard Mu Nian's voice from behind: "Youbao! Wait for me!"
The two turned around and saw Mu Nian quickly catching up.
He stepped up beside Mu Youyu, his tone tinged with disapproval: "How can you just leave like that? At least wait for me to arrange a driver to send you off; it'd be safer on the road."
"Brother, A Jin sending me is fine."
Mu Youyu smiled to soothe him, "Besides, the school isn't far; we'll be there soon, so don't worry."
The Mu Family residence is normally a ten-odd minute drive from school, let alone the old house.
Mu Nian's gaze fell on their clasped hands, the posture intimate and natural, as if they'd long grown accustomed to each other's company.
He sighed.
He knew deep down that once his precious little sister set her mind on someone, no amount of persuasion from others would change it.
Moreover, he doted on her; how could he bear to truly oppose her?
Forget it; Jiang Liangjin also grew up with the sister, and in the future he'll understand her even better than outsiders.
Thinking that, his expression softened a bit, he glanced at Jiang Liangjin, a silent admonition in his eyes, and finally he relented.
Yet his tone remained stern: "Take it slow on the road, text me when you get to school, and besides, you don't need to worry about those people—we'll handle it; just enjoy yourself at school."
"Got it, you're the best, brother!" Mu Youyu nodded obediently, her eyes full of smiles.
Mu Nian's heart melted at her coaxing; he couldn't help stepping forward to pinch her cheeks, teasing, "You say brother's the best—will the other brothers get angry?"
Mu Youyu immediately shook her head, "No problem, brother; they're not around here, so no one will hear!"
No sooner had her words fallen than a few light coughs came from behind.
She saw several other brothers had somehow also caught up, standing not far away with varied expressions.
Evidently they'd heard that remark loud and clear.
Seeing this, Mu Nian couldn't help laughing: "Then this afternoon I'll go pick up your sister-in-law, then come fetch you home, Youbao, have fun."
Mu Youyu replied with an affirmation, and Jiang Liangjin had the driver pull away.
The two sat in the back seat.
Mu Youyu leaned against the seatback, turned her head to watch the scenery flash by outside the window, suddenly recalled something, and turned to look at Jiang Liangjin beside her.
He happened to be looking at her as well.
She exclaimed excitedly, "Actually, A Jin is the best in my heart!"
Jiang Liangjin's heart softened, his voice indulgent: "Youbao too—you've always been first in my heart."
Mu Youyu smiled, then pulled out her phone, first replied to a few private messages from her brothers and friends, then opened the class group.
Sure enough, the screen filled with classmates' concern and gossip.
Moreover, someone had secretly taken photos of the hallway this morning, basically saying some brother was incredibly handsome and such.
She chuckled, scrolled through a few posts, and typed: 【I'm fine, thanks everyone, attending class normally】.
Hardly had she sent it when the group exploded, all replies being 【Yu jie, just stay safe】 and 【Yu jie, you're awesome】.
Exiting the class group chat window, Mu Youyu recalled something, looked up at Jiang Liangjin, "By the way, A Ci just messaged me, saying he called you but you didn't answer; he seems a bit worried."
He and Gu Xingnan also called her.
Jiang Liangjin froze for a moment, pulled out his phone, and indeed saw several missed calls from Yu Ci and Gu Xingnan, "I didn't notice them just now."
Mu Youyu also hadn't seen them, "We'll talk about it when we get back to school; I've already let him know I'm safe."
The car soon arrived at the side of Building Two of Lanlin Gaozhong; it was currently class time.
Jiang Liangjin got out first and opened the car door for Mu Youyu.
As Mu Youyu stepped out, she happened to run into Gu Xingnan and Yu Ci walking toward her.
Seeing her, their eyes lit up instantly and they hurried over.
"Youbao! All right?" Yu Ci looked her over, his voice full of concern, afraid she'd suffered even the slightest grievance.
After all, from childhood they'd doted on her like a little princess.
They'd never seen her bullied like this!
"I'm fine, look, I'm all right." Mu Youyu laughed, spun around, showing she was completely unharmed.
Gu Xingnan stood to the side, watching her lively self, also breathed a sigh of relief, "All good then."
Although knowing Jiang Liangjin was by her side meant she wouldn't be taken advantage of, and besides there were the brothers.
But the two still couldn't help worrying, after all they'd grown up together from childhood, their bond as close as family.
Only then did Yu Ci fully relax, sighing with relief while his tone carried a hint of pride: "Rest assured, I already reported those two this morning; the police have taken them away."
Mu Youyu, however, didn't dwell much on the fate of those people this morning, given that A Jin and her family had stepped in, surely they wouldn't let her be wronged.
She nodded, "How did you guys come out?"
Yu Ci raised an eyebrow, his tone hinting at pride: "Hey, it's no big deal—I slipped out using the pretext of the student council checking attendance."
Who would dare stop him?
Gu Xingnan: "Yes."
After all, both of them are already in the student council.
Did you come down from checking homework?
Mu Youyu finally understood why both of them wanted to join the student council—so they could slack off.
Jiang Liangjin spoke up at the right moment: "Alright, let's go up."
Yu Ci let out an "ah", looking unwilling: "I just came down not long ago."
Gu Xingnan helplessly comforted: "It's fine, class will be over soon, and the next class is a practical one, so we can come out."
As the four entered the classroom, the classmates' gazes all turned toward them.
Yet there was no noise at all, only full goodwill.
The teacher apparently had also heard about the incident in the office, and saw the few people coming to report.
Unable to help, the teacher stopped lecturing, smiled at the few people outside the door, and said, "Alright, come in, as long as it's fine."
"Okay, teacher." Mu Youyu replied, giving everyone a bright smile before quickly returning to her seat.
Jiang Liangjin sat beside her, taking out a brand-new textbook and handing it to her.
It was what he had arranged for someone to deliver this morning; he had already organized it for her.
Mu Youyu's textbooks never had names written on them, anyway everyone has their own textbook, so no one would think of stealing.
