Chapter 207: The ones backing them up are the Mu Family
Jiang Family Old Residence.
Jiang Huan and Jiang Yun had been detained for almost two months; out of deference to Jiang Ye Ye's authority, they were quite honest.
Because of the trouble they caused, Cheng Siqing, Jiang Ji, and Jiang Siqian were also detained in this old residence along with the rest of the family.
The difference is that the first two were half-dragged, half-carried by bodyguards; Jiang Yun even took a long leave for this, their phone usage was limited, and they had to follow rules every day, with the right to go out revoked.
Except when in the rooms or near Jiang Ye Ye, wherever they went, a few expressionless bodyguards followed behind like inescapable shadows, under constant surveillance; even whispering required caution.
As for the latter three, they came of their own accord after Jiang Ye Ye personally ordered them to pack their luggage and come.
The two children still had to go to school, so they could go out freely, but their daily routes to and from school were strictly fixed.
Only Cheng Siqing was relatively at ease, still able to go shopping with her female friends.
Before the sky was fully light, a rustling sound of sweeping echoed in the courtyard.
Even the dog newly raised by Jiang Ye Ye outside started barking intermittently, its voice hoarse, making people annoyed.
Jiang Huan was awakened by this sound.
He shot up from bed, a surge of anger in his chest, his eyes bloodshot, as if he hadn't slept well for several nights.
Having stayed in the old residence for almost two months, the aristocratic air of his privileged upbringing had largely worn away, replaced by an irrepressible irritability and feeling of suffocation.
His hair was left uncombed, hanging limp and disheveled, looking rather down-and-out.
He irritably kicked the bedside, his voice hoarse with impatience: "Qingqing?"
Next door, Cheng Siqing heard the movement and hurried over, holding a cup of warm water, her face bearing a gentle, compliant smile: "I'm here, Ahuan—you awake? Drink some water to soothe your throat."
Seeing her, Jiang Huan's expression eased a little, but recalling what was on his mind, he shoved her hand away and waved his hand impatiently: "No, I'm not in the mood."
His voice full of resentment: "What sin have I committed to be locked up here suffering like this?"
During the two months confined in this old residence, he was like a prisoner trapped in a cage; the former grandeur of calling wind and summoning rain outside had vanished.
Thinking this, he slammed his hand onto the bed and lowered his voice to curse: "Jiang Liangjin, that brat, is simply overbearing! And Dad—he actually had the heart to keep us locked up this long! Does he still see me, his eldest son, in his eyes at all?"
A flash of disgust crossed Cheng Siqing's eyes, quickly replaced by worry: "Ahuan, don't get angry—you'll hurt yourself."
She set down the water cup, quickly stepped forward and gently patted his back, her voice soft: "Dad means well; after a while, when his anger fades, he'll let us go."
"Wait?" Jiang Huan snorted at the notion, "How long? Until Jiang Liangjin squeezes the Jiang clan entirely in his grip? Until our main branch becomes the Jiang family's laughingstock?"
The more he spoke, the more agitated he became, his chest heaving: "If not for Jiang Su, if not for that little bastard Jiang Liangjin clinging like a ghost, the Jiang clan should rightfully be mine! Why? Why should they father and son occupy the high positions while I'm stuck here obeying a bunch of broken rules?"
Cheng Siqing's hand paused mid-pat; lifting her head, her eyes slightly reddened, she looked pitiful: "Ahuan, I know you feel wronged, I know all too well—but what can we do now? You know Dad's temper; confronting him head‑on only brings loss, and we might not even be able to stay in this old residence."
Her voice carried a hint of "wanting to help but unable to," and Jiang Huan's heart sank a little.
Seeing Jiang Huan silent, Cheng Siqing leaned in a few steps, lowering her voice to a whisper with a hint of allure: "Actually… there might be a way."
Jiang Huan's eyes sharpened instantly, locking onto her: "What way?"
Cheng Siqing pressed her lips: "Dad dotes on Jiang Liangjin; if anything happens to him, Dad's heart will be thrown into turmoil—then, if we whisper a bit on the side…"
She didn't finish the sentence, but the meaning was obvious.
Jiang Huan's breath caught, his eyes flickering uncertainly.
He hadn't ruled out striking Jiang Liangjin again, but the last lesson was still fresh in his mind, and Jiang Liangjin's ever‑present bodyguards left no opening.
"Do you have an idea?" he asked in a low voice.
Cheng Siqing smiled faintly, her smile hinting at confidence: "I've heard that Lan Lin and Nan Feng are jointly organizing an entrepreneurship business competition; Jiang Liangjin and the Mu Family's little princess have formed a team to enter, and the contest will run for a month, surely presenting many opportunities."
She paused, her fingertip lightly tracing Jiang Huan's hand, then continued: "Besides, the organizer of the competition is XY Group, and behind it stands the Mu Family."
His eyes lit up at once, as if he had glimpsed a ray of hope.
Exactly! The Mu Family!
The Mu Family's little princess is the one Jiang Liangjin holds dearest, and the Mu Family is notoriously protective of its own.
Furthermore, when Mu Youyu used to come to the Jiang Family Old Residence for meals, the several elder brothers of the Mu Family had their own attitudes toward Jiang Liangjin…
If Jiang Liangjin were to falter in the competition, dragging the Mu Family's little princess down with him, the Mu Family might not speak up for him—and could even blame him instead.
By then, even if the old man flew into a rage, he'd have to weigh the Mu Family's reputation.
Jiang Huan clenched his fists tightly: "Good! Good! Let's do it! As long as we can bring down Jiang Liangjin, I'll do anything!"
Cheng Siqing looked at him, her smile deepening then quickly fading to a gentle expression: "Then we need to plan carefully—no more reckless moves like last time."
The two whispered their plans as the sky outside gradually brightened.
Jiang Ji came downstairs with his backpack, his face behind black‑rimmed glasses showing no expression.
Since the last time Jiang Huan shoved him out of the hospital to take the blame, and after moving into the old residence with his parents, he has become much more silent.
Jiang Siqian trailed behind him, muttering: "Brother, can we leave school early this afternoon? I heard a dessert shop opened near the school—I want to try it."
After two days of regular school commutes, they had far less free time and many restrictions.
If it weren't for Grandfather insisting they come back together, she wouldn't have to ask.
Jiang Ji stopped in his tracks, glanced at her, and said flatly: "No time."
Although they were siblings by blood, they hardly interacted, yet still retained some affection.
Jiang Siqian: "Then I'll go buy it; you wait half an hour for me."
Jiang Ji's expression remained unchanged, 'Oh.'
