Chapter 233: I'm Timid

~5 min read 864 words

Leng Anzhi responded openly: "Hello, Leng Anzhi."

Mu Youyu looked at her now bright appearance, also happy for her, "Right, Anzhi, who are you here to watch the competition?"

Jiang Liangjin didn't care.

"Our classmates." Leng Anzhi lifted her chin at the girls standing not far away on the track.

The girls over there noticed, immediately waved and gave a big smile.

Qing An's hand, which had been lazily resting on the chair back, suddenly paused; he stood up, his gaze landing on Leng Anzhi, and said, "You've been to H Country before?"

His tone gave no hint of emotion, prompting several people to look at him.

Leng Anzhi hadn't expected him to know that; she blinked slightly, then nodded frankly, "Yes, I was in H Country… adjusting my health. Do you know me?"

She had been in a private sanatorium in H Country, with hardly anyone she interacted with; she really couldn't figure out how this person before her knew about it.

Qing An waved his hand, wearing an "I was just asking casually" expression, and drawled, "I don't know you."

Leng Anzhi: "..."

She was genuinely choked by that baffling remark, the smile at the corner of her mouth stiffening, yet she didn't press further.

Mu Youyu watched Qing An's eyes, which seemed lost in thought, and couldn't help tugging at Jiang Liangjin's sleeve, whispering, "Why is Qing An acting so weird?"

Jiang Liangjin turned his body accordingly, pulling her closer to him.

As he reached out, his fingertip accidentally brushed her wrist, feeling the bracelet engraved with "J" and "Y"; his smile deepened, "Ignore him, he's probably just bored."

Who would have thought that comment would be caught by Qing An's sharp ears; he immediately widened his eyes exaggeratedly, dragging out his words as he shouted, "Because I'm a monster, I'm going to eat you!"

Saying that, he lunged toward Mu Youyu, arms spread wide, posing as if to envelop her in an embrace.

Jiang Liangjin, quick-eyed and quick-handed, reached out and pulled Mu Youyu behind him, looking at Qing An as if he were an idiot.

Mu Youyu hid behind Jiang Liangjin, peeking out half her head, watching Qing An feign ferocity, almost laughing out loud.

She tugged at Jiang Liangjin's sleeve to signal him not to be fierce, then slipped out from behind him, a flash of mischief crossing her eyes before she instantly switched to an innocent look.

She spoke in a soft, sweet voice: "Qing An, stop messing around—I'm timid, I'll get scared."

That timid demeanor, paired with her pinkish-gold long hair and pale large eyes, made anyone who saw it feel a little soft-hearted.

Qing An rather liked looking at her face, which resembled Mu Xin's, showing all sorts of expressions.

Jiang Liangjin lowered his head to look at her little self, "Youbao isn't scared; let's just ignore him."

Mu Xin couldn't stand it; he raised his hand and gave Qing An a light tap on the back of the head, brows slightly furrowed, tone warning: "Don't scare her."

Qing An winced, covering the back of his head, and retreated sullenly, muttering under his breath, "So petty, can't even joke."

Mu Xin said flatly, "No."

Upon hearing that, Qing An still grinned, edging closer to Mu Xin and lowering his voice: "I'm just livening up the atmosphere—look, Youbao's laughing."

Mu Xin couldn't be bothered; he gave Qing An a cool, indifferent glance, that chilly gaze instantly silencing him, so he obediently stepped aside, not daring to cause trouble anymore.

Leng Anzhi watched their interaction, a flicker of envy crossing her eyes, and the smile at her lips softened a bit.

After saying a few words to them, she went to find the girls.

Seeing Mu Xin still ignoring Qing An, Mu Youyu opportune ly said, "Hey, it's fine—Qing An's always bored, isn't he?"

She knew Qing An was just bored, with no ill intent, merely wanting to fool around for fun.

Wait…

Mu Youyu put her hands on her hips, looking at Mu Xin with a hint of grievance: "Brother, he's treating me as amusement!"

Jiang Liangjin chimed in from the side, lightly putting an arm around her shoulders: "Exactly, Qing An's going too far—Youbao's so well-behaved, how can you use her for amusement?"

Having said it's fine, this person isn't a real brother, so he won't hold a grudge.

Upon hearing that, Mu Xin's ice-blue eyes flickered with a smile; he reached out to ruffle his sister's hair, his tone indulgent: "Yeah, it's his fault."

Saying that, he turned his head to look at Qing An, eyes devoid of emotion: "Go, buy a bottle of yogurt to make amends."

Qing An: "..."

He clutched his chest, "Darling, you're making me feel so cold-hearted—I remember you used to help me cover for me!"

Mu Youyu pressed her lips, turned away from him, wearing the look of "I'm really angry, you can't sweet-talk me out of this."

Qing An resigned, "If it were anyone else, I'd have had the guards kick them flying—how hard and how far—but who let this be my own sister?"

He raised both hands in surrender, "Fine, fine, fine—what flavor does Youbao want?"
