Chapter 349: Blocked

~7 min read 1,385 words

After getting in the car, Mu Youyu sat in the back seat, replying to Lin Ning's message.

After passing a side road, she didn't notice two black unmarked cars quietly appearing behind.

The cars weren't fast, but they kept a steady distance, neither too close nor too far.

The bodyguards in the dark immediately noticed the abnormality, communicated quickly via earpieces, their faces grim.

The bodyguards flanking the main car also quietly tightened their grip on the self-defense devices hidden at their waists.

Mu Youyu was still chatting with Lin Ning, completely unaware.

Only when the car suddenly braked hard, the body jolting violently, did she gasp, her phone almost flying from her hand.

"What's wrong?" she lifted her eyes, looking toward the driver's seat, Song Ze Wu.

His face was tense, staring fixedly at the intersection ahead.

The previously open side road was completely blocked sideways by two identical black cars, cutting off the way ahead entirely.

"Young miss, something's off," Song Ze Wu said in an extremely low voice, "the front is completely blocked."

As soon as his words fell, the earpiece burst with companions' urgent shouts: "Little Five, the cars tailing us from behind have closed in! Front and rear pincer attack, they've brought plenty of gear, looks like they're after the young miss."

"Their numbers are unknown, all masked, like assassins."

"You two, protect the young miss first."

The next second, the front and rear car doors were simultaneously pushed open from inside.

More than a dozen men in black tight-fitting clothes, faces covered, poured out, each holding a weapon.

Instantly they surrounded the main car Mu Youyu was riding in, sealing it off.

Song Ze Wu cursed under his breath, quickly unbuckled his seatbelt, "Little Six, guard the young miss! I and the others will go down to clear a path."

Mu Youyu's heart raced faster and faster, but she forced herself to stay calm, clutching her phone, obediently huddling in the back seat, daring not to move.

She had indeed studied judo.

But she knew that her modest skills were barely enough against ordinary people, let alone these trained, strong male thugs—utterly useless.

"Who are they?" she asked, lowering her voice, tone slightly trembling.

"Not clear, but the target is obvious—you." Song Ze Wu had already opened the car door, "Young miss, trust us."

As the car door opened, a cold wind blasted in; outside was already in chaos.

More than a dozen masked black-clad men wielded iron bars, batons, and some even hid daggers, closing in.

At a glance they were long-term trained assassins.

The Mu family's bodyguards rushed out.

Song Ze Liu's heart sank; protecting the young miss for half a year, they had never encountered such a situation before.

Back when he was by the young master's side, he had indeed encountered this… If he'd known, he would have disregarded the rules and brought a gun, and wouldn't have ended up so passive.

Almost a reflex, he quickly unbuckled his seatbelt, turned to reassure: "Young miss, don't be afraid, stay in the car and don't move; we'll get you out."

Song Ze Wu pushed open the car door, just as his feet touched the ground, a dagger came flying at him.

He sidestepped narrowly, then ruthlessly knocked the attacker down.

Unable to withstand their numbers, within a blink four or five more surrounded him, each move vicious.

Song Ze Wu's skills were top-notch; fighting four opponents, he didn't fall behind at all.

But just as he tore open a gap, more people surged in from the side, completely cutting off his retreat.

The other bodyguards were also struggling to cope.

Mu Youyu watched, her heart clenched.

"Be careful!" Song Ze Liu's heart tightened at the sight; just as he was about to open the car door to help, the door was kicked hard from outside, a violent jolt shaking the vehicle.

"Young miss, take this." Song Ze Liu quickly pulled a pepper spray from his pocket and shoved it into her hand.

"Stay in the car, don't come out; our people have already called the police, waiting for backup." He instructed, then with a backhand pulled open the other side door, leapt out, and joined the fray.

His skills were on par with Song Ze Wu's.

The attackers were clearly prepared, their numbers several times that of the bodyguards, each strike vicious, every move aimed at vital spots.

The guards hidden in the dark all rushed out, the smell of blood quickly spreading through the air.

One bodyguard, to shield the main car's window, bore the full force of an incoming club, then backhanded the attacker down, blood instantly splattering onto the window.

Mu Youyu was already somewhat faint at the sight of needles and blood, especially flowing blood.

That flash of red entered her view, a wave of nausea hitting her instantly.

If she had known, she would have listened to A Jin and stayed obediently at home, not going out.

She had gone out with them so many times before and never encountered anything like this…

Mu Youyu endured the discomfort, opened the family group chat, initiated a group call then hung up.

Many people replied, so she composed a distress signal and also sent her real-time location.

Just as she sent it, someone in the crowd suddenly threw a tear gas canister; white smoke exploded instantly, enveloping half the car.

"Careful, it's tear gas!" the bodyguards shouted loudly, but it was already a step too late.

Song Ze Wu and Song Ze Liu, being closest, inhaled a little; their heads felt dizzy, movements slowed a bit, and their strength waned.

It was exactly this momentary lapse that several thugs seized, lunging for the car door.

They violently smashed the window, pulled open the rear seat door, and reached in to grab whoever was inside.

Mu Youyu's eyes flashed fiercely; she instinctively thrust her elbow at the opponent's chest.

The opponent's strength was immense; he reflexively seized her wrist, "Be honest, come with us!"

The techniques she had learned were utterly useless before such an overwhelming strength disparity.

Mu Youyu gritted her teeth, said nothing, and with her other hand fished out the pepper spray Song Ze Liu had just given her, spraying wildly ahead.

The opponent had anticipated this, raising his hand to block his face with his sleeve, expression unchanged, his other hand crushing her arm hard, trying to yank her out of the car.

Just as she was about to be forcibly dragged out of the car, a figure sprang out.

The newcomer kicked the person grabbing her hard in the chest, sending that person flying.

Mu Youyu opened her eyes; it was a girl wearing black tight-fitting clothes.

Her face was cold and striking; in just a few seconds she knocked down several thugs near the car door, her aura fully unleashed—obviously a master.

"Miss, I am someone sent by Young Master Jiang to protect you." She announced her identity in a low voice, the short blade in her hand flashing as she drove back the thugs closing in, "Young Master Jiang's people will arrive soon."

Mu Youyu's heart jolted, the heart hanging in midair easing a fraction—"Good."

The girl wasted no words, her gaze sweeping over the chaotic battle, speaking extremely fast: "Don't get out of the car; before our people arrive, I will protect you."

"Understood, I won't get out of the car."

The smell of the haze surged in the lane, the car window smashed open, the pungent irritant stinging the nostrils.

Mu Youyu immediately shrank back into the car, covering her mouth and nose.

Outside, another four thugs closed in, weapons in hand, murderous intent rising.

The black-clad girl's gaze unchanged, her form flickered.

While evading the attack, her short blade precisely flicked aside the opponent's weapon, then she backhanded a knife strike to the side of the opponent's neck.

Seeing this, the Mu family's bodyguards outside cheered, "It's one of our own—protect the young lady!"

With her joining, the battle eased somewhat.

The thugs were clearly the sort of desperate fighters, utterly unafraid of casualties—when one fell in front, another immediately stepped up behind.

The smell of blood grew stronger.

But after a moment, another four or five people surged forward from behind the crowd.
