Chapter 394

~7 min read 1,324 words

Yu Ci's face darkened; Gu Xingnan recalled the matters Mu Xianqi and Mu Xi had asked him to investigate at the beginning, and the chill on his expression grew sharper.

They had already had their family members give that foolish rumor-monger from the Shen family a taste of their own medicine.

As a wealthy conglomerate family, the Shen family; the Yu and Gu families are merely affluent clans in West City, barely qualifying as nobility in domestic elite circles…… that's true……

But how could they not measure up to just a branch member of the Shen family?

If it weren't for this matter, they wouldn't even have known Shen Yecheng.

Others still wanted to ask more, but Jiang Liangjin simply said, settling the whole room: "The matter has already been handled."

Mo Song, being tactful, didn't press further: "That's good, as long as you're fine."

Leng Yueyou interjected beside them, her tone arrogant: "You say that, Xiao Youyu is certainly fine; if anyone's in trouble, it should be those kidnappers."

"Exactly!" Mo Song's previously furrowed brows began to relax, his eyes brightening for a moment, full of relief: "I heard M Guo handled it especially harshly—deserved!"

Mu Youyu looked at Mo Song's beaming smile, and the corners of her mouth involuntarily curved upward.

Song Song was becoming increasingly cheerful; for some reason, seeing her like that, a small sense of accomplishment welled up in her heart.

"Sister Youyu, why are you staring at me like that?" Mo Song felt his cheeks warm under her gaze, he lifted a hand to lightly touch his own cheek, looking bewildered: "Did I get something on my face?"

"No." Mu Youyu nodded seriously: "I just think you've been looking well lately; it seems Leng Yueyou has been taking good care of you."

Those words made Mo Song blush again; Leng Yueyou replied proudly: "Of course."

Seeing that the few of them had stopped chatting, a classmate nearby immediately asked: "Sister Youyu, do you have any fun stories from M Guo?"

Mu Youyu tilted her head, feigning thought: "Yes, he drew me a picture."

Jiang Liangjin, who had been lazily leaning against the sofa, quietly sat up straight.

Drawing?

The classmates all blinked in surprise: "Young Master Jiang can also draw?"

"Wow, so elegant, an artsy person."

"He hides his talents well, which doesn't match his demeanor."

Mu Youyu said, having studied the same arts and fields as Jiang Liangjin since childhood: "He's always been able to."

Mo Song pondered: "Young Master Jiang drew you a picture? How is his drawing?"

Recalling the picture that only showed her profile, Mu Youyu's lips curled: "It's still a bit lacking compared to me."

Jiang Liangjin replied affectionately: "Yes, it's far inferior to her."

Mo Song and Leng Yueyou exchanged a glance, both letting out a drawn-out "oh" with deep meaning.

Mu Youyu, puzzled by their looks, asked: "What are you 'oh'-ing about?"

"Nothing, nothing." They waved their hands repeatedly, but the smiles on their faces couldn't be hidden.

Jiang Liangjin sat to the side, listening to their conversation, his face still showing no expression.

Yu Ci raised an eyebrow, glanced lightly at Jiang Liangjin, and deliberately teased: "Yo, A Jin can also draw? I had no idea—guess I'm really out of the loop."

Jiang Liangjin gave him a faint glance: "You know."

Yu Ci clicked his tongue, tone lacking: "Alright, alright, you're impressive."

"I know, no need for you to say."

Everyone started eating, pairing off with their partners to chat; most were discussing matters within the circle, as well as chatting about where to go for winter break.

Throughout, Jiang Liangjin only looked after Mu Youyu beside him.

Yu Ci idly scrolled his phone with his head down, occasionally glancing up at the table before lowering his gaze again, his demeanor listless.

Gu Xingnan remained quiet throughout, occasionally turning his head to glance at him, then looking away as if nothing mattered.

Noticing his gaze, Yu Ci asked without lifting his head: "What are you looking at me for?"

Gu Xingnan's expression was calm: "Just checking if there's any food left in your bowl."

Yu Ci lowered his head to glance at his empty bowl, then looked at him: "Then why don't you pass me some?"

Gu Xingnan stayed silent for a second, picked up the communal chopsticks, and placed a piece of braised pork into his bowl.

Yu Ci curled the corner of his lip, feigning helplessness: "I'm already full; I was just speaking casually, but you actually went ahead and served me?"

Gu Xingnan said nothing, merely withdrew the chopsticks and returned to his quiet posture.

Yu Ci stared at him for two seconds, then suddenly laughed, picked up the piece of meat and shoved it into his mouth: "Fine, thanks, Nan-ge."

Gu Xingnan's lip corner twitched upward slightly, then quickly fell back down.

Mu Youyu took in the whole scene, leaned close to Jiang Liangjin, and lowered her voice: "Do those two have some little secret?"

Who are they?

Jiang Liangjin didn't notice whom she had just been looking at, and casually replied: "Probably."

Mu Youyu pursed her lips: "Perfunctory."

Jiang Liangjin chuckled, reached out to ruffle the top of her hair: "Not perfunctory; whatever you say is what it is."

Only then did Mu Youyu satisfy herself, withdrawing her gaze and continuing to chat with Mo Song.

Bai Yun sat at the head, watching the lively scene at the table, feeling inexplicably moved.

Xia Chao yi approached, smirking, and asked: "Miss Bai, what are you thinking about?"

Bai Yun bluntly replied: "I'm wondering when you'll finally shut up."

Xia Chao yi clutched his chest, looking hurt: "How can you say that to me? I'm your childhood friend!"

"Childhood friend?" Bai Yun snorted coldly: "I see you as a bamboo shoot—short and in the way."

Xia Chao yi:?

A few of his usual good buddies who got along well with him were the first to laugh out loud.

Xia Chao yi's face flushed red: "You… you…"

Bai Yun raised an eyebrow: "What, me?"

Xia Chaoyi held back for a long time, finally blurting: "How can you be like this!"

Bai Yun looked him up and down, then let out a meaningful "oh".

Xia Chaoyi was completely defeated, laying on the desk pretending to be dead.

Mu Youyu watched the two bicker like lovebirds, her eyes rolling, then she said: "Class monitor, Xia Chaoyi treats you pretty well—why do you always pick on him?"

Bai Yun heard the title "class monitor", froze for a moment, then gave a light cough: "He's just an idiot."

Xia Chaoyi lifted his head from the desk: "Where am I stupid? I ranked in the top five of the class on the final exam!"

"You dare say you're fifth place?" Bai Yun retorted.

"It's still better than you!"

"I'm fourth in the grade—what do you have to compare with me?"

Xia Chaoyi flopped back onto the desk, completely admitting defeat.

Everyone else couldn't bear to watch—who stole away their gentle class monitor?

Jiang Liangjin's gaze lingered on Xia Chaoyi for a moment—this guy is kinda pitiful.

But feelings should be cultivated from childhood, right?

As the meal drew near, everyone chatted for a while, and Bai Yun suggested playing Truth or Dare.

"Again with this? We've been doing it for two years… might as well play it for life."

"Not fun."

"Really boring."

Bai Yun countered: "Then what do you want to play? Werewolf? Script Kill? Or just chat?"

After the complaints stopped, the whole class couldn't think of a better game, saying, "No, let's just stick with this."

Everyone agreed unanimously; Bai Yun took out her phone: "The rules stay the same—I'll use a mini‑program to randomly draw student numbers."

No one had any objections.

Bai Yun tapped, the selected number appeared, the room fell silent for a second, and even the person who'd said it was boring now felt excited.
