Chapter 43: We Got Hit Together

~8 min read 1,435 words

Gu Xingnan leaned against the table, adding: "Later I still got the band-aid for A Jin to put on, A Ci was beside learning Youbao's crying, and got chased by A Jin running half the courtyard."

"Hey! Why bring me up again!"

Yu Ci got anxious, reached to push Gu Xingnan, "When you were little you still said you wanted to be a hacker protecting the country, but the first time you touched a computer you scrambled all the desktop icons, and it was Youbao who helped put them back."

"Bringing up old matters again."

Mu Youyu couldn't help laughing out loud.

Back then Gu Xingnan's face turned red, saying that this was the first step of a hacker's disguise, to confuse the enemy's sight.

As soon as he said that, the three of them laughed at him for several days straight.

Jiang Liangjin saw the situation, stood up to block their pushing motion, "Let's go, eat."

Yu Ci walked around, stood beside him, keeping a person's distance from Gu Xingnan.

Gu Xingnan waved his hand.

Mu Youyu saw that, instead stood up and walked to the other side of Jiang Liangjin.

Now the two were separated by two people's distance.

Hospital.

Apart from Jiang Huan's household, the Jiang Family all returned to their own homes.

Jiang Ji lazily leaned against the hospital bed, playing a game.

Cheng Siqing beside him, full of concern, softly asked: "Ah Ji, is there anything you want to eat? Mom will go buy it for you."

Jiang Ji's fingers swiped the screen, without looking up, "I'm not hungry."

Cheng Siqing also asked Jiang Yun beside her, "Ah Yun, how about you?"

Jiang Yun sat on a nearby stool, also looking at his phone, "Auntie, I'm not hungry either."

Cheng Siqing is Jiang Huan's second wife, married into the family.

Jiang Yun is the child of his first wife, said to have suffered severe bleeding and difficult labor when giving birth to Jiang Yun.

Jiang Yun is now over 20, but since he could remember, Jiang Huan has taught him to call Cheng Siqing 'Auntie', ostensibly so he wouldn't forget his birth mother.

After Cheng Siqing married Jiang Huan, Jiang Yun was only two; now, for her, it's fine.

Later she bore Jiang Huan a son and a daughter. Son Jiang Ji, age 17, but he loves to play too much, likes to make brothers outside, lacks decorum.

Thinking of this, Cheng Siqing sighed.

It's not that she doesn't allow Jiang Ji to make friends, but some people really shouldn't be befriended.

Daughter Jiang Siqian spoke up: "Mom, I want to eat braised pork!"

Cheng Siqing smiled slightly, "Okay."

She most loves her youngest daughter Jiang Siqian, who is just one year younger than Jiang Ji, but has been well-behaved since childhood, grades are good, and compared to Jiang Ji it's like heaven and earth.

Just then, Jiang Huan, after finishing a call, pushed the door open and walked straight to Jiang Yun, "Ah Yun, you first come back with me… Since you have Aunt Cheng here, don't waste time, learn more about company management."

Jiang Yun nodded to indicate he understood.

Cheng Siqing took her daughter Jiang Siqian out.

As Jiang Huan led Jiang Yun out of the ward, he lowered his voice: "Recently the company is busy with the West City Yu Family project; go over the data I gave you last time, and give me an analysis report by tomorrow morning."

Although Jiang Huan says he didn't inherit the family business, he started a company right after graduating university.

Now it's been over twenty years; without the Jiang Family's help, it can only be considered a second-rate company, not even ranking among the aristocratic circles.

Jiang Yun still gripped his phone, fingertips lightly brushing the screen edge, and replied softly, "Okay."

"Also," Jiang Huan glanced at him sideways, his eyes carrying a hint of severity, "Don't learn Jiang Ji's temperament; his friends aren't many reliable ones, stay away, don't get entangled!"

Jiang Yun nodded slightly, saying nothing more.

He had been accustomed since childhood to listening to Jiang Huan's arrangements; regarding Jiang Ji's friends, he had actually met them twice, each time feeling those people looked at him with a hint of calculation, but he never mentioned it to Jiang Huan.

He thought it unnecessary.

The two left the hospital; Jiang Huan looked around nearby, lowered his voice: "I've taken care of Jiang Ji's matter cleanly; this time we were careless."

Saying that, he slowly lowered his eyes, concealing the gloom in his depths.

This time Jiang Ji's car accident was caused by someone he sent to hit him… solely to frame Jiang Liangjin.

After all, Jiang Liangjin is the Jiang Family's sole heir.

He didn't expect it would also implicate the Yu Family.

He had no choice but to handle it first, destroying all evidence; now all evidence points to the drunk driver who died on the spot.

He miscalculated, and ended up causing his son Jiang Ji to be hit for nothing.

Jiang Yun let out a cold snort, voice laced with disgust: "Jiang Liangjin's brain probably figured it out."

If not for Jiang Liangjin… he and his father would have been the Jiang Family's heirs!

In Jiang Huan's generation, his second uncle Jiang Su was the most outstanding, naturally destined to inherit the Jiang Family.

If following primogeniture, the Jiang Family now belongs to Jiang Huan! And it will continue to be his!

Jiang Su only has one son, Jiang Liangjin… if he hadn't been born, the Jiang Family would have been Jiang Yun's!

Thinking of this, Jiang Yun's pupils suddenly constricted, his teeth clenched, and his originally refined bearing was instantly replaced by gloom and cruelty.

Jiang Huan soothed: "Ah Yun, don't rush, everything of the Jiang Family will sooner or later be ours!"

He paused again, his tone nostalgic: "Tomorrow is your mother's memorial day; I'll take you to see her."

Jiang Yun was also accustomed to this; since he could remember, his father has continually brought up his birth mother.

Saying he can't forget her, he can't accept anyone else.

His mind was in a tangled mess; he didn't want to continue this topic, merely nodded slightly, "Okay."

Mu Youyu and her group had just stepped out of the restaurant entrance when they looked up and bumped into two familiar people.

Jiang Siqian let out a soft "ya", lightly tugged Cheng Siqing's sleeve, the motion a reminder.

Cheng Siqing looked up, just meeting Jiang Liangjin's gaze.

"Liangjin," Cheng Siqing steadied her expression, pulling Jiang Siqian half a step forward, her tone the gentle warmth an elder should have, "Have you just finished eating?"

Jiang Liangjin nodded, his gaze sweeping over her, his voice light: "En."

He paused, looking at Cheng Siqing, "How is Jiang Ji's condition?"

He didn't have much fondness for either of them, and there wasn't much to talk about.

Right now it's just a casual question.

"Much better." Cheng Siqing smiled, reached out and pushed Jiang Siqian forward a bit, "Siqian, call them."

Jiang Siqian laughed and shouted, "Cousin good, Yu good, Gu good!"

All three responded.

As she spoke, her eyes flicked to Mu Youyu in a flash, then she hastily suppressed the surprise in her gaze, "Hello, Elder Sister Mu!"

When did Elder Sister Mu return?

Mu Youyu habitually forced a smile, "Siqian has grown so big."

Their ages differ by only a year; she had seen him when she visited the Jiang family, but they weren't close.

Jiang Siqian nodded, feeling embarrassed, "Elder Sister Mu keeps getting prettier!"

Jiang Liangjin couldn't be bothered with pleasantries, "Aunt, we're heading back to school first."

Cheng Siqing agreed, and the group walked toward the school. Once they could no longer see the two figures, Yu Ci said, "A Jin, I heard from my father that her family's son and Yu Cheng were hit together?"

Jiang Liangjin gave a cold snort, "He's still lying in the hospital."

Mu Youyu asked curiously.

The other three gave her a rough explanation.

Gu Xingnan thought of something, "Yu Cheng's mother still suspects that A Ci caused the collision."

Yu Ci let out an "en".

Jiang Liangjin instead waved a hand, speaking offhandedly, "The Jiang Huan family suspects me."

Upon hearing that, Yu Ci exploded, his steps pausing as he pointed toward the direction Cheng Siqing had just gone, "On what basis do they suspect you? Jiang Ji himself has provoked how many people out there—don't you know? When something happens they just push the blame onto you, do you have no shame?"
