Chapter 448

~7 min read 1,352 words

Glutinous Rice found a satisfactory spot in Mu Youyu's embrace and narrowed its eyes again.

Song Huaixian thought the more he looked, the more that lazy appearance begged for a beating, but his sister was holding it, so he couldn't say anything.

A thought turned in his mind, and he walked over to Mu Xin: 'Go, attract your sister's attention.'

Mu Xin:

Fine, this one ignores people.

Song Huaixian hit a wall, then moved to Jiang Liangjin's side: 'A Jin, look at that cat, its expression—is it showing off?'

Jiang Liangjin followed his gaze and happened to see Mu Youyu holding Glutinous Rice as she sat beside Mu Xin, her fingertips lightly stroking the cat's fur.

He let out a light chuckle from his throat, his tone slow: 'Right.'

Seeing that he wasn't taking the hint and not catching his implied meaning, Song Huaixian simply moved over, sat on the armrest of the sofa, and reached out to poke Glutinous Rice's head.

Unexpectedly, Glutinous Rice slowly opened its eyes and tilted its head to the side.

Song Huaixian, unwilling to give up, reached out again; this time Glutinous Rice couldn't be bothered to dodge, lifted a paw, its pad precisely pressing against his fingertip and gently pushing him away.

!

Qing An found this sight unbelievable, unable to believe this was the princess cat he had raised.

"" Song Huaixian withdrew his hand, his expression complex: 'Has this cat really become a spirit? I'm its former owner, truly forgetting my roots!'

Mu Youyu lowered her head to glance at Glutinous Rice in her arms; the little fellow had already retracted its paw, settled back in, acting as if nothing had happened: 'What's wrong?'

Jiang Liangjin immediately collected his smile and replied gently: 'It's fine, they're just playing around.'

Qing An believed the cat still remembered him, reached out and rubbed Glutinous Rice's head; the little fellow didn't refuse the hug, but gave no response.

"Hey!" Qing An wailed, 'I gave you the royal badge, and this is how you treat me?'

Glutinous Rice ignored him, snuggling tighter into Mu Youyu's embrace, giving off an 'Don't bother me' disdainful look.

Footsteps sounded on the stairs; Mu Yichi came down from upstairs, his hair still damp from a recent shower, apparently having taken advantage of the banquet's end to wash up: 'Still waiting.'

He was about to sit beside his brother, his gaze sweeping the living room to confirm he wasn't seeing things, and his expression visibly changed.

His body reacted faster than his mind, stepping back a large step.

"How did Glutinous Rice get out?" Mu Yichi's voice rose a pitch, as if he'd seen something that shouldn't be here.

Mu Yichen sat on the sofa, glanced at his brother with no change in expression, merely shifting half an inch to the side to make room for him.

But Mu Yichi completely missed this detail, his entire focus on that cat, his gaze wary as if staring at something explosive.

He knew his sister's family kept a cat; this was the second time he'd seen it, and previously when he came, the cat would be placed in a little nest by the servants.

It wasn't that he disliked it; his body simply wouldn't allow him to like it.

"It's coming out for some fresh air." Mu Youyu recalled this brother's allergy, handed the cat in her arms to the nearby nanny, and passed over her coat as well.

After the minor incident, the afternoon banquet was set in another detached building of the Mu family estate, inviting only close family, friends, teachers, and so on.

Mu Youyu and Mu Xin remained surrounded by everyone in the center spot.

As evening fell, the small banquet dispersed, the hubbub gradually subsided, and the two sixteen-year-olds' birthday thus concluded perfectly.

Opening his eyes again, it was already a school day.

Lanlin Gaozhong and Nanfeng Gaozhong stood opposite each other, people coming and going at the school gates, today inexplicably unusually busy.

However, this had nothing to do with Mu Youyu and the others; Mu Xi drove the car inside, they proceeded unimpeded, and entered the classroom.

Mu Youyu sat obediently, took out the textbook needed for the first class, and spread it open.

Jiang Liangjin sat beside her, took out a box of yogurt from his pocket, and placed it on her desk.

Mu Xi was called to the office.

After Song Lujing sat down, he put on his earphones, leaned over the desk to play with his phone; if his grandmother saw him, she'd scold him again, telling him not to mess with his eyes.

Mu Youyu inserted the yogurt, and a commotion arose at the classroom doorway.

The students began to mutter, 'Who are they? They've been standing there suspiciously for a long time.'

"Are they here for an inspection? But their demeanor doesn't match either."

"I just saw them at the school gate; they were frightening."

Three strangers in high-end suits stood at the doorway; at a glance they were clearly important figures, their aura exuding tremendous pressure.

"We're looking for the eldest daughter of the Mu family, Mu Youyu." The lead man spoke, looking down, chin raised, arrogant posture: 'We have an important matter to discuss.'

Yo!

Class 1 students automatically returned to their seats to watch the show.

Seeing this attitude, Jiang Liangjin, not in a good mood, refused on her behalf: 'Don't see them, get out.'

Song Lujing leaned over the desk playing with his phone, unaware of anything unusual.

Several people didn't pay much heed to this, only seeing a man shove the one who had just spoken, stacking a respectful smile on his face: 'Miss Mu, sorry to disturb you.'

Mu Youyu didn't know him; seeing the tablemate not reply immediately, she politely nodded, "May I ask what's the matter?"

"Miss Mu, may I have a word with you?"

Mu Youyu thought it might be someone she knew who had arranged this; since there was indeed business, she went to the doorway together with Jiang Liangjin.

Among the three, two looked glum; only the second man who spoke gave a slight bow, his words courteous:

"I was asked to come visit you. My Young Master has long admired Miss Mu and wanted a chance to greet you in person; today I've come uninvited, hoping Miss Mu will excuse me."

Jiang Liangjin glanced lightly at that person, standing in front of Mu Youyu; the latter confirmed she didn't know him, and said bluntly: "Who is your Young Master?"

The man didn't answer directly, but took a gift box from his attendant's hands and offered it with both hands: "This is a modest gift prepared by my Young Master for you; please accept it with a smile."

Mu Youyu didn't take it, just silently looked at the gift box: "Sorry, I don't accept gifts from strangers."

The man's Smile froze for a moment, then quickly returned to normal: "Miss Mu, my Young Master shares some fate with you, but it's inconvenient for him to appear publicly, so he sent me to visit. My Young Master is very fond of you and has long wanted an opportunity to get close."

Mu Youyu heard the implication, frowned slightly: "I don't know your Young Master, nor do I feel any connection. If there's nothing else, I have to go to class."

She turned to leave, the man stepped forward, his tone a bit more urgent: "Miss Mu, my Young Master sincerely wants to befriend you; at least accept this gift so I can report back."

Jiang Liangjin stretched out a hand to shield Mu Youyu before him, his eyes dark, 'She said, she won't accept.'

The man met that person's gaze, the Smile on his face finally couldn't stay.

But the people behind him were urging urgently, the task unfinished, and going back would be hard to explain.

He steeled himself and spoke again: 'Young Master Jiang, we didn't come to cause trouble; we're just sending a token of goodwill on behalf of the Young Master. Miss Mu, don't you want more family?'
