Chapter 47: Archery Field
Mo Song's tears fell onto the cuff of her black clothing, seeping into a small wet spot, though it wasn't noticeable.
Mu Youyu didn't say any grand principles; she just pulled out an unopened pack of tissues from her bag, tore it open, and handed it to her.
"Hey, what's wrong..." Mu Youyu saw the girl take the tissue and cry even harder, and she let out an "ah."
"Or… she could say a word to her older brother and have the Leng family taken down?"
As she spoke, she was about to pull out her phone, but for a moment she didn't realize the Leng family had a close friend, Leng Anzhi.
Fortunately, Mo Song, sniffling, wiped her face with the tissue and grasped Mu Youyu's hand.
"I, I..." her voice still trembling, her words halting, "Thank you... for helping me."
Before her third year of junior high, Mo Song had many friends.
She was pretty in appearance, had a good personality, excelled academically, and loved to help others tutor.
She was the kind of good student that teachers would smile when mentioning, and classmates all enjoyed playing with her.
However, after entering third year of junior high, she moved to the Leng family together with her mother.
She seemed to have locked away the former self who loved to jump and laugh, dared to hold up perfect test papers to share with classmates, and would proactively help teachers organize homework, secretly tucking it into the drawer of bygone times.
She didn't dare open it, only daring to peek.
The smile that used to always hang on her face gradually faded; when she saw classmates and wanted to greet them, just thinking about...
Leng Yueyue lifted her hand to fan herself, lifted her foot and kicked her, speaking with disdain: "Dead girl, don't hang out with these ordinary people; I can smell their poverty!"
She lowered her head, "But..."
"If you keep hanging out with them, your mother will lose her job!"
Her hand would quietly slip behind her back, not because the friends were ordinary, but because she feared they would also be targeted.
In her world, Leng Yueyue had power and influence.
In class, when the teacher asked a question, even though she knew the exact answer in her heart, she would deliberately pause for two seconds, then softly utter a vague statement.
The teacher merely sighed, then encouraged her.
She feared that if she scored too well, Leng Yueyue would seize on the excuse that "studying is just to grab a spot in Class A and seduce Gu Xingnan" to make things difficult for her.
Gradually, she started wearing glasses; after class she would read alone, eat alone, and do everything by herself except when being made things difficult.
"Just let it out by crying." Seeing her wipe away her tears, Mu Youyu imagined a heap of tragic experiences and softly sighed.
Mo Song's face felt a bit hot, "Mu classmate... I'm fine now."
She had already calmed her emotions, so why make her cry again?
Mu Youyu still wanted to speak, but her phone rang; she glanced at it, quickly tapped to answer, "A Jin."
"Okay, I'll be right there."
Jiang Liangjin was on his way to the restroom when Gu Xingnan called him.
It sounded like something had happened, so he first went downstairs to the archery field.
Mu Youyu originally should have gone over after washing her hands, but something unexpected happened.
Just now, when she made the call, she heard some noise on the other end.
Now she has to go over.
Mu Youyu pointed at her phone and said to Mo Song, "Leave a contact method?"
Mo Song slumped, her voice dejected: "I, I don't have a phone."
Mu Youyu's mind began to imagine Mo Song's tragic experiences, but the dejected little girl lifted her brows and said, "If I work part-time on the weekend, I can earn money to buy one!"
Mu Youyu indicated she understood, but she didn't have much time to ask further: "I still have some things to do; go home early, and if anything comes up, you can come find me in Class A!"
Having said that, she walked past Mo Song, gave her a smile, and lifted her foot to leave.
Seeing her leave, Mo Song's steps also stopped.
There are still two classes left; she can't go home now.
Mu Youyu followed the campus map on her phone and walked for a few minutes before finding the archery field.
Just as she turned into the entrance of the archery field, she heard muffled sounds and shouts mixed with hostility coming from inside.
On the sandy ground lay several broken arrow shafts, and the wooden targets that had originally stood upright in the center of the field had toppled over two of them.
Among the circle of people surrounding the center of the field, she instantly recognized a familiar figure.
Gu Xingnan leaned against the target that hadn't fallen, his light-colored shirt collar pulled into wrinkles, his pants also stained with sand, the corner of his mouth split open, oozing blood.
Yet he still stood straight, showing no sign of embarrassment, merely giving a cold glance at the person opposite him.
What made her chest tighten even more was Yu Ci beside him.
Two men who at first glance were not from the school were pressing him down onto the sand, one raising his fist as if to strike him.
Yu Ci struggled to lift his head, cursing with a rough breath: "Fuck your mother! Don't you know me? Are you tired of living, planning to have this young master send you on your way?"
"What the hell are you! Still dare to talk back?" The bald man snorted coldly, about to strike again, and ground his foot into Yu Ci's waist.
Jiang Liangjin, about two meters away from the two, had no visible injuries, but was also engaged in a fight with someone.
Seeing someone pressing down on Yu Ci, he stepped forward and kicked the bald man over with two moves, then pulled Yu Ci up, saying, "Step aside."
Behind the bald man, a dozen or so brothers surged forward in unison.
Around the stands, a dozen or so people were crowded, all students attending archery class, yet none dared to step forward.
Someone shrank in the corner of the stands, glanced toward the center of the field, then quickly lowered their head.
"This young lady's face must not be ruined!"
"If I had known, I would have had my dad arrange a personal bodyguard for me, waaah."
"I won't end up dying here, will I? Waah."
Someone else wanted to pull out their phone, but as their finger touched the screen, they caught sight of the bald man's vicious glare, quickly shoved the phone back into their pocket, and their body trembled slightly.
"Good grief, what kind of people have Young Master Gu and Young Master Yu provoked..."
I don't know, they just look like outsiders.
They dare to hit Young Master Gu and Young Master Yu; they're really bold.
Hiss, before they were sent here, they didn't even check who Young Master Gu is, or what his relation to Young Master Jiang is!
Anyone with eyes can see that these people are targeting Gu Xingnan.
First, they looked unfriendly and challenged Gu Xingnan to an archery match; he won easily, and they, embarrassed and angry, started fighting.
Later, Yu Ci rushed forward……
And that's how we got to this scene.
Jiang Liangjin had arrived only a few minutes earlier, and it was then that he called Mu Youyu.
Their attention then turned back to Jiang Liangjin in the middle.
Wow, Young Master Jiang is so handsome!
His fighting look is so handsome!!!
I came to the archery field just to see Campus Heartthrob Gu and Campus Heartthrob Yu, but I didn't expect Young Master Jiang to be here too!
Mu Youyu saw outsiders bullying her three childhood friends, trembled with anger, and called the campus security.
Hey, at the archery field, someone's fighting……
She also called the police, paying attention to her surroundings.
She didn't rush over to add chaos for Jiang Liangjin, but first helped Gu Xingnan up.
Over a dozen people were busy ganging up on Jiang Liangjin, so they didn't pay attention to Gu Xingnan.
Jiang Liangjin heard a familiar voice and instinctively glanced at her.
The people in front saw him distracted and tried to pounce, but Jiang Liangjin didn't turn his head, twisted his wrist, and grabbed the wrist of the person leading the charge.
That person still clutched a broken arrow tip; Jiang Liangjin squeezed until the joints turned blue, and the person groaned in pain.
He made no extra motion, just a light twist; the broken arrow fell to the sand, and he used the force to push the person back, causing the two accomplices behind to stumble and fall in a heap.
"Hey, you got knocked down by a high schooler?" the other accomplices said disparagingly.
"His strength is too great, my hand is about to be ruined, I can't help it!" the fallen person cried, covering his hand.
"You good-for-nothing!"
"What are you standing there for? Come on together!" the bald man ordered.
Yu Ci rubbed his waist and stood beside Gu Xingnan, seeing several people rushing toward Jiang Liangjin, he still wanted to step forward.
But Gu Xingnan raised a hand and lightly held him back.
"Don't cause trouble." He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his tone calm.
Their combat ability isn't high; going up would only distract Jiang Liangjin.
Yu Ci took a deep breath, then obediently stood beside Gu Xingnan, silent.
Mu Youyu calmed down, thinking the same; from just watching their moves, she knew she was absolutely no match for them.
Going up would only add chaos, so she didn't step forward, merely watching Jiang Liangjin from the side.
Mu Youyu glanced sideways, noticing with her peripheral vision that Yu Ci's face bore some injuries.
Perhaps it was from the arrows of that bald gang.
No time to think further, her gaze locked tightly onto Jiang Liangjin again.
