Chapter 478: I'm just tagging along
Jiang Liangjin finally dropped the joking tone, "You didn't say you were going to Y Guo to see your maternal grandfather? And you still have to accompany Lin Ning shopping?"
"Those are just side things." Mu Youyu tilted her head slightly, "Mainly I just want to go out and have fun."
After studying for so long, it's time to relax a bit.
Jiang Liangjin pondered, "After their birthdays, we could first go to Y Guo, stay a few days, then go to M Guo?"
"Then let's go to B Shi as well," Song Huaixian-gege and the others said they'd take me to eat something good. "On the way we could also visit Older Brother Xu's school; you didn't say he summoned you to B Da?"
"He was calling you." Jiang Liangjin corrected, "I'm just tagging along."
"Then we can just stop by there as well." Mu Youyu hammered out the decision, "We'll head back to C Shi just in time for Older Brother Lu Jing's birthday at the end of the month."
The two of them settled the itinerary on the sofa with just a few words.
When Qing An carried Youbao back, it was already almost eight o'clock.
The cat jumped down from Qing An's arms, walked with elegant steps to Mu Youyu's feet, rubbed against them twice, then flopped onto the ground, revealing its round belly.
Jiang Liangjin: "This cat is really lazy."
Qing An came over happily, beaming with pride, "Sister, look, it's become close to me now."
Mu Youyu lowered her head to glance at the cat belly-up at her feet, then looked at Qing An's face full of "praise me," and nodded in agreement, "Yes, it likes you."
Qing An sat down contentedly beside her, picked up Youbao and placed it on his lap.
The cat didn't struggle, merely shifted position and continued sleeping, its tail dangling and swaying, exuding a hint of leisure.
Jiang Liangjin lowered his head to look at her, "What time did you go to sleep?"
"I don't know, anyway it was very late."
"What were you doing?"
Mu Youyu answered vaguely, "I just lay there and lay there until morning."
"I see."
Qing An had long grown accustomed to their conversational style, silently stroking the cat without interjecting.
The living room door was pushed open, and Mu Xi walked in; seeing her sister at this hour, she raised an eyebrow, "Getting up so early, I thought the baby would sleep until midnight."
Mu Youyu opened her mouth to retort, then realized she really had nothing to say, so she saved the effort of explaining and blinked her eyes twice.
Mu Xi smiled indulgently, sat down beside her sister, "It's fine to sleep a little longer during the break."
He reached out, probed the fruit on the table's platter, picked up a piece of honeydew melon and took a bite, "Have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet." Mu Youyu lifted her head from the pillow, "I'm waiting for you."
Mu Xi wiped her hands, "Has A Jin eaten?"
Jiang Liangjin shook his head, "No, I'm waiting for Youbao to eat together."
Qing An: "I haven't eaten either; I'm waiting for Xiao Xi to eat together."
Mu Xi: "Who asked you?"
"I don't know either."
Mu Xi didn't respond, her gaze lingering on Jiang Liangjin for a moment.
Jiang Liangjin lifted his eyes, "What's up, Second Brother?"
"Nothing." Mu Xi averted her gaze, becoming a bit more serious than before, "Huaixian-ge just called, asking when we'll be over."
"Not decided yet." Mu Youyu set aside the pillow in her arms, "Liangjin said we'll sleep another day tomorrow, then see the day after."
Mu Xi glanced at Jiang Liangjin, whose expression was normal; obviously she had been dragged out by her sister to serve as a shield.
"Then the day after tomorrow it is." Mu Xi made the decision for him, pulled out her phone, and replied to Song Huaixian with a message.
On the day of Song Huaiyu and his two brothers' birthdays, their mother is a native of B Shi, and she also studied at university there, so the birthday was set here.
In June, B Shi is somewhat hotter than C Shi, the air filled with a dry heat.
When they got out of the car, Mu Youyu, who had been blowing the air conditioner for a long time, was hit in the face by the blast of hot wind and ducked behind Jiang Liangjin.
Jiang Liangjin turned sideways to shield her a bit, then opened his umbrella.
The hotel is located in a garden on the outskirts of the city, its grounds occupying an exaggeratedly large area.
Song Huaixian stood at the hotel entrance, wearing a dark casual suit, his blond hair shorter than the last time they met.
Beside him stood Song Huaiyu, wearing the same suit style but a shade lighter; the two brothers stood together, their side profiles almost carved from the same mold.
Seeing the car stop, Song Huaixian hurried forward, opening the car door faster than a bellboy, "Welcome, little princess!"
Mu Youyu replied, "There was a bit of traffic on the road; have you been waiting long, Huaixian-gege?"
"Not long, not long, just over an hour." Song Huaixian chuckled, stepped aside to make way for her, "Come, princess, this way please."
Jiang Liangjin lowered his umbrella and escorted Mu Youyu up the steps.
Mu Youyu lifted her skirt as she walked up the steps, catching sight of Song Huaiyu also approaching from the corner of her eye; his expression was surprised, "Youbao came this early?"
"We had originally planned to come yesterday, but Older Brother Yan Yan had something come up."
Song Huaixian leaned back, "And where is A Yan?"
Mu Youyu explained, "He's still on the road, not traveling with us."
Jiang Liangjin followed behind, "Yes."
"Alright."
Song Huaixian leaned in mysteriously, "Guess what I've prepared?"
Mu Youyu ventured, "Cake?"
"Definitely, and not just that."
"Who?"
"Not just that either."
Mu Youyu shook her head, and Song Huaiyu smugly raised his chin, "You'll find out soon enough."
After saying that, he turned and led the way ahead, his steps light and quick like an elementary school student on a spring outing.
Mu Youyu followed behind him into the hotel lobby, glanced up at the huge crystal chandelier on the dome, then lowered her gaze and swept her eyes around the corner.
Compared to the two people's coming-of-age ceremony, this isn't very formal.
She had wanted to ask why they didn't go to Brother Huaixian's house, but she didn't say much.
Several people took the elevator to the second floor, where quite a few were already seated.
As soon as Mu Youyu entered, she saw Mu Xi sitting in a spot near the middle, head down looking at her phone, while Song Lujing beside her had earphones plugged in.
Mu Nian and Mu Xianqi were quietly conversing with an elder beside them.
The Song brothers had all arrived, sitting together at one table, their outstanding demeanor drawing frequent sideways glances from the crowd.
Mu Youyu walked over, intending to sit next to Mu Xi, but Song Huaixian had already pulled out a chair, saying, "Come sit here."
After sitting beside Mu Youyu, Jiang Liangjin let his gaze wander aimlessly around the banquet hall.
The banquet wasn't large, with about two hundred guests.
Besides family, most were the two brothers' classmates and friends from B City, along with some of the Song Family's partners here.
The atmosphere was much more relaxed than other occasions in C City, yet many people deliberately gravitated toward the main table,
Mu Youyu noticed a girl in black casual wear sitting at a table near the corner, her features strikingly cold and beautiful.
The girl sensed her gaze, turned her head, glanced at her, the corner of her mouth slightly curved, and she gave a small wave.
Mu Youyu recalled that this person was Huaixian's high school classmate; she had seen her when studying in A City, and returned a faint smile.
The girl withdrew her gaze, lifted the glass before her, and took a sip.
Beside her sat a gray-haired boy of the same age, head down scrolling his phone; unknown what was playing on the screen, his sense of humor seemed low, his shoulders shaking with laughter.
Jiang Liangjin:?
