Chapter 494: What matters most is you

~6 min read 1,141 words

He wanted to see when those few people sitting there would dare to speak to him.

Go to jail?

The general manager's face turned completely white, and he instinctively looked toward the overseas business division president in the corner, full of plea.

The latter, however, acted as if he hadn't seen it, keeping his head down and refusing to speak.

Jiang Liangjin didn't break, and the notification sound of the phone on the table rang.

He glanced at it, and the screen showed a new message—just a few characters—that made him relax a little.

Jiang Liangjin picked up his phone, stood up while replying to the message, his tone indifferent: "Then I'll choose the second option for you—meeting adjourned."

As his words fell, he walked straight out of the conference room, leaving a room full of executives staring at each other.

The special assistant gathered the documents on the table, saying, "Adjourned, everyone get back to work."

The company staff let out a sigh of relief and left one after another.

The vice president of the conglomerate headquarters slowly rose, gave those few a cold stare, and warned sternly: "You should have learned the Shen clan's rules when you joined; what needs to be disclosed should be disclosed early. If it's late, it's no longer a matter of disclosure."

As the conference room door closed behind him, the few who remained finally couldn't hold back.

"What does he mean? The second option? Directly sending us to eat prison food?" the vice president's voice rose uncontrollably.

"And what does that have to do with us having to disclose? This guy, relying on being a Shen family member, has always opposed us!"

As soon as he said that, the president tugged his sleeve, signaling him to speak softer.

"What's there to fear? These are all our own people."

The overseas business division president kept his head down, unsure whether he was thinking of countermeasures or suppressing his emotions.

The general manager, whose leg had been standing for an hour, could no longer support himself and slumped into the chair: "We shouldn't have been greedy; all my assets have been frozen......"

The vice president slammed the table hard, exasperated: "We've already taken what we wanted; what's the use of saying this now? I think Jiang Liangjin is deliberately trying to scare us! He wants us to confess......"

The president coldly interrupted: "Let's go; there's surveillance here. We'll go back and discuss slowly."

"You're talking while sitting without any back pain."

As soon as they opened the door, they were met by several police officers.

Mu Family.

As Mu Youyu got out of the car, Jiang Liangjin's car happened to stop at the villa's gate.

Seeing her get out of Mu Xi's car, he raised his eyebrows slightly: "That fast?"

Even if the concert had just ended, driving shouldn't have been that quick.

Mu Youyu nodded up and down: "Something came up, so I came back."

Jiang Liangjin sensed something from her tone, walked up to her, and glanced at Mu Xi's car.

Mu Xi didn't turn off the engine, lowered the window halfway, revealing a side profile with hardly any expression.

He gave Mu Xi a slight nod; she returned half a nod, pressed the accelerator, and the car slid past the two of them.

"What happened?" Jiang Liangjin withdrew his gaze, looked again at the person in front of him, and, taking the opportunity, put an arm around her shoulders to lead her indoors.

Mu Youyu was embraced by him, and she instinctively leaned into him: "The crystal chandelier in the music hall fell—just the one above my head."

After saying that, she looked at him and added: "Second older brother pulled me up; I'm not hurt. It's just that Cen Cen's arm was scratched, and she went to the hospital."

Jiang Liangjin's hand on her shoulder tightened for a moment, then quickly loosened; although he felt heartache, he feared reminding her of that scene, so his expression remained unchanged: "As long as you're okay, how is the second older brother?"

Mu Youyu shook her head: "Second older brother twisted his wrist; it shouldn't be serious."

The two walked side by side into the living room; the lights were on, but it was empty, with servants busy in the back, and no one in the living room.

Jiang Liangjin brought her to the sofa, had her sit down, sat beside her sideways facing her, and examined her carefully.

Her hair was neat, her clothes bore no bloodstains, no wounds were visible to the naked eye, only her lips were a little paler than usual, probably from fright.

He reached out to feel her forehead; the temperature was normal. "Hand."

Mu Youyu obediently stretched out her hand; he held her wrist, turning it over to examine it, then checked her arm, making sure there were no abrasions before letting go: "Anywhere uncomfortable?"

Mu Youyu felt a bit helpless at his series of actions: "I already said I'm fine."

Jiang Liangjin didn't argue, merely took a lollipop from his pocket, unwrapped the candy wrapper, and brought it to her lips: "You weren't scared, were you?"

Mu Youyu glanced at him, opened her mouth, and took it: "Not bad."

"Youbao is really brave."

Mu Youyu's lips curled as she asked: "How's the investigation going on A Jin's side?"

Jiang Liangjin withdrew his hand, leaning half against the sofa: "It'll be settled soon; I'll talk about it later. This isn't important—right now, what matters most is you. Youbao, do you think it was an accident?"

Mu Youyu fumed: "I don't think so!"

"Alright, I'll have people look into it."

A servant poked her head out from the kitchen, saw the two were there, and then withdrew.

Not long after, they brought out the dishes and placed them on the table one by one; Qing Ma smiled: "Miss, Young Master Jiang, lunch is ready."

Jiang Liangjin stood up, extended his hand: "Come on, Miss, let's eat first."

Mu Youyu spat out the candy, wrapped it up, then handed her hand to him; he pulled her up to stand, and they walked to the edge of the table and sat down.

There weren't many dishes, but they were all her favorites.

Jiang Liangjin sat beside her, picked up the soup spoon, ladled a bowl of soup, and placed it before her.

Mu Youyu ate what was in her bowl, but she rarely reached for the side dishes; for some reason, the dishes she usually liked all tasted bland.

Jiang Liangjin watched her poor appetite, then added another chopstick of greens to her bowl.

Mu Youyu noticed the extra greens in her bowl and finally lifted her gaze to him.

Jiang Liangjin met her gaze, feigning incomprehension, "What's wrong? Can't you eat it? Do you need me to feed Youbao?"
