Chapter 533: Loving the New, Disliking the Old
Shi Che slumped on the sofa, staring at a lone period on his phone screen, looking at it for a full five minutes before daring to believe he wasn't seeing things.
He went back and forth reading the chat log several times, and that aloof guy You actually replied with just a period.
It wasn't that he read it and didn't reply; he replied with a period!
That's a period! A period, a period!
Shi Che excitedly rolled around on the sofa, nearly falling off the edge, then quickly grabbed the armrest to steady himself.
As he was about to go downstairs for morning practice, the bodyguard passing the office thought expressionlessly: What madness is the young master up to now?
The phone rang again, and Shi Che thought it was another message from You, springing up to see—it was a message from his older brother Shi Yan.
Jueqing Ge: 【The piano matter is settled. Come back to Y Guo now, Aunt has woken up—let's go see your cousin.】
Shi Che: 【Can I go with the workers to see You? He sounds young.】
Jueqing Ge: 【No, I haven't seen you; if you're not home before noon, you're done for 【smile】.】
Shi Che stared at that smiling Expression, a chill ran down his back.
The next day at noon after school, a low-profile box truck arrived at the villa gate.
Mu Youyu was lounging in the living room playing a game when she heard a commotion outside, her hands still on the controller, she asked, "What's that?"
Jiang Liangjin realized the time, got up and walked to the door, saying, "I'll go check."
Mu Youyu followed him outside, but as soon as she reached the doorway she was startled by the scene outside.
Four or five men in matching black work uniforms were lifting a huge wooden crate from the truck bed together, moving it inward, the outer layer of the crate wrapped in shock-absorbing material.
The leader, while directing, kept murmuring, "Slowly, slowly."
When Mu Youyu made out the crate's outline, she froze for a moment—a piano?
Jiang Liangjin stepped aside at the doorway, gesturing toward the piano room, "Take it to the innermost room on the second floor."
Mu Youyu tugged at his sleeve, "Did you buy this piano?"
"I asked someone for it." Jiang Liangjin said lightly, "The older brother apparently didn't much like the Star Sink piano before, so let's get a new one for him to try."
Mu Youyu wanted to speak but held back; indeed, the second older brother who loves the new and dislikes the old hardly uses the Star Sink piano anymore.
The workers set the crate down firmly in the center of the piano room, "Perfect."
Hearing the commotion, Mu Xi came out of the bedroom and headed to the piano room.
"What are you doing here?" Mu Xi frowned instinctively upon seeing outsiders.
But just glimpsing the crate from the doorway, and knowing this is the piano room, it was obvious what it was.
He walked over, circled the crate, lightly pressed the seal, and asked, "Did you bring this in?"
And there was the familiar logo as well.
"Yeah, an acquaintance helped get it here."
After Jiang Liangjin admitted it, he added: "It's En Yin Lun Xia Ge's sixth piano, the older brother's piano."
Mu Youyu clapped along, "Wow, what a great piano!"
Mu Xi's Expression changed subtly.
He of course knew what this was!
En Yin Lun Xia Ge's sixth piano was released two years earlier than the seventh.
Back then, En Yin Lun Xia Ge himself mentioned in his diary that this piano carried a special meaning; it was never given an official name, and later generations followed his wish and did not add one.
As for the piano's whereabouts, only industry insiders know—it was collected by the heir of a reclusive family in Y Guo, and many in the circle who wanted to buy it couldn't.
He had also considered it before; Jun Chenling knew he liked this piano and that its current owner happened to be in Y Guo, so he proactively helped inquire around.
He didn't expect the other side to outright ignore him—not even giving face to the Prince of Y Guo—and so the matter fizzled out.
And now they're outright saying it's his piano?
"Your friend has quite a background." Mu Xi said in a flat tone, but everyone present could hear the waver in his words.
Jiang Liangjin chuckled, "Not bad, just that the Future Path is a bit wild."
Also a bit foolish.
Mu Xi looked at the workers and said, "Unpack and set it up."
The workers opened the wooden crate, revealing the black piano inside; the lid was engraved with En Yin Lun Xia Ge's logo and the same emblem as the Star Sink, gleaming subduedly in the light.
The leader wiped sweat from his forehead, took out a slip from his pocket, and asked Jiang Liangjin to sign for receipt.
Jiang Liangjin took the pen, signed, and they tidied up before withdrawing.
Mu Xi lightly brushed the piano body, placed his fingers back on the keys, pressed a few notes— the tone was clear and full, resonating in the piano room.
Seeing is believing; now that he's seen it, it's truly far prettier than in pictures, and its tone doesn't lose to the Star Sink!
His expression warmed again and again, "Baby's right—it really is a fine piano."
Mu Youyu nodded repeatedly.
Mu Xi stopped testing the sound, withdrew his hands, fixed Jiang Liangjin with a blazing gaze, and said, "A Jin, are you really giving me this piano?"
"Yes."
Mu Xi hooked an arm, "Thanks, dear A Jin."
"This is what I should do."
After Jiang Liangjin replied, he immediately added, "Older brother, Youbao and I are heading out first."
Mu Youyu blinked, not yet having time to ask where they were going, when Jiang Liangjin gently grabbed her wrist.
Mu Xi turned back, forced a smile, already eager to go out and show off his beloved piano, "Go on, stay safe, have fun."
"Goodbye, older brother."
"Bye-bye, older brother."
After a simple farewell, the piano room door closed as well.
Mu Youyu was led by Jiang Liangjin as they walked out, she whispered softly: "Where are we going?"
"Just wandering around, we'll head back after class this afternoon." Jiang Liangjin drew her closer to himself, "It's rare that the second brother wants to be alone; don't disturb him."
Mu Youyu couldn't help twitching the corner of her mouth, realizing the other meaning behind his words, she asked: "Are you saying the second brother is in the way?"
"No," Jiang Liangjin opened the car door and helped her in, "but even if I find the whole world annoying, I won't find you annoying."
Mu Youyu reminded: "I'm talking about the second brother."
Jiang Liangjin knew, "I'm talking about you."
The car headed toward the city center, she leaned against the seat, "But where did you get this zither from a friend?"
Jiang Liangjin pondered for a moment, then replied: "A friend I don't really want him to meet you."
Mu Youyu:?
Jiang Liangjin chuckled slightly, resting his head on her shoulder, "He's not a good person; it's better if Ah Yu doesn't meet him."
"Alright, alright." Mu Youyu felt helpless from his teasing, but she didn't ask further.
