Chapter 537: We Are Couple Outfits
Beside her, Mu Youyu and Jiang Liangjin recalled that they were friends of Mu Xi, but unfortunately they couldn't recall each other's names.
"Got something, got something!" The guy familiarly leaned against the car, his arm slung over Mu Xi's shoulder, grinning, "Xixi, where are you headed? If it's on my way, give me a ride."
Mu Xi stepped lightly to the side, dodging his outstretched hand, "My license is gone—I can't drive, can't carry passengers."
? Then why did you drive over here?
The guy's eyes roved over Mu Xi's face, trying to catch a hint of joking in his expression.
Alright, I didn't find any.
He asked, bewildered: "No, then how did you drive over? Isn't this car parked here? I recognize your license plate."
Mu Xi: "Hmm, driving without a license."
Guy:???
His expression was bewildered: "Xixi, are you serious? This isn't a joke, right? If caught, you'd be detained."
Mu Xi spoke calmly: "No problem, my family's rich—I can buy my way out."
Mu Youyu lowered her head silently.
When Jiang Liangjin's gaze landed on him, the guy finally found his voice: "Your joke isn't funny at all."
Jiang Liangjin timely said: "Senior, actually we're not going the same way."
The guy finally realized he wasn't very welcome, gave an embarrassed laugh, stepped back two paces, "Okay, okay, I won't bother you, Xixi—let's reschedule another day, I'll treat you to porridge, you have to come!"
He wouldn't even spring for a meal, Mu Xi had nothing to say; he opened the car door, waited for both to get in, then went around to the driver's seat.
The guy watched the car pull out of the parking spot, then slowly withdrew his gaze, muttering, "Driving without a license—who are you kidding?"
Inside the car, Mu Youyu watched via the rearview mirror as that guy's figure grew smaller, "That guy just now was the one who shouted the loudest at my second older brother's birthday parties these past years."
"Right, I remember." Jiang Liangjin added, "He even said, 'Xixi, I love you forever.'"
Mu Xi was speechless, "I don't know him."
The day for departing to the A City comic exhibition was set for Friday morning at 9:30, with everyone gathering at the main gate of C University's Art School.
With an hour left until the meeting, Mu Youyu first went to the Jiang Consortium.
Upon arrival, the front desk attendant was lowering her head to take a call; out of the corner of her eye she saw someone enter and instinctively lifted her eyelids, "Good day, Miss Mu!"
Mu Youyu gave her a slight smile and headed straight for the private elevator.
Only after she walked away did the employees dare to start gossiping.
"When are those two getting married? Last time General Manager Jiang's public confession succeeded, he handed out year-end bonuses and gifts to the whole company!"
She could hardly wait to get the gifts when those two get married.
"Exactly! And this is an extra perk—not given in advance; we still have another one for the New Year… so by then it'll be more than just year-end bonuses and gifts, hehe."
"What are you talking about? They're still too young to get married."
"..."
Mu Youyu approached the private elevator doors, but before she got close, a staff member in a black suit hurried up, blocking the way, head lowered, "May I ask who you're looking for?"
"I'm looking for your General Manager Jiang." Mu Youyu pulled down her mask.
The staff member pointed to a lounge on one side of the lobby, polite: "Ma'am, sorry, General Manager Jiang has a private schedule this morning and isn't seeing visitors—Miss Mu! You can certainly go in!"
Upon seeing her face, the speaker's tone did an abrupt about‑face, voice a notch higher: "General Manager Jiang is in the lounge beside his office upstairs; I'll call the elevator for you."
While apologizing, he stepped aside to clear the path, quickly walked to the elevator and pressed the up button.
Mu Youyu looked at his tense, on‑guard demeanor and casually said, "Okay."
The staff member gave an awkward smile twice, didn't dare reply, and stayed rigid the whole time.
The elevator doors opened, Mu Youyu walked in, nodded at him, "Thanks."
"No problem, no problem! It's my duty!" He stood outside the elevator, only exhaling a long breath after the doors closed.
Inside the top‑floor lounge.
Jiang Yuan gazed lazily at his nephew before him, speaking earnestly: "You, you still need to put some heart into your work—if the company isn't run well, how can we support a family?"
"No way." Jiang Liangjin's lips twitched slightly, "Aren't you the one overseeing the company right now?"
Who knows where this uncle picked up that line.
Jiang Yuan glared at him, "All you know is how to order me around."
"Uncle, the able bear more labor."
"You…" Jiang Yuan took a deep breath, out of the corner of his eye saw a shadow at the doorway, turned his head, saw Mu Youyu poking her head in, and instantly changed his expression.
"Yo, Ah‑You's here? Come in, come in, why are you standing at the door?"
Mu Youyu pushed the door open, smiling warmly, "Hello, Uncle."
Jiang Liangjin rose from behind his desk, walked around it, and approached—his demeanor completely different from before—"Why didn't you give me a heads‑up? I could have come down to meet you."
"It's not like I don't know the way." Mu Youyu tilted her head, "What was Uncle just saying? I thought I heard something about supporting a family."
Jiang Yuan gave a light cough, covering up: "Nothing, nothing—I'm just educating my careless nephew to take his studies more seriously."
Jiang Liangjin didn't call him out, merely leaned a bit toward his girlfriend, then blinked, indicating he truly felt no resentment.
Mu Youyu's protective instinct kicked in: "Uncle, A Jin is low‑maintenance and studies diligently too!"
Jiang Yuan conceded: "Fine, fine, you two are a team—I can't argue with you. Aren't you still heading to A City? Let's go, let's go."
Jiang Liangjin picked up the jacket draped over the chair back, took Mu Youyu's hand with the other, "Well then, Uncle, we're off first."
Jiang Yuan had already sat back in his seat, waving a hand without lifting his head, "Go on, go on—drop me a message when you get there."
"Got it."
The two arrived at the school's main gate, where a luxury bus was already parked.
Several classmates were standing by the bus chatting, dressed casually, giving no hint they were about to attend an academic event.
Qiao Xin stood on tiptoe, gazing toward the school gate; spotting the goddess she'd long admired, she instantly raised her hand and waved vigorously, "Goddess! Over here! Over here!"
Mu Youyu quickened her steps and walked over; Qiao Xin had already come forward to meet her, "You look so good today, is there some special arrangement?"
The more she looked, the hotter her gaze became; Mu Youyu wore a blue gradient outer jacket today, paired with a white shirt inside, then matching pants, and her pink-gold long hair fell over her shoulders.
"No." She answered with a smile.
Qiao Xin couldn't help but move closer, "Goddess, you make me look so good, hehe."
Jiang Liangjin put an arm around Mu Youyu's shoulders with a blank expression, declaring possessively: "We're wearing couple outfits."
And there's not even a hint of color difference.
Qiao Xin noticed, but she actually didn't really want to hear it.
