Chapter 540: Seven-three split

~7 min read 1,325 words

Shi Che was momentarily blocked by those two words, but his Smile didn't fade; instead, he smiled even wider, "How come you don't know me? It's precisely because I know you that seeing you here made me want to say hello."

Mu Youyu politely replied, "We don't want to say hello to you."

Shi Che recalled the unfinished task from a few months ago, still gritting his teeth, "No, I'm not here to cause trouble. Last time at the restaurant, we chatted a bit, you forgot? My friend is still beside me, that is——"

He gestured in the air, trying to describe the appearance of his cheerful friend, gestured twice then gave up, "Forget it, anyway I've seen him before."

Jiang Liangjin didn't want to hear more, turned sideways and grabbed Mu Youyu's wrist, preparing to go around him, "If you keep blocking, I'll call security."

Shi Che was jolted by that impolite remark, only then realizing something, his gaze locked onto his face and didn't shift for a long while.

He moved his lips, letting out a muffled mutter from between his teeth: "Your voice……"

Jiang Liangjin's steps didn't stop.

Shi Che followed behind, the Smile on his face already replaced by confusion.

He quickened his pace two steps, yet didn't dare get too close, keeping a distance of more than a step, tentatively asking, "Your voice sounds so familiar—have we met before?"

Jiang Liangjin didn't even turn his head.

Mu Youyu's gaze was pitying; this person's speech was all over the place, premise and conclusion mismatched, making her suspect his brain had been knocked full of holes.

Seeing this, Shi Che grew more anxious, his steps quickened a bit more, wanting to go ahead and intercept them, "No, don't go……"

That name turned over and over on his tongue, yet he never managed to say it.

He wasn't sure, even feeling his guess was a bit absurd—how could that person possibly appear here, so young, and still holding the hand of the Mu Family's eldest daughter.

Jiang Liangjin finally stopped, turned his face, "I said, if you keep blocking I'll call security."

Shi Che felt a chill down his back under that look, instinctively raised both hands in a surrender gesture, and retreated two steps.

He unwillingly added, "I'm not harassing you; I'm here to discuss cooperation, to talk cooperation with your brother. Ai Luoxiu, your brother, right?"

Mu Youyu and Jiang Liangjin neither responded, just stared at him.

Seeing this, Shi Che hurriedly pulled out his phone from his pocket, pulled up a chat window, and held it before the two, "Look, I'm really discussing matters with your brother."

"We had agreed to meet nearby; he hasn't arrived yet, so I came first to stroll the art exhibition. I didn't intentionally come to block you."

The screen indeed showed a chat log, the chat with Mu Xin's work account; the last entry was a location sent by the other party, right near the Exhibition Hall.

Jiang Liangjin glanced at it, his tone unchanged: "Oh."

Mu Youyu mimicked the tone, putting on a face just like her boyfriend's: "Oh."

After saying that, the two walked side by side past him.

Shi Che stood in place, watching those two silhouettes disappear toward the Exhibition Hall entrance, finally ceasing to try to get close.

Embarrassment is embarrassment; if it weren't for his brother's request a few months ago to get close to Mu Youyu, he wouldn't be so shameless, still risking being beaten out just to say they're friends.

If this got out, in his circle he'd be laughed at for a year; close friends would tease him about it, and strangers wouldn't refrain from gossiping behind his back.

"Your voice really sounds alike." He muttered to himself, tossing the coffee cup into the nearby trash can.

His phone vibrated once; it was a message from Mu Xin: "【Person?】"

Shi Che sighed, pressed down those chaotic thoughts in his mind, turned and headed toward the Exhibition Hall's exit.

Another day of being a slave to his brother.

Mu Youyu pulled Jiang Liangjin along for a good distance before their pace slowed.

"How utterly bizarre." She frowned slightly, her Expression caught between speechless and amused.

Jiang Liangjin lowered his eyes to comfort her, "We'll ignore him. Let's go, first get something to eat; the meeting time is still early."

The two walked along the tree-lined path outside the Exhibition Hall for a few minutes, stopping at the entrance of a restaurant.

Jiang Liangjin pushed open the door, turned sideways to let her go in first, and found a seat farther inside.

He took a napkin from the table, bent over to wipe the water stains off the surface, then reached over to wipe the spot in front of Mu Youyu back and forth twice.

Mu Youyu watched his movements, waiting until he finished before saying, "We're not touching this anyway—why wipe it?"

Jiang Liangjin balled up the napkin and tossed it into the nearby trash can, "Afraid you'll get your clothes dirty—have a seat."

After sitting down, Mu Youyu lowered her head to look at her outfit, "These clothes weren't picked by you, were they?"

"So it's even more important not to get them dirty." Jiang Liangjin said seriously, "I spent a long time picking them out."

Mu Youyu laughed at his show of merit, "Thank you, Manager Jiang, Manager Jiang, you've worked hard."

"Not at all." Jiang Liangjin grasped her hand, even deliberately rubbing the back of her hand lightly, "Choosing clothes for my girlfriend is my honor."

Mu Youyu smiled, didn't pull her hand away, letting him hold it.

Her eyes flashed; she freed her other hand to pick up her phone and sent Mu Xin a few messages.

Shi Che arrived at the coffee shop where Mu Xin was, setting aside the doubts that had just been troubling him, he stepped forward quickly, "Sorry, sorry, I took up your time."

Mu Xin raised his head, pushing half the document over, his tone calm: "I've mostly settled the cooperation details here; only the overseas channel profit-sharing ratio remains to be settled."

Shi Che took the document, opened it, and his fingertip traced a line of the printed clauses.

The doubt that had been lingering in his heart wouldn't dissipate; Jiang Liangjin really resembled that person too much, his thoughts were scattered, making it inevitable that he'd zone out a bit.

He skimmed the content hastily, not really absorbing it, "Overall the clauses are fine; it's just that our side's supply chain connection cycle is half a month longer than estimated—this needs to be clearly noted in the supplementary clauses to avoid later disputes over breach."

"Then we'll split fifty-fifty, Manager Mu, you have no objections, right?"

I don't know why his brother's project has to cooperate with Mu Xin in Z Country's XY Group, instead of going to Y Country's Duke's Mansion.

Mu Xin didn't respond; just as Shi Che was about to finalize it, he happened to glance down and saw the message his sister had sent.

He changed his mind, "Seven-three split."

The rest will go to my sister as compensation for mental distress.

Plus, there's a time fee for the last time this person dragged me into nonsensical talk, wasting time—after all, his time is very valuable.

?!

Shi Che met those light-blue eyes, feeling flattered and surprised, "Huh? That would be awfully embarrassing."

He scratched his head; if his older brother were here, he too would feel embarrassed to agree, after all, the person opposite is never easy to talk to—why is he suddenly being generous today?

But he's different now; he just said it offhand and casually thought about it—who wouldn't want to take advantage of a bargain?

Shi Che cleared his throat, hurriedly took over the conversation, afraid he would change his mind: "But since Manager Mu..."

Mu Xin: "I get seven, you get three."

Shi Che: "......"
