Chapter 594: Any Color Looks Good
The three chatted on and off, and the meal ran a bit longer than expected.
By the time Mu Youyu put down her chopsticks, the night outside had grown completely dark.
Shen Ningmu patted the sofa beside her, gesturing for her to come sit, and Mu Youyu leaned into her.
Shen Ningmu lightly tapped the back of her hand, asking concernedly, "Have you looked at tomorrow's dress? Does it fit? Do you want any alterations?"
"I've seen it, it fits," Mu Youyu said somewhat vaguely, "but I've forgotten the exact details."
"You child," Shen Ningmu said helplessly, "We don't leave until four tomorrow afternoon, so there's still time; if anything's off, I'll have someone fix it."
Mu Youyu linked her arm with hers, voice sweet and soft: "Thank you, Aunt Shen."
Shen Ningmu couldn't stay annoyed at that thanks, smiling as she pinched Mu Youyu's cheek: "All right, all right, we have things to do tomorrow, Ah You should sleep early tonight, don't stay up late."
Mu Youyu easily slipped away from Shen Ningmu.
The next morning, she groggily reached for her phone and glanced at the screen—it was still before eight.
Mu Youyu turned over, hoping to go back to sleep, but realized she was fully awake, so she slowly sat up to get ready.
As she went downstairs, Jiang Liangjin was already dressed, sitting on the sofa looking at his phone; hearing her footsteps, he looked slightly surprised: "You're up that early? Breakfast is still warm."
Mu Youyu walked over to him and asked, "When did you wake up?"
He set his phone aside, stood up, and walked with her to the dining room.
Halfway through the meal, Mu Youyu blinked and said, "There's still time; I'm going out to get my nails done."
"Go out? Weren't we supposed to have someone come to the house?" Jiang Liangjin asked, puzzled. "The team Lin Ning recommended in the group chat last time can do home visits, right?"
Mu Youyu snorted, "I just want to go to the salon."
Jiang Liangjin didn't insist, "Then I'll come with you; I don't have anything planned this morning anyway."
Mu Youyu set down her breakfast, wiped her hands with a wet wipe, and held them out to him: "Then help me check—what color would suit me?"
Jiang Liangjin obliged, taking her hand and examining it from all angles, even giving it a squeeze, "Your hands would look good in any color, sweetheart."
Mu Youyu pulled her hand back, "That answer is too perfunctory; I want to choose myself."
"Fine, you choose," Jiang Liangjin acquiesced.
Upon arriving at the nail salon and pushing the door open, the air wasn't overly strong with nail polish smell.
Instead, there floated a scent blending floral-fruit and premium woody notes, indescribably elegant.
At the front desk stood a woman in a light gray suit and silk scarf; seeing them arrive, she slightly bowed, smiled, and led them to the innermost private room.
"Welcome, Miss Mu; your reserved private room is ready."
The private room was arranged like a small meeting lounge, with the wall‑side sofa covered in off‑white cushions.
Before them, the coffee table held several plates of delicate pastries and sliced fruit, plus a cup of freshly brewed herbal tea.
In the seating area sat a spacious nail station, and the whole room lacked any harsh chemical odor.
A nail technician in uniform stepped forward, holding a thick color swatch book and several design sketches, her manner gentle.
"Miss Mu, would you like a pattern or a solid color? I have a few new designs here you can look at first; if you spot any elements you like, we can adjust them anytime."
Mu Youyu flipped through a few pages of the color board, then lowered her head to check reference images on her phone, pointing to one and elaborating on her ideas in a few sentences.
The nail technician listened attentively to her finish, nodded, and began preparing the tools.
Next, another staff member in the same uniform entered with a tray, placing a small portion of soufflé on the tea table beside her.
Another nail technician went to a nearby cabinet, took out tools, and started the procedure.
"How long will it take?" Jiang Liangjin sat on the sofa beside her, voice gentle.
Mu Youyu usually came with her friends; he had never accompanied her before.
"About five hours," the staff member said, head down as she began working on the nail surface.
"All right, then after Ah You finishes we'll go change into our outfits."
Jiang Liangjin's gaze fell on his fiancée's hand; he casually opened her tablet, launched the drama she'd been watching recently, and propped it up in front of the nail station.
Mu Youyu started watching the drama, "Nice."
After five hours, Jiang Liangjin barely glanced at his phone the whole time, mostly chatting with Mu Youyu, watching the drama, or occasionally feeding her snacks.
The nail technician beside them kept her head down, her hands moving steadily, never lifting her eyes to the clients, yet every word of their conversation drifted clearly into her ears.
She silently sighed, "Rich, handsome, patient—his girlfriend gets her nails done for five hours and he doesn't even touch his phone; what a great guy."
When it was done, Mu Youyu admired her new nails—medium‑long pointed tips, the base color an extension of last night's misty blue, the tips dotted with fine silver sparkle; she loved them.
She just wasn't sure how long they'd last; if they got in the way while she painted, she'd probably take them off.
The business banquet was held in a newly completed banquet hall in the city center.
When Mu Youyu arrived, the outskirts were already lined with many luxury cars; she and Jiang Liangjin entered hand in hand, their outfits still a blue‑pink combination.
Inside, the hall held medium‑sized round tables, each seating about ten people, with the front‑row seats already reserved.
Beside her sat Jiang Liangjin, then further over were Mu Xi and Mu Xin; she didn't see them, presumably they were still en route.
Jiang Liangjin pulled out her chair, unfolded the napkin on the table, and placed it before her: "You can eat something; don't worry about others."
Mu Youyu nodded, sat down, and swept her gaze across the banquet hall.
Indeed, quite a few people had come; nearby were several familiar faces, farther away were those she'd only seen in the news.
As Mu Youyu was looking around, Song Yusui walked over from that direction, saying, "Yo, sweetheart, Ah Jin, you're early—I thought you'd show up at the last minute."
"Good thing we left early," Mu Youyu said, tilting her head slightly, "Didn't Third Uncle come today?"
"Nope, Dad couldn't make it today," Song Yusui replied, taking the empty seat beside her, "By the way, I brought that new car I bought earlier; after the event, want me to give you a ride?"
"When did Brother Yusui buy another car?" Mu Youyu asked curiously.
Song Yusui's eyebrows lit up, "Just arrived last week."
Jiang Liangjin lifted his eyes, "Congratulations, Brother Yusui, on adding another new favorite."
"What new favorite? It's just a passing thing…" Song Yusui muttered a few words, caught sight of a figure out of the corner of his eye, then sped up his speech, "I'll go over first—Chu Chu is here."
The two looked toward the direction he had left, Lu Yuchu was standing not far away, tilting his head slightly to listen to the person beside him speaking.
Song Yusui stood beside him, beginning to help him sort out a few people.
