Chapter 632: Celebrating the New Official's Appointment
Song Huaixian made a tsk sound, handed the gift he had with him to the birthday person, lounging, "Here, your coming‑of‑age gift."
Yu Ci saw the box, his eyes lit up instantly; Song Yusui over there stopped caring, lunged forward and hugged the box, "Xian‑ge, you're my real brother!"
Song Huaixian flinched back at that shout, "Don't shout so loud."
Yu Ci tucked the gift box into his arms, excitedly declared, "I announce that from today on, you are my half‑brother!"
Song Huaixian was uncooperative: "I refuse."
Yu Ci acted as if he hadn't heard, cradling the precious gift as he pulled Gu Xingnan onto the stage.
Mu Youyu was used to it; the few of them had grown up together since childhood, and apart from Mu Xi, Yu Ci had always missed and most wanted to acknowledge Song Huaixian as his brother.
Song Lujing let out an "eh", turned to Song LuXiao, "Brother, everyone else's younger siblings have gifts—where's mine?"
Song LuXiao pushed the untouched cake on the table toward him, "Here, here."
Having cake to eat is already nice; still want a gift?
He doesn't have any.
"Stingy." Song Lujing doesn't much like sweets, so he pushed that piece of cake toward his sister, "Sis, come eat."
Mu Youyu scooped a bite with her fork, "Thanks, Lu‑jing gege."
"That's what a brother should do." Seeing her eat, Song Lujing leaned back in his chair and picked up his phone to scroll again.
Mu Xin reached out and pushed the untouched plate of fruit in front of him toward her, "Dear, have some fruit."
Mu Youyu still had cake in her mouth, she hummed indistinctly, then picked up her fork and speared a piece of honeydew melon.
Song LuXiao was bored; seeing his sister being fed one after another, he pulled out a black card and slapped it on the table, "Take it, buy whatever you like—don't use their cards."
Song Yusui leaned over, wanting to grab that card, "Wow, my dear Lu‑xiao gege, what's the limit on this card?"
Song LuXiao slapped his hand away, "None of your business—it's not for you."
Song Yusui wouldn't give up, "Then how much are you giving our baby?"
Song LuXiao gave him a sideways glance, "What's it to you?"
Mu Youyu glanced at the card, then at the expressions of the several brothers, smiled helplessly, "I already have enough cards."
Song LuXiao nudged the card toward her again, his finger wiggling in the air, "A sister should spend her brother's money."
Song Yusui reached out again to grab it, but Song LuXiao anticipated it and slapped his hand back, "Don't touch it."
"Just a quick touch."
"One touch and I'll deduct a million."
Song Yusui immediately withdrew his hand, "Fine, you're the brother."
Song LuXiao gave a smile that didn't reach his eyes, "Even calling him Dad wouldn't work."
Mu Youyu feared they'd start arguing, someone might come to her for judgment, so she furtively tugged Jiang Liangjin's sleeve, and the two slipped away amid the chaos to find Yu Ci.
The election results were announced a week later, Mu Youyu's name hung in the first line of the chairperson column, the suffix clear and distinct.
The news spread in the class group chat; Qiao Xin sent over twenty‑plus "congratulations" emoji packs, and also sent her a solo voice message—opening it revealed a minute‑long scream.
The first second Mu Youyu heard it, she quickly lowered the volume, replied with a "please have a meal" emoji pack, and the other side instantly replied with an "on standby" animation.
The meal gathering was set for the next day off.
The location was a private restaurant beside the school that Mu Youyu often visited, quiet and suitable for casual chat.
She arrived ten minutes early; as she pushed open the door to the private room, Jiang Liangjin stood with his back to the entrance, head down, arranging the bouquet on the table.
Light‑purple lisianthus, wrapped in paper and tied with an off‑white ribbon.
Hearing the movement, he turned sideways and handed the flowers over.
"Why did you buy flowers?" Mu Youyu took them, her fingertip brushing the ribbon.
"Congratulations on your new post." Jiang Liangjin pulled out a chair for her, adding, "By the way, I'm bribing the newly appointed Chair Mu—so for any future events, remember to save me a front‑row seat."
Mu Youyu sat down holding the flowers, "You're already guaranteed a front‑row seat—no need to bribe."
Jiang Liangjin sat beside her, his tone gentle, "Then let this flower be an early celebration of your re‑election."
Mu Youyu smiled at his words, then lowered her head and placed the flowers on the empty chair beside her.
Feng Cen was the second to arrive; he folded his sunshair, caught sight of the bouquet, raised an eyebrow, "Yo, brother‑in‑law, this ceremony's really on point."
Of course, Jiang Liangjin gave a noncommittal "hmm" with a straight face.
"Enough, change the way you address me." Mu Youyu rubbed her forehead.
"Same, same." Feng Cen sat opposite, unfolding his sun‑protective shirt, "If I'd known, I'd have brought a bouquet too—would've shown more sincerity."
"Just your presence is enough."
"I love hearing that."
When Yu Yu arrived, she also held a bouquet, smaller than Jiang Liangjin's, wrapped in light‑blue paper around white daisies, dotted with a few pale purple little star flowers.
She felt a little embarrassed handing over the flowers: "Sister Mu, congratulations."
Mu Youyu took it, "How thoughtful, Xiao Yu—I really like it."
Yu Yu sat beside her on the other side, eyes shining, "As long as you like it."
Feng Cen tilted his head at the table of four with two bouquets, then glanced at Yu Yu, deliberately drawing out his tone, "You brought flowers but didn't bring me any?"
Yu Yu blinked, "Huh?"
Feng Cen jerked his chin toward Jiang Liangjin's direction; only then did Yu Yu realize, shrinking her neck, "I thought you'd also send one…"
After waiting another two minutes, the last two female guests finally arrived.
Xiaoju waved her hand; Qiao Xin bolted straight to Mu Youyu the moment she entered, speaking rapidly, "Goddess! Congrats, congrats! The hallway was packed—I'm late!"
"No problem, we just got here too." Mu Youyu smiled.
Qiao Xin sat opposite, slammed the table, "From now on the entire student council will be the goddess's domain—I dare anyone to cross me!"
Xiaoju was bewildered, "Has anyone ever crossed you like that?"
That's not the case…… but what if there is one later? With a goddess backing me, I could throw my weight around!
Mu Youyu chuckled, replying in a joking tone: "Don't ruin my reputation."
Qiao Xin: "No way!"
After the dishes were served, Feng Cen raised his cup first, saying, "Come, let's toast our newly appointed chairperson with a drink, wishing our Chair Mu great success in the student council and the ability to keep this bunch in line."
Mu Youyu clinked her cup, "I'll take your kind words."
"Add one." Jiang Liangjin also raised his cup, the rim lightly touching her glass.
Yu Yu hurriedly raised her juice, "I also toast Sister Mu."
Qiao Xin, not wanting to be left behind, lifted her cup and followed up, "Me too!"
Xiao Yu also smiled and raised her cup, "To our princess."
Cups lightly clinked, the warmth in the private room gradually deepened.
Qiao Xin picked up a piece of spare ribs, "Goddess, what do you plan to do for your first activity after taking office?"
"Not decided yet; first look at the existing arrangements, then adjust according to reality." Mu Youyu put down her chopsticks.
Feng Cen was ladling soup, "I thought you would first tidy up internal affairs."
"If the first fire is too strong, it's easy to burn oneself." Jiang Liangjin answered for his fiancée.
Feng Cen glanced at him, "Is your family head in business?"
Before Jiang Liangjin could answer, Mu Youyu answered for him: "I'm a student; he's very well-behaved at school."
Upon hearing that, Feng Cen gave a meaningful "oh" and didn't pursue further.
