Chapter 73: Photo

~7 min read 1,297 words

At the school gate, Mu Youyu had just glanced back twice when she saw Mo Song.

Mo Song still wasn't wearing glasses today, revealing a pair of almond‑shaped eyes, her hair tied in a low ponytail with a pearl hairclip at the bangs, a few strands of loose hair falling at her cheeks, adding a touch of liveliness.

Her whole person exuded a gentle yet not stiff scholarly air.

"Hey!" Mo Song saw Mu Youyu, her eyes lighting up instantly, and she hurried over.

Upon drawing near, she then noticed Jiang Liangjin, Xia Chao Yi, and Bai Yun standing beside Mu Youyu; her steps paused slightly, and she immediately showed a shy yet polite smile, saying, "Hello, I'm Mo Song."

She saw Mu Youyu's post saying "Planning to go out with friends" and knew someone would come.

"Song Song." Mu Youyu, seeing her stand beside her, introduced each person in turn.

Jiang Liangjin politely said, "Jiang Liangjin."

Xia Chao Yi raised an eyebrow, hand in pocket, and said, "Hello, I'm Xia Chao Yi."

Bai Yun's eyes lit up, "Hello, Mo classmate! I'm Bai Yun, the 'Yun' in bamboo Yun!"

She first likes pretty sweet girls, and second likes those with good grades!

Although she had always been together with Xia Chao Yi before, she also talks with her classmates; some girls in class get along with her, but she doesn't like affected girls.

Mo Song obediently said, "Hello."

Bai Yun smiled warmly, "From now on we're in the same class! Mu Youyu's friends are my friends! No need to be so polite."

Mo Song's cheeks flushed slightly, and she said embarrassedly, "Thank you."

Leng Yueyue had previously provoked the Jiang, Yu, and Gu families, been confined at the Guan household and missed school; it was heard that she would later apologize at a banquet and apply to withdraw.

Moreover, Mo Song doesn't live at the Leng household either; she rents a place outside using her scholarship and wages, planning to move into the dorms next semester.

"Let's go, let's go!"

The car drove for over an hour and finally arrived at Wu Meng Zhuang Yuan.

Mo Song got out of the car first, took a delicate parasol from her bag, opened it, walked to Mu Youyu's side, helped her open the car door, and gently lifted the umbrella over her head, saying, "Mu Youyu, the sun is strong—don't get tanned."

Mu Youyu squinted in the sunlight, "Song Song, you're so thoughtful."

Jiang Liangjin: "……"

His motion paused.

Without a word, he stepped out of the car.

Xia Chao Yi came over, bumped his arm, and lowered his voice to laugh, "Sure, this person moves even faster than Brother Jin……"

No sooner had the words fallen than Jiang Liangjin gave him a cool, dismissive glance, and he sensibly shut his mouth.

The iron gate of Wu Meng Zhuang Yuan always opens to both sides; in front stand a few trees, sunlight filtering through layers of leaves casts dappled shadows on the ground.

Mo Song held the umbrella in one hand, her steps matching Mu Youyu's extremely slow pace.

Bai Yun grabbed Xia Chao Yi's sleeve and quick‑stepped after them, lowering her voice: "Brother Jin, what are you doing? Walking so far behind."

Xia Chao Yi glanced back with a raised eyebrow; Jiang Liangjin was walking half a step behind the two, his expression unreadable.

He waved his hand, "I don't know…… Have you checked the map?"

Bai Yun nodded instantly, then turned back to ask, "Shall we go to the flower house first?"

Mu Youyu: "Sure!"

No one else objected.

Upon arrival, Mo Song's eyes were full of wonder, but she didn't want to show it too obviously, only squinting slightly and murmuring, "Mu Youyu, this place looks like a castle from a fairy tale."

Coming into view was a pale beige flower house with transparent doors and windows, nestled among verdant foliage.

From outside one could see most of the interior; at the center of the flower house stands a white fountain, above it a transparent dome, with sunlight pouring down over the thousands of flower varieties.

Under blue skies and white clouds, it resembled a princess's private garden in a fairy‑tale secret realm.

"Yeah." Mu Youyu, her view slightly blocked by the umbrella, lazily didn't lower her gaze and just gave a casual reply.

She was about to step forward when she saw Jiang Liangjin looking at Mo Song, his tone unreadable: "You're holding the umbrella too low—it's blocking her view."

Mo Song's fingers on the umbrella handle paused slightly before she realized she had been focusing on pushing the umbrella surface toward Mu Youyu's head.

The pink rim of the umbrella was almost brushing Mu Youyu's eyebrows.

Her cheeks flushed instantly; she hurriedly tilted the umbrella handle toward herself, saying, "Yes, sorry, Mu Youyu—I didn't notice."

Mu Youyu turned her head to look at her, seeing even her ears reddened, reached out and lightly rested her hand on the umbrella handle to steady it, saying, "It's fine, this is good."

When their fingertips touched, Mo Song flinched as if scalded, whispering, "Good."

Bai Yun saw this, first exclaimed "Yah!", then said, "We've arrived—Song Song, first put the umbrella down!"

Saying that, she handed the bag beside her to Xia Chao Yi.

Mo Song nodded and folded the umbrella.

Bai Yun cheered and ran forward, shouting, "Go, go, go!"

Xia Chao Yi followed after.

Jiang Liangjin went straight to Mu Youyu and said, "Youbao, shall we go in?"

Mu Youyu had just uttered an "mm" when the youth lightly grasped her wrist, leading her into the flower house.

Jiang Liangjin's palm was warm, his hand gently gripping her delicate wrist, his pace unhurried—just enough for her to keep up.

Sunlight refracted through the dome into colorful specks, lightly falling on Mu Youyu's hair tips.

She turned her head to look at the boy beside her; his profile in the light and shadow appeared especially gentle.

Mo Song saw this, her eyes brightening.

Just as the campus group had said!

Mu Youyu truly is a childhood sweetheart with Young Master Jiang!

Suddenly she became excited.

Mo Song gripped the folded parasol, her steps unconsciously slowing half a beat, falling behind the two.

Mu Youyu didn't notice anything odd, seeing Xia Chao Yi taking a photo of Bai Yun in a white little dress, she moved closer to Jiang Liangjin, "Let's take a photo together?"

She only then remembered that she and A Jin hadn't taken a joint photo in a long time.

Jiang Liangjin: "Okay."

She then let go of his hand, walked over to Mo Song behind them, "Song Song! Can you help me and A Jin take a photo?"

Mo Song put his umbrella aside, quickly nodded, "Sure!"

Mu Youyu then handed her his phone, then found a spot where the background wouldn't capture strangers.

Bai Yun happened to peek out from the opposite side of the fountain, seeing this she raised an eyebrow at Xia Chao Yi, causing the boy to chuckle softly.

Mu Youyu naturally didn't notice the small movement behind her; she took Jiang Liangjin's hand and walked to the fountain, "Let's stand here, the background looks nice."

Jiang Liangjin lowered his gaze to look at her, his voice soft: "Whatever you say."

Mu Youyu naturally leaned toward Jiang Liangjin; the boy, in tacit understanding, turned slightly, his arm slightly bent, loosely shielding her back, blocking the mist kicked up by the fountain behind them.

When he looked at the girl beside him, his originally cold and indifferent eyebrows and eyes unconsciously curved.

Mo Song's hand almost trembled; he stared at the screen, his fingertip hovering for a few seconds before pressing the shutter, "Older sister Yu, done!"

Mu Youyu hurried over.
