Chapter 49
Luka stepped off the flying ship and looked sharply toward the distance.
His mental power reached out quite far, and he clearly noticed three unfamiliar males appearing near his home. He called over the beastman on duty to ask about the situation, and the latter provided a detailed report.
"Next time this happens, don't wait for me to return; report it immediately."
"Yes."
He strode away with his long legs. After entering the door, he saw a petite back busy in the kitchen and couldn't help but curl his lips; his originally cold and stern expression softened.
"Let me do it."
Luka walked over and stood behind her, his tall stature forming a stark contrast with her size. He reached around from behind her to touch her belly, leaned down, and whispered, "I came back late today. Are you starving?"
In truth, he hadn't finished his work at all, but as soon as he checked the time, he rushed back. Because there was someone at home waiting for him—this feeling was unprecedented.
Qiao Suisui looked up and met the man's gentle eyes.
"No, I wanted to cook a meal to eat with you, but I just couldn't get it right."
Luka chuckled, feeling satisfied just hearing her say that.
The two ate and chatted happily, and then Luka moved the packages under Qiao Suisui's direction. Efficiency was just different when a man was around; the two of them finished setting up the remaining three rooms in no time, with Qiao Suisui only needing to give instructions.
Since each optical computer could only create one Nebula account, Qiao Suisui didn't want to use her old Nebula account that many people followed, as that would be almost equivalent to telling those people her address and might bring trouble upon herself, so she asked for Luka's Nebula account.
Entering the homepage, sure enough, this man had never posted anything.
She uploaded the photos of each room to this account's post, set the location, marked the price for each room, and left her own contact information. After getting everything done, she logged out full of anticipation, not knowing when her first tenant would arrive. As her finger swiped, she saw that Luka, who had 0 followers and 0 posts on his homepage, actually had one follow.
She curiously clicked on it and saw a familiar ID: Eyes Wide Like Copper Bells.
"Is everything done?"
Her gaze lifted from the optical computer to the man who had just come out of the bathroom after a shower; at this moment, he was only wrapped in a bath towel around his lower body.
His hair was all hanging down, not combed back meticulously as usual, but wet and half-covering his forehead, even partially blocking those light-colored pupils, giving him a different kind of charm than usual. His muscle lines were very tense, and a drop of water slid from his shoulder to his abdomen, finally disappearing into the bath towel, which was somewhat thought-provoking.
Qiao Suisui shyly looked away, not quite remembering what he had just said.
The temperature in the room rose abruptly, while outside the small building, it was cold and somewhat desolate.
"Sang Yan, stop looking."
A Yao helped up Gaimailun, who had already woken up, walked a distance away, and turned back to call him.
Gaimailun's face was pale, but his condition was visibly much better than in the afternoon. He looked puzzled at Sang Yan's back and asked, "What is he looking at?"
A Yao said, "A brother. The one who took out the medical kit to save you."
Gaimailun said, "Then shouldn't we go and thank him?"
A Yao remembered the little female with the big belly from the daytime, looked at the sky, and said, "It's not very convenient."
Gaimailun didn't understand, thinking to himself what could be inconvenient about that, when he heard Sang Yan's faint voice from ahead—
"A Yao, how many mates do you think she might have?"
Sang Yan stood under a tree, staring fixedly at the two-story room glowing with warm, soft light.
A Yao scratched the back of his head and said, "For a fertile female, her mates should be among the best males in the entire Federation. Even if this male is a great fighter, it's highly likely he can't possess her alone. Even if her mate is a bit overbearing, at the very least there would be ten or more."
"Ten..." Sang Yan muttered to himself: "What kind of males would she like..."
Gaimailun looked at A Yao and then at Sang Yan, his face twisting like a rattle-drum. "No, can someone tell me, what female? Can we please do the right thing first and say goodbye to my savior?"
When Sang Yan heard that he wanted to see Qiao Suisui, his footsteps moved; he walked over, patted A Yao on the shoulder, and said, "Let's go. There's still a mission."
The three of them gradually disappeared at the border of Aosilan.
The next few days were very peaceful. Qiao Suisui waited and waited, but not a single guest came. Not to mention anyone contacting her through Nebula, even the beastmen who usually passed by here were driven away to five kilometers away by Luka's subordinates; of course, Qiao Suisui didn't know about this.
Just like that, she waited for another three days. She had already begun to suspect that there was a problem with her thinking and plan, when a guest finally came to the door.
"It's you?"
Qiao Suisui looked at the man in front of the door. He had flamboyant red short hair and a handsome face, but the silver eyebrow piercing at the tail of his brow broke the sense of youthfulness about him, making him look unruly and wild.
Ka'er was chewing gum, his face showing some impatience.
"Is this your attitude toward your savior?"
Qiao Suisui pursed her lips and stepped aside to invite him in.
Ka'er carried a sports bag in one hand, the other hand casually stuck in his pants pocket, looking around.
"Not bad, it's a world of difference from the last time I came."
"Are you here to find Luka? He won't be back until later."
Ka'er leaned against the back of the sofa and jumped, sitting down. His sturdy and powerful arms rested on the back of the sofa, his two long legs crossed and dangling on the armrest, his whole person looking lazy and rogue-like.
"Why would I look for him? Is this place for rent?"
Qiao Suisui was startled, nodded, and said, "It's currently just a trial run, so it's only for short-term rent."
Ka'er raised his chin, gestured toward the direction of Room 1, and said, "I'll take it." He used his optical computer to transfer 1500 Star Coins directly to Qiao Suisui.
"I'm only staying for three days."
"Alright, okay."
She hadn't expected the first guest to be so smooth, becoming a tenant without her even needing to introduce much; she hadn't quite reacted yet.
"Then if you need anything, you can tell me. Because it's just been prepared, it might not be very well-equipped."
Ka'er raised an eyebrow, "I can tell, it's indeed crude."
He pointed to the bed in Room 1 and said, "At least give me a quilt, little boss."
Qiao Suisui felt a bit embarrassed, her face slightly red, and she whispered that she would prepare it right away.
Ka'er watched her figure hurrying upstairs, his originally improper, bad-boy smile gradually fading, his gaze becoming somewhat probing.
When Qiao Suisui came downstairs holding the quilt, Ka'er was no longer in the living room. She called out a few times, thinking he had gone out, and knocked on the door of Room 1. Hearing no answer, she naturally opened the door to put the quilt inside.
But as soon as she pushed the door open, her feet were nailed to the spot.
She saw Ka'er with his upper body bare, a towel bitten in his mouth, his thick brows furrowed, and his head covered in sweat. At this moment, he was extracting a bullet from the wound on his lower back.
