Chapter 12: Courier and Driver (Request Follow Reading)
In the Tunshixingkong world, the Virtual Universe Corporation’s universal headquarters.
After Lu Qingshan uploaded novels like The Legend of the Immortal Cultivator to the chat group, the breakthroughs of other nearby elites had already been completed.
Long before their breakthroughs, the Black Peak King had already sent them off the starship.
After their breakthroughs were complete, the Black Peak King and others reappeared before them.
“You lot who haven’t broken through yet!”
The Black Peak King’s gaze fell on the cultivators still stuck at the Peak Boundary Lord stage: “You’ll follow these few individuals—they’ll arrange everything for you!”
No sooner had the Black Peak King finished speaking than one immortal deity stepped forward from behind each of the five kings.
“Those joining the Virtual Universe Corporation, follow me!” the immortal behind the Black Peak King said quickly.
“Those joining the Cosmic Mercenary Alliance, follow me!”
“Those joining the Cosmic Star Bank…”
…
Under the leadership of these five immortal deities, the Boundary Lord cultivators who hadn’t broken through soon departed.
“Congratulations!”
After all the Boundary Lord cultivators had left, the Black Peak King continued: “You’ve broken through to become immortal deities—you now possess eternal life!”
“However, since you’ve all already joined the core ranks of our five major factions, you must now carry out the tasks assigned to you by the five factions!”
“Of course, completing these tasks will earn you numerous rewards!”
Saying this, the Black Peak King waved his hand: “Alright, those who joined the Virtual Universe Corporation, follow me!”
“Those who joined the Giant Axe Combat Arena, follow me…”
…
As soon as the five king-immortals finished speaking, Lu Qingshan and the others immediately moved.
Though they had just broken through to become immortals, they knew full well that compared to the king-immortals before them—or even the five supreme factions of humanity—they were still mere novices, so they naturally accepted the five factions’ arrangements without protest.
Soon, Lu Qingshan and the others who joined the Virtual Universe Corporation followed the Black Peak King into a spacious hall.
“Excellent!”
The Black Peak King looked at Lu Qingshan and the others and smiled: “Choosing to join the Virtual Universe Corporation is undoubtedly the wisest decision you’ve made!”
“Our corporation offers the best benefits among the five factions—you’ll have access to rare treasures and secret techniques normally impossible to obtain, and all of these can be exchanged for sufficient credits!”
“To earn credits, you must complete assigned tasks!”
“Enough about that for now!”
The Black Peak King then said: “Now, I’ll assign your tasks.”
“Kalistha!”
The Black Peak King’s gaze turned to a stunningly beautiful girl in the crowd: “You’ll remain aboard my starship, responsible for guiding cultivators to the Initial Universe!”
“Yes, Grandmaster!” The beautiful girl Kalistha replied promptly.
“Hmm!”
The Black Peak King nodded slightly, then turned to two young men with nearly identical faces and smiled: “Robeson, Robert—you two brothers are assigned to the Initial Universe to handle its reception duties. You’ll return with me to the Initial Universe shortly.”
“Yes, Black Peak King!” The Robeson brothers said in unison, a hint of delight crossing their faces.
The reason they were assigned such a valuable task was that their ancestral patriarch was one of the greatest beings in the Virtual Universe Corporation’s lineage—the great Lord Youhou!
Yet previously, their talents were ordinary; though they enjoyed some family resources, they were utterly insignificant within their own clan.
Fortunately, they had bet correctly—they used their family’s connections to secure entry into the Initial Universe for cultivation, and now they had successfully become immortal deities, instantly elevating their status within the clan!
After all, their entire clan, besides Lord Youhou, had only one Cosmic Sovereign, two king-immortals, thirteen marquis-immortals, and over three hundred ordinary immortals!
Now that they were assigned to the Initial Universe, their future potential for strengthening and accumulating wealth would far surpass anyone else’s!
The Black Peak King continued assigning tasks.
“Crist, Kaledo… you thirty are assigned to the Flowing Light Branch. Follow Prolos after this!”
…
“Tory, Krimo… Lu Qingshan, you seventeen are assigned to the Transportation Division. Follow Warren after this!”
No sooner had the Black Peak King finished speaking than a handsome young man with a vertical eye on his forehead stepped forward from behind him and gestured for Lu Qingshan and the others to follow him aside.
…
In a short while, the Black Peak King had finished assigning tasks to all who joined the Virtual Universe Corporation, then departed aboard his starship with Kalistha and the Robeson brothers.
Warren and the other immortal deities leading the teams exchanged greetings, then prepared to lead their groups away.
Thus, Lu Qingshan and the other seventeen immortals assigned to the Transportation Division were soon led by the handsome youth Warren to a starship docking port.
“All you immortals!”
The handsome youth pointed to the numerous starships in the docking port and smiled: “Joining our Transportation Division is a tremendous opportunity for you!”
“See these? These are priceless F-class starships—even as immortals, you might spend billions of years without accumulating enough wealth to purchase one!”
“But now that you’ve joined our division, you’ll immediately be assigned an F-class starship!”
“Of course, the starship assigned to you grants only usage rights—you must follow company regulations to transport resources across the cosmos and ferry our human race’s prodigies!”
“Now, I’ll assign your personal vessels.”
Warren’s gaze first fell on Lu Qingshan, then smiled: “Lu Qingshan, your vessel is the ‘Blood Red No. 3,’ forged from Crimson Chaos Copper Mother!”
Lu Qingshan turned his head and immediately saw a triangular starship entirely crimson in color.
“Tory, your vessel…” Warren continued assigning ships to the others.
In a short while, Warren had assigned each of Lu Qingshan’s group their respective starships.
“Alright, everything you need to know has been sent to you via the Virtual Universe—review it on your own later!”
Warren waved his hand and added: “Now, connect your consciousness to the Virtual Universe and teleport directly to Thunder Island. I’ll guide you in building your future residences within the Virtual Universe.”
“Yes!” Lu Qingshan and the others nodded, then split off a thread of consciousness to connect to the Virtual Universe.
…
After becoming an immortal deity, Lu Qingshan’s permissions within the Virtual Universe Corporation immediately increased, and his auxiliary AI, Deep Blue, gained a new function.
That function allowed him, upon entering the Virtual Universe, to teleport directly to a special realm called “Thunder Island.”
Virtual Universe Corporation headquarters realm: Thunder Island.
Thunder Island was where all members of the Virtual Universe Corporation above the immortal level resided. Its area was immense, perpetually shrouded in mist, with lightning serpents circling its perimeter.
On Thunder Island stood countless palaces, each representing one immortal deity within the Virtual Universe Corporation.
At the island’s center rose a magnificent mountain range, where more luxurious palaces were built halfway up its slopes.
These housed the true high-ups of the Virtual Universe Corporation—the Cosmic Sovereigns.
At the mountain’s peak stood only a few faintly visible palaces—these belonged to the Cosmic Lords; even some powerful Cosmic Tyrants were granted residence here.
In a common area of Thunder Island, a figure suddenly appeared—it was Lu Qingshan, teleported in.
Soon, Krimo and the others who joined the Transportation Division also appeared there.
“Master!” A voice familiar to Lu Qingshan rang out.
Everyone turned to see Warren approaching with another short-haired young man—the voice that had sounded so familiar to Lu Qingshan came from the short-haired youth.
“Hoges!” Lu Qingshan’s face immediately broke into a smile.
The short-haired youth was his sixth disciple, Hoges, who had long since joined the Virtual Universe Corporation and become an immortal deity.
“Hoges!”
The handsome youth Warren smiled: “I still need to brief the others on important matters—I’m leaving your master to you. You’ll handle his orientation.”
“No problem!”
Hoges grinned: “I’ll take care of Master’s matters! Warren, thanks for this—I’ll treat you to drinks once I’m free!”
