Chapter 63: Alvis

~8 min read 1,581 words

The Virtual Universe, the Tongtian Bridge dimension space.

Lu Qingshan’s figure suddenly appeared on the central island.

The opportunities to contemplate the Chaos Stele he had earned by clearing the eleventh and twelfth levels of the Thunder Tongtian Bridge had all been used up over the past two thousand years; now, if he wished to contemplate the Thunder Chaos Stele again, he naturally had to keep pushing forward on the Thunder Tongtian Bridge!

Fortunately, Lu Qingshan’s strength had indeed improved greatly during this time—clearing the thirteenth level of the Thunder Tongtian Bridge was certainly no problem.

But after Lu Qingshan appeared in the Tongtian Bridge dimension, he glanced around and found far more people present than usual.

“What’s this?” Lu Qingshan stared in surprise at the surroundings, even spotting the figures of several King-level Immortals.

“Is my Master here too?”

Seeing Lei Huanwang among them, Lu Qingshan had intended to go greet him, but Lei Huanwang was currently conversing with other King-level Immortals, so he abandoned the idea.

His gaze continued scanning the crowd, and Lu Qingshan soon spotted several familiar figures, then quickly approached them.

“It’s Lu Qingshan!”

“Hah! Lu Qingshan, you’re here too!”

Most of these individuals were Immortal Warlords; Lu Qingshan got along well enough with them.

“Kerimo!”

Lu Qingshan walked over to Kerimo, who had joined the Virtual Universe Company’s Transport Division alongside him, and asked quietly: “What’s going on today? Why are so many people gathered here?”

“This…”

Kerimo glanced at Lu Qingshan, then said with surprise: “Brother Qingshan, aren’t you currently cultivating inside the Chaos City? Haven’t you heard anything?”

After all, when Lu Qingshan cleared the twelfth level of the Thunder Tongtian Bridge, it had stunned Kerimo for a long time!

But when he went to celebrate with Lu Qingshan, he suddenly discovered that Lu Qingshan had become a disciple of Lei Huanwang of the Thunder Lineage—this shocked him even more!

After all, they had both entered the Chaos City to cultivate at the same time, both became Immortals simultaneously, and both joined the Virtual Universe Company’s Transport Division.

During their time in the Transport Division, they often gathered to chat; after hundreds of thousands of years, they were practically close friends.

Yet suddenly, Lu Qingshan—who had once seemed no different from him in ability or background—had cleared the twelfth level of the Tongtian Bridge and even been taken as a disciple by Lei Huanwang.

It was like two friends with similar skill and background, who worked the same shifts and went out for drinks together…

Then one day, that friend became the company’s top performer and was promoted to department manager!

How could this not seem utterly unbelievable to him?

Still, even after becoming Lei Huanwang’s disciple, Lu Qingshan had always remained warm and friendly toward him, so their relationship had not been significantly affected.

“Heard what?” Lu Qingshan asked, puzzled.

“Of course, the news about Alvis, the champion of the last Cosmic Peak Talent War!”

Kerimo quickly said: “The last Peak Talent War was hosted by our Virtual Universe Company. During the finals, Prince Alvis cleared the third level of the seventh Trial Tower in one go! Because of his appearance, the company’s high command increased the number of Original Secret Realm slots awarded per Talent War from one to two!”

“And you were on leave then, so you wouldn’t know: according to Transport Division protocol, champions like the Talent War winner are usually escorted by High Warlords—but when Alvis was brought to company headquarters, Lord Qingcang himself went personally, fearing possible assassination attempts by alien spies along the way!”

“Fortunately, nothing happened on the journey; Lord Qingcang safely delivered Alvis to headquarters! After entering the Chaos City, Alvis immediately chose the Space Lineage’s Yanshan Chaos Stele—and after just one contemplation, he cleared the fifth level of the Yanshan Tongtian Bridge! Now, a hundred years have passed, and Alvis is about to leave the Chaos City; everyone is speculating whether he can clear the seventh level of the Yanshan Tongtian Bridge!”

“Alvis?” After hearing Kerimo’s explanation, Lu Qingshan paused slightly.

In truth, Lu Qingshan had always paid attention to Talent Wars and elite battles.

Given his current talent and comprehension, becoming a supreme powerhouse at the peak of the cosmos would take an extremely long time.

Humanity’s development was still in its early stages; many powerful figures who rose to fame during Luo Feng’s era had yet to emerge, so Lu Qingshan had hoped to observe Talent Wars closely—if he could establish goodwill with these future elites before they rose, it would surely benefit him in the future.

But in recent years, to maximize his understanding of the Time Primordial Law, he had often shut off his virtual network access while cultivating in the Chaos City, so he naturally could no longer follow Talent Wars and elite battles as closely as before.

Yet he never expected that in less than two thousand years—equivalent to just over six thousand years in the Original Universe—only one or two Talent Wars and elite battles had passed, and humanity had already produced another genius like Alvis!

“Alvis?”

Lu Qingshan pondered inwardly: “Though he didn’t clear the Trial Towers, he cleared the fifth level of the Tongtian Bridge immediately upon entering the Chaos City—his talent is even stronger than Bolan’s in the original timeline. I wonder how far he’ll go?”

“Brother Qingshan!”

At that moment, Kerimo glanced at Lu Qingshan, puzzled: “Since you haven’t heard about Prince Alvis, then why are you here in the Tongtian Bridge dimension…?”

Kerimo had thought of one possibility, but he dared not believe it.

After all, Lu Qingshan had only just cleared the twelfth level of the Tongtian Bridge—how could he possibly be ready to attempt the thirteenth so soon?

But at that moment, Lu Qingshan nodded quickly: “I’ve cultivated inside the Chaos City for nearly two thousand years; my strength has finally improved somewhat. I’ve come here to see if I can clear the thirteenth level of the Thunder Tongtian Bridge!”

“Thirteenth level?” Kerimo blinked, then exclaimed in shock.

His cry immediately drew the attention of nearby Immortal Warlords.

“What thirteenth level?” A wolfman Immortal, clearly of Kerimo’s clan, frowned and asked: “Kerimo, what did you just say about the thirteenth level?”

Kerimo immediately turned to Lu Qingshan, as if silently asking whether he truly had confidence.

Lu Qingshan gave Kerimo a firm nod.

His divine energy had already been restructured to six hundred times the power of a Lord; failing to clear the thirteenth level of the Tongtian Bridge would be a joke!

Seeing Lu Qingshan’s confident gaze, Kerimo immediately exclaimed: “Nothing serious—my friend Lu Qingshan is just attempting to clear the thirteenth level of the Thunder Tongtian Bridge!”

“Lu Qingshan?”

The wolfman Immortal’s gaze turned toward him: “You’re Lu Qingshan, Lei Huanwang’s disciple?”

“Who are you?” Lu Qingshan asked, puzzled.

“I’m Piger,” the wolfman Immortal nodded. “Disciple of Moxin Wang.”

“Moxin Wang?” Lu Qingshan blinked.

When he had cleared the seventeenth island of the Illusion Sea, several King-level Immortals had sent him recruitment messages; one of them was Moxin Wang.

Piger was someone Lu Qingshan had heard of from Kerimo—he had cultivated for only seven million years but already possessed High Warlord-level strength, making him somewhat renowned in the wolfman lineage.

“Lu Qingshan!”

The wolfman Immortal Piger stared at Lu Qingshan: “I heard you only just cleared the twelfth level of the Tongtian Bridge—do you really think you can clear the thirteenth so soon? Want to spar sometime?”

“Piger, whether or not I can clear the thirteenth level of the Tongtian Bridge has nothing to do with you, does it?”

Lu Qingshan looked at the wolfman Immortal Piger, feeling utterly baffled.

But he didn’t know that when Moxin Wang had sent him the recruitment message, Piger had been standing nearby—and it was precisely because Moxin Wang had praised him that Piger had taken notice.

After observing Lu Qingshan and learning of his background, Piger had even grown jealous.

“Everyone, look…”

At that moment, another Immortal called out to the crowd: “Prince Alvis is beginning his challenge! His strength is too great—I’m sure the guardian of the sixth level can’t stop him!”

Hearing this, everyone immediately shifted their attention to Alvis’s challenge.

After all, compared to the incomparable genius with limitless future potential—Alvis—both Lu Qingshan and Piger seemed insignificant.

Only Kerimo still quietly apologized to Lu Qingshan for his earlier blunder.

Lu Qingshan naturally didn’t care about such things.

As everyone’s attention was drawn to Alvis’s challenge, Lu Qingshan quickly walked up to the guardian, Bafen.

“Guardian Bafen!” Lu Qingshan bowed slightly in greeting.

As the guardian of the Tongtian Bridge dimension, Bafen naturally noticed everything occurring within it.

So even though most were fixated on Alvis’s challenge, he continued attending to his duties.

“Kid!”

Seeing Lu Qingshan approach, Guardian Bafen smiled: “I heard you cleared the seventeenth island of the Illusion Sea—that’s truly astonishing! So you’ve come here to attempt the thirteenth level of the Thunder Tongtian Bridge?”

“Yes, Guardian Bafen!” Lu Qingshan nodded promptly.

“The Thunder Tongtian Bridge is unoccupied right now—you can begin your attempt immediately!”

Guardian Bafen smiled: “Kid, good luck!”

“Thank you, Guardian Bafen!”

Lu Qingshan nodded in thanks, then immediately shot forward as a streak of light toward the nearby Thunder Tongtian Bridge.

I’m running a fever today—I’m not sure if I can write the second chapter.

PS: Influenza is spreading widely lately—please take care of your health.
