Chapter 227 - 149: Lorentz Magic Academy 3

~6 min read 1,189 words

Before arriving, Lu Cang never thought this place would be so full of life.

He’d assumed it would be a bunch of Mages cooped up in classrooms, their lives revolving around burying their heads in Magic textbooks.

He never expected it to be so relaxed.

’They’re even playing ball and jogging... And what are those two doing? Cuddling in broad daylight?’

’Are they here to learn Magic or to fall in love?’

’It’s just too lazy. How can they possibly get good at Magic this way? Even someone with my level of Talent has to spend a huge amount of time on Magic every day. How dare they slack off like this?’

Lu Cang couldn’t help but sigh internally.

’Does low Spirituality also mean low self-control?’

’No, or perhaps they just don’t have their hearts in Magic at all.’

Perhaps it was because he was a Transmigrator from a Magicless World to a world with Magic that he cherished the ability to use it so much.

Or maybe it was the insecurity of being a Transmigrator, or his obsession with becoming the strongest.

All these factors combined meant that Lu Cang spent nearly all his time, every single day, studying and doing anything related to getting stronger.

The time he took to relax was negligible.

Half an hour wasn’t really enough time to see much.

After a quick tour of the campus, the two of them arrived at the Tower of Light.

The contract on the back of his hand lit up.

The Restriction on the tower briefly opened, and the two entered.

The Tower of Light was the place for learning Light Magic.

He sent out his Perception and could feel that the instructors had already arrived in many of the classrooms.

Lu Cang followed Iz’s lead to his assigned classroom.

Iz sat down in a corner at the very edge of the classroom. Shadows cloaked his face, and no one noticed his presence.

Lu Cang, however, walked slowly to the lecturer’s podium.

’This podium... isn’t it a bit too high?’

’Standing behind it, only my head would show.’

’That doesn’t seem right.’

Lu Cang thought for a moment. Between chopping off a section of the podium and simply floating, he chose to float.

As Lu Cang stood at the podium, whispers inevitably rose from below.

"Who is he?"

"A kid? But why is he wearing a lecturer’s uniform?"

"A specially-appointed High Level lecturer?"

"Hey... isn’t this a specialized course? Where’s Professor Pimino?"

"I only came to this class for his lecture!"

"Hey, isn’t this a paid specialized course? This isn’t what I paid for!"

Lu Cang’s gaze shifted to Iz.

’Iz, you never mentioned this class was a paid one. Didn’t you say everything was taken care of?’

He let out an internal sigh.

’Whatever.’

Lu Cang opened his mouth, and his voice boomed across the room.

He said, "Everyone."

"Today’s lecture on the Daylight Technique will be conducted by me, in place of Professor Pimino."

As soon as he finished speaking, another voice piped up from the audience.

"And who are you, little boy?"

A white-haired man with glasses sitting in the front row made a shooing motion. "The theory of Magic isn’t child’s play. Kid, I don’t know where you borrowed those clothes from, but you should go on home."

Lu Cang’s tone was calm. "But since this is our first meeting, allow me to introduce myself. I am the Chief Mage of the Lorren Kingdom, Lu Cang."

"For certain reasons, I am serving as a specially-appointed lecturer at Lorentz Academy."

"Starting today, we are all in a teacher-student relationship."

"Chief Mage?"

The white-haired man in the audience laughed so hard he slammed the table. "Haha, if you’re the Chief Mage, then I must be the King!"

"Haha, why... why is there a comedy show today?"

Hearing the white-haired man’s laughter, a few soft snickers spread through the classroom.

"Buddy, you think it’s hilarious too, right!" the white-haired man said, grabbing his deskmate and speaking loudly.

However, he saw that his deskmate’s face was stiff as a board.

There wasn’t a hint of a smile.

In fact, it was more of a grim expression of fearful shock.

Seeing his deskmate’s reaction, the smile on the white-haired man’s face froze. "Hey... you didn’t actually fall for this kid’s bluff, did you?"

But his deskmate, his face dark, pulled his hand off his clothes and replied, "Just stop talking."

The white-haired man suddenly felt that the atmosphere was off. The entire classroom had gone quiet.

The sounds in his ears—the mocking laughter, the doubt—had all gradually vanished.

In their place was a mixture of confusion and shock.

"Is it for real?"

"Is it really him?"

"I heard the King held a banquet the day before yesterday. The guest of honor was an eight-year-old kid. Chief Mage Jie Zhu stepped down just to let him take the position. His name seems to be Lu Cang."

"Huh? That was actually true?"

Lu Cang looked at the white-haired man who had just been laughing the hardest.

He couldn’t help but feel a little emotional.

’I’ve finally met someone who mocks me... Even though I’m a child, everyone I’ve met on this journey has treated me with the utmost seriousness.’

’I never got to experience the trope of being looked down on as a weakling.’

’Now that I’m here, I’ve finally gotten a small taste of it during my introduction.’

’However...’

’Aren’t these people a little too well-informed?’

’How did they believe it so quickly? Did the news of me becoming Chief Mage spread that fast? Is it common knowledge already?’

’I actually thought more people would be suspicious.’

’Sigh, I had originally expected everyone to disbelieve me so I could use my title to put them in their place.’

’Looks like that’s not going to happen now.’

Lu Cang turned to look at the white-haired man and could tell he was already intimidated.

’But since you were the loudest, I might as well make an example of you.’

Lu Cang met his gaze. "You, the white-haired student. You don’t believe my identity, is that right?"

The white-haired man, who had been shouting just moments ago, was now in a difficult position.

But hearing the hushed discussions around him, he felt a little unnerved.

Stared at by Lu Cang’s calm, deep eyes, he found himself panicking under the gaze of a mere child.

"Well..."

Lu Cang didn’t give him a chance to refuse, saying directly, "Since you don’t believe me."

"Then attack me with your best Magic. If you can harm me, I will transfer the position of Chief Mage to you. And this bag of one hundred thousand Gold Coins will also be yours."

Lu Cang tossed over a bag of Gold Coins. The white-haired man weighed it in his hand.

’One hundred thousand?’

The white-haired man gulped, and greed instantly flooded his mind.

Nothing was more tempting than one hundred thousand Gold Coins. Regardless of whether his claim to be the Chief Mage was true, these hundred thousand Gold Coins were definitely real.

"You’re the one who said it!"
