Chapter 615: Doctor Octopus Joins, Peter Parker Gets Bitten
In a coffee shop across from Columbia University, Su Quan sat by the window, drinking coffee and watching a group of students gathering at the school gate.
In the crowd, a somewhat dorky boy was secretly looking left and right, seemingly looking for someone. As a result, a handsome guy next to him suddenly greeted him, causing him to hurriedly and flusteredly withdraw his gaze.
These two were Peter Parker and Harry Osborn.
"I heard that the Science Center at Columbia University is hosting a spider exhibition. If you're interested, we can go take a look together after it's over."
Professor Curt Connors, who was beside Su Quan, suggested with a smile.
They were waiting for Dr. Otto Octavius, having agreed to meet at this coffee shop.
Su Quan shook his head and joked: "Two grown men visiting a spider exhibition, don't you think that's a bit perverted?"
Professor Curt Connors laughed dumbly. Just then, Dr. Otto Octavius entered the coffee shop, so he didn't continue the topic.
Dr. Otto Octavius walked over, greeted his good friend first, and then looked at Su Quan.
Professor Curt Connors, the middleman, enthusiastically introduced them to each other.
One of these two was his financial backer, and the other was a good friend he admired and respected. Regardless of which side he stood on, he hoped this meeting would have a result that both parties were satisfied with.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Dr. Otto Octavius, who was not good at or rather didn't like socializing, got straight to the point.
Before coming, he had already learned the conditions the other party offered from his friend. To be honest, he was very tempted. If the other party's conditions could be fulfilled and weren't just a pipe dream, he would agree without hesitation.
"I only have one question. If I agree to join your research team, when will the funding for the nuclear energy project be available? If there is no progress within a period of time, will there be follow-up funding? What is the total investment cap for this project?"
One question?
That's three questions.
Su Quan smiled and answered just as directly: "Immediately, yes, no cap."
In one sentence, he answered all his questions concisely and efficiently.
Dr. Otto Octavius's nuclear energy project was very expensive because the core material of this project was a very, very, very rare elemental metal.
After Harry Osborn took over Osborn Industries, he supported his experiment with all his might, hoping to soar into the sky, but after the experiment failed, he almost lost his reputation.
This experiment was too expensive. Once it failed, it would be a minor injury at best and bankruptcy at worst, so until now, even though the prospects for this project were very broad, no one dared to invest.
Su Quan was the only investor who dared to say he would provide unlimited funding!
Su Quan had money and wasn't afraid of the experiment failing.
Let's put it this way: if the project succeeded, nuclear energy would provide energy continuously and inexhaustibly, like the sun.
If it failed, it would be a powerful destructive energy capable of destroying all of New York.
Su Quan wanted this energy!
Every time the experiment failed, he could devour it once. The more times it failed, the more energy he could devour, and his strength would become stronger.
If it succeeded, even better; he could devour it just the same.
He wouldn't lose either way!
Dr. Otto Octavius looked at his friend, pondering. Su Quan's answer was too straightforward; he couldn't quite believe it.
"Can we talk about the laboratory?" Professor Curt Connors guessed his concerns, thought for a moment, and turned to ask Su Quan for instructions.
"Yes."
Professor Curt Connors breathed a sigh of relief and immediately told his friend about the parallel worlds of the multiverse.
Once he started, he was unstoppable.
Dr. Otto Octavius was stunned at first, but although the theory of parallel worlds in the multiverse hadn't been accepted, some scientists in the academic community still relatively agreed with it, and he didn't think his friend would deceive him about something so easily disproven.
The parallel worlds of the multiverse really existed; this theory was true.
That meant this young man in front of him came from another world, and the conditions he offered were nine times out of ten true!
"Happy cooperation?" Dr. Otto Octavius excitedly reached out his hand to Su Quan.
He decided to join!
Su Quan smiled and shook his hand, then picked up two suitcases from the empty chair beside him and placed them in front of him.
Dr. Otto Octavius was stunned.
"This suitcase..."
"One suitcase contains diamonds worth billions of dollars, which is your project's startup capital. You figure out how to sell them yourself."
"The other suitcase contains a special metal called vibranium. Professor Connors knows what it is; you can use it to make mechanical arms."
After Su Quan finished speaking, he smiled slightly: "You handle the laboratory and related equipment yourself. Except for paying, I won't care about anything else."
"I only have one requirement, and that is to start formal experimental testing as quickly as possible!"
"..."
Dr. Otto Octavius was silent for a long time. This absolute trust made him feel the emotion of "a scholar dies for his confidant."
He guaranteed very solemnly: "I definitely won't let you down!"
"I believe in you."
Su Quan thought to himself, whether it succeeds or fails, I can get what I want, so of course you can't let me down.
The goal was successfully achieved. The impatient Dr. Otto Octavius and Professor Curt Connors left the coffee shop carrying the two suitcases.
Dr. Otto Octavius must have had many questions he wanted to ask him, and he also needed his help to set up the laboratory and turn the diamonds into cash.
After they left, Su Quan didn't leave immediately, but focused his attention on the Science Center of the university opposite.
Science Center, Spider Exhibition Hall.
The students of Midtown High School were visiting under the guidance of their teacher while listening to the explanations and introductions of professionals.
"Ouch..." Peter Parker, who was holding a camera ready to take pictures, suddenly felt a sharp pain in his hand.
Turning his head to look, he found a brightly colored spider had landed on his hand, scaring him into hurriedly waving his hand and throwing the spider away.
A small wound appeared on his hand where he had been bitten, slightly red and swollen.
"Peter... Peter... are you okay?" Harry Osborn patted his friend on the shoulder and joked with a smile: "Why are you so absent-minded today? Is it because she hasn't been to school for several days?"
"No, no, I was just wondering whether to take a few more photos. Harry, let's go look over there, and I'll take a few photos for you while I'm at it." Peter Parker put down his hand and changed the subject in a panic.
Harry Osborn pouted: "Forget it, who would want to take a picture with a spider?"
As he spoke, he pushed Peter Parker and walked forward with the crowd.
Peter Parker looked around the ground a few times; the spider from just now had already disappeared without a trace.
In the old Spider-Man trilogy, besides Luxi, there are actually a few pure extras who are also very pretty. I write about them because they are pretty and I'm aiming to "collect" them, not because I'm stuck or deliberately padding the word count.
However, the reaction to writing about Luxi doesn't seem to be very good, so I won't write about the other pure extras. I'll stick to the main and supporting characters with comic prototypes.

PS: Whenever I write about a certain movie, I usually look up the cast list on Douban to see if there are any pretty ones.
