Chapter 934

The car drove on the pitch-black road; the rain had stopped, and except for the occasional barking of a dog, the whole world seemed silent.

The low atmosphere and exhausted state made the car even quieter; John, blaming himself, didn't speak the whole way, while Clarice leaned on Su Quan, forcing herself to stay awake and look at the unchanging darkness outside the car window.

I don't know how long it had been, but the car slowed down and turned into a courtyard; under the illumination of the headlights, it could vaguely be identified as an abandoned bank building.

"We're here."

Parking and turning off the engine, John said in a low voice, taking them to prepare to enter the building.

On the outer stairs high up on the building, there was a man holding a sniper rifle; he looked a bit like a demon elf from a Western fantasy story, with pale skin covered in stripes and a pair of long ears.

If one didn't have super night vision, it would be hard to discover him, as he had perfectly blended into the surrounding night.

He was a guard for the mutant underground organization and possessed the ability to induce feelings of fear in others.

Anyone who approached the base would develop feelings of fear and discomfort, thereby staying away from here.

The building was brightly lit, and mutants were doing their own things in an orderly manner.

John took them to a corner on the second floor and had people prepare water and blankets.

Su Quan and Clarice sat on the sofa for a while, and then they saw a woman who looked like a manager walk over.

"How are you feeling?"

She sat down at the coffee table in front of them and introduced herself with a smile: "My name is Sage."

"Clarice."

"Su Quan."

Sage said with a smile: "I have a few questions I'd like to ask you."

She first asked Clarice.

"Is Clarice your real name?"

"Yes."

"Is there anyone you need to contact? Like family?"

"No." Clarice shook her head: "My family... it's a long story."

"Alright."
