Chapter 106: I Won't Let Her Go

~8 min read 1,427 words

Youchao Xuan's body trembled slightly, as if Acai had hit a sore spot; his face flushed instantly, yet he didn't forget to lift his eyes and glare at her fiercely.

The sound of wind blowing in rustled the leaves, and also stirred his silver strands to dance in the breeze; he immediately sprang up, straightened his back, and said, "Are you in league with Shiva?"

He saw through it; this female's purpose was solely to benefit Ying, but he hadn't expected that she, after only two days in the Tribe, would collude with Shiva and harm the Goddess.

Acai snorted coldly, a bit disgruntled; she lifted her eyes toward the direction where Ying and the others had gone. That male she liked and adored—why would he not even give her a glance, why was he so concerned about Nan Qinghuan? She had thought she could drive Nan Qinghuan away tonight, but—she lost, all her effort in vain.

Acai is very clever; even when she loses, she won't admit anything.

"Shiva, what? I don't know what nonsense you're spouting. The Goddess sabotaged the Tribe's wedding and stole Herbal Medicine; she deserves punishment."

Slap!

Suddenly, Acai was slapped; irritated, she bared two Wolf Fangs, the sharp, slender teeth looking terrifying in the night.

"You dare hit me?"

Youchao Xuan saw her two Wolf Fangs at the edge of her mouth; he said coldly, "Finally you stop pretending, Wolf Girl. This is your true face. The Goddess rescued you from the Snake Mouth, yet you still harm her. Tonight I will kill you."

"Kill me, let me eat you first."

Then Acai suddenly lunged at him; under the moonlight, Youchao Xuan actually saw... what was that? In the darkness, Acai suddenly transformed into a half-human, half-wolf.

He let out a loud shout and stepped back a few paces, "Are you a Half-beast?"

Acai bared her teeth and lunged at him, smiling smugly, "Scared? Too late."

With those words, she charged at Youchao Xuan like a ferocious beast. Youchao Xuan was no match for her; after several exchanges, he lay on the ground, retreating step by step.

A bloodthirsty glint flashed in Acai's eyes; she licked her mouth corner, "It's been a long time since I tasted fresh blood; tonight I'll try you."

Just as Acai was about to pounce and bite Youchao Xuan to death, a furry, powerful tail swung at her. She stepped back a beat, and then saw... in the darkness a Da Xingsheng suddenly fell from the sky, then leapt to guard Youchao Xuan. Youchao Xuan, seeing it was Jingang, was overjoyed and shouted at him.

"Jingang!"

Jingang reached out, patting his shoulder to signal him not to be afraid; then Jingang let out a strange rumble from his mouth, brandishing his sharp claws as he lunged at Acai.

Its leaps were astonishing; in an instant it enveloped Acai.

Jingang was towering; in Jingang's eyes, Acai was as easy to crush as an ant. Acai, seeing Jingang arrive, was unafraid; a strange smile curled her mouth, then she shrieked and shouted behind her, "Help! Jingang is eating people!"

While shouting, she lured Jingang toward a nearby forest; Jingang let out a roar to the sky, then lifted a leg and chased after Acai. Seeing it follow, Acai ran even more joyfully.

Youchao Xuan knew Ying disliked Jingang; if it dared to eat people, Ying would surely kill it. He immediately pursued Jingang, shouting, "Jingang, come back!"

Jingang, angered by Acai, bared its teeth and snarled, chasing Acai wildly. Suddenly, it seemed to step on something and let out a wail; Youchao Xuan sprinted forward and actually saw... Acai terrified, sitting on the ground sobbing continuously, while a group of tribesmen pointed Long Arrows at the Jingang that had fallen into a pit trap. Jingang's feet were pierced by Long Arrows, its whole body lay in the big pit; it roared fiercely yet could not climb out.

"Shiva, this monster wants to eat me; kill it."

Jingang kept roaring, trying to rise but powerless; Acai smiled triumphantly, then whispered beside Shiva, "Shiva, kill this beast."

Shiva, seeing Jingang so ferocious, said, "Where did this monster come from, tribesmen? Kill this monster."

"Stop. You must not kill Jingang; it is the Goddess's pet, you cannot touch it."

"Goddess?"

Shiva sneered, walked up to Youchao Xuan, looking exceedingly smug, and said, "She can't even protect herself, how could she care for this beast?"

"What are you trying to do?"

Inside the Cave, the Bonfire blazed; Ying gently placed Nan Qinghuan onto the Stone Bed, then pressed his whole body down onto her.

He gnawed at her fair skin, setting her ablaze; he wanted to kill her, yet... he loved her so much, adored every inch of her body, loved her to the extreme; without her he would die.

At the thought of Nan Qinghuan stealing Herbal Medicine, Ying couldn't stay calm; he became ferocious, demanding her, and when she lay unconscious he fetched some water and splashed it onto her face.

The cold sensation instantly woke Nan Qinghuan; she opened her eyes to see a man's head buried before her, venting his discontent and anger. Nan Qinghuan didn't move, only clenched her teeth in pain.

Such torment left her heart weary and her mouth emitting a painful whimper; Ying heard it, then stopped, lifted his gaze to look at her.

Those eyes actually shimmered with crystalline light.

In an instant, Nan Qinghuan felt even more blocked in her heart.

"Awake?"

Ying merely said softly, then resumed his assault; Nan Qinghuan clutched the Beast Skin beneath her, praying for this to end quickly. Though she knew this would be the outcome, at least it succeeded.

She successfully prevented the tragedy of sibling marriage within the Tribe.

While she was lost in thought, Ying suddenly halted his actions, gently reaching to grip her slender neck; his handsome face twisted slightly as he growled into her ear, "Nan Qinghuan, do you even have a heart?"

He asked if she had a heart; he had been so good to her, everything obeyed her, yet she still refused to bear his offspring. She didn't want to give birth to him; then who does she want to bear? Youchao Xuan, Rongdi? Or does she still think of escaping from him? He was originally a very rational person, but after encountering this female, all his reason was driven mad by her.

Nan Qinghuan widened her eyes without struggling, her hands gripping the Beast Skin tightly; she gradually forced out a fragile smile, "I'm not wrong."

Indeed, she wasn't wrong; what was wrong about preventing the Tribe's tragedy? "You're not wrong?"

Ying didn't understand why she was so stubborn; his hand pressed lightly as if truly to choke her, yet he still couldn't bring himself to; his grip was well controlled. His hands had crushed countless prey in sand pots, and had killed tribe members who betrayed him, but... he had never killed a beloved female.

Seeing Nan Qinghuan not struggle, as if awaiting death, his heart filled with even more anguish; he lost all interest and suddenly left her. He stood up, quickly donned the Beast Skin, and turned his back to her.

"Nan Qinghuan, it's because I've been too good to you that you feel the need to meddle in everything. I tell you—"

His voice carried a hint of bleakness and hatred; seeing Nan Qinghuan remain silent, he turned his head, glared at her, "Why won't you speak?"

Nan Qinghuan didn't flinch either; she immediately stood, adjusted her skirt, and faced him eye to eye. She had always believed this man would support her no matter what she did; the journey had been hard, but she hadn't expected... tonight he disappointed her so much.

"Why won't you believe me, Ying? Siblings cannot marry."

"Shut up."

She's still talking about it!

Ying's gaze, once indulgent, changed; he looked at her as if she were prey, cold and merciless.

This Ying made Nan Qinghuan feel very unfamiliar; she had always thought this man would tolerate everything about her, and because he did, she dared to implement reforms in the Tribe, hoping all members could live better lives.

In the end, she was too naive; she hadn't expected that preventing the Tribe's marriage would anger him so much. Soon, she realized.

She had overlooked that arguing about values with the wild people was useless; they came from different worlds, and discussing incestuous marriage with them was like talking chickens to ducks.

"Ying, what do you want to do?"
