Chapter 353: Dandelion Clears Heat and Detoxifies
When he heard Nan Qinghuan's words, Ying also realized she wasn't blaming him for the killing; after he sent everyone back, only the married couple remained here.
The night was a bit cool.
The bonfire blazed, and Nan Qinghuan stood there watching the person being devoured clean, until only a pile of stark white bones remained, which the Wolf Pack then carried away.
It seemed they were still not satisfied and were reluctant to leave, even cleaning up all the fresh blood on the ground.
It was very primitive, wild.
Ying, fearing he might frighten her, hurried to drive the wolves away, then had Nan Qinghuan sit beside the bonfire.
Seeing that she didn't seem very afraid, Ying suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, "Qinghuan, you are truly bold."
Ying recalled their first meeting, when he saw Nan Qinghuan killing a snake with her bare hands; it was her bravery that caught his attention. He wondered how such a petite female could kill a snake unarmed, so he stepped in and together they killed the snake, deciding to bring her back to the tribe.
Nan Qinghuan lifted her gaze to the stark white bones and said, "There's nothing to fear. I'm not here to stop you from killing. I just want to know whether the Masai have any other toxins; have you found out?"
"No. That person is tight‑lipped and tells me nothing, but rest assured I will make the tribe cautious. As soon as we encounter those toxins we'll shoot them dead; I don't believe they can reproduce in the forest."
"That's exactly what worries me most; if these toxins keep reproducing it will be very detrimental to our tribe."
She didn't care whether the man lived or died; the Mase tribe raising these monsters to kill people would be terrifying, but if the man dies she needs to know whether such toxins still exist in the forest.
These primitive peoples all operate here, so we must find a way to eliminate all these toxins; a bite would be hard to treat.
Space may be omnipotent, but her Merit Beans are not abundant; she should conserve them.
Hearing Nan Qinghuan's words, Ying also realized there were complications, "Don't worry, I'll find a way to keep everyone cautious."
After saying that, Ying tried to pull her up, "Alright, Qinghuan, we should go home."
"Ying, have someone search the nearby water source; these things lay eggs that hatch in the water. If there are any, then…"
"In the water?"
The Rongdi Tribe was bustling with activity.
Youchao Xuan and Axi had become the tribe's beloved female doctors; their arrival was a new hope.
After Youchao Xuan and Axi took the tribe members' pulses, the two finally understood the situation.
The Rongdi stood aside, looking left and right, but the two remained silent, which made him extremely agitated.
"I ask, have you figured it out? What kind of toxin is this?"
Youchao Xuan had never seen a Rongdi so anxious; it seemed Ying was right—the Rongdi truly cared for his tribe.
He still admired that point, because he had seen too many chiefs only looking out for themselves.
"Chief, don't worry. They are only mildly poisoned; I can draft a prescription to try."
Hearing this, Li Xiang was even happier, "Youchao Xuan, tell me, which herbs can be combined?"
Li Xiang didn't know how many Herbal Medicines existed in this ancient age, so he wanted to hear what Youchao Xuan had to say.
Youchao Xuan hurried to his feet, "Actually it's not hard. Their limited water intake causes diarrhea and stomach pain. Just use Isatis root, Dandelion, and Wangbu liuxing herb, these three Herbal Medicines, to brew a soup; drinking it will cure them."
These herbs are all available.
The Rongdi Tribe's Medical Woman was not pleased, "How could these herbs be useless?"
Youchao Xuan didn't want to waste words with her; he just smiled, "You'll only know by trying. Chief, you have these herbs here, right?"
The Rongdi looked at the Medical Woman, "Did you ask whether these herbs are available?"
The Medical Woman hadn't expected Nan Qinghuan to have taught two apprentices to compete for credit; she pursed her lips and nodded.
"Yes."
"Then don't delay gathering the herbs. Youchao Xuan, Axi, you two have worked hard; send people to let them rest. At first light tomorrow I'll have someone escort you back."
Axi felt the Rongdi had truly changed a lot; if it were the old days, he wouldn't have acted like this.
"Thank you, Chief."
The poisoning issue was resolved; everyone went to prepare the herbs for decoction, and the Rongdi seemed to sigh in relief.
He glanced at Li Xiang, "I never expected Nan Qinghuan to have such ability. Li Xiang, you junior sister is truly impressive."
In the past the Rongdi thought Nan Qinghuan was different from others, which is why he was attracted to her; now he feels she's even more different.
Although he knew he had little chance with Nan Qinghuan, he still hoped she would be fine.
Li Xiang smiled, "Indeed, Qinghuan's arrival brought many things. Tomorrow I plan to return with them."
"Return together, for what?"
"The Carriage. The Carriage isn't repaired yet; I want to make the two best wheels and send them over."
"Carriage?"
The Rongdi was also eager to see what this Carriage actually was; he chuckled and nodded, "Alright, tomorrow we'll go together and, while we're at it, see whether the Masai have been captured."
Just as those words fell, a lone wolf rushed from not far away, "It's bad."
Hearing "It's bad", Li Xiang and the Rongdi hurried forward, "What's wrong?"
"A tribe member saw the toxin monster appear near us."
Upon hearing this, the Rongdi remained silent for a moment but didn't panic, "Where?"
The morning light was just beginning to break.
Early in the morning Nan Qinghuan woke up to prepare a fire for cooking, but when she went out, A Mu had already finished; breakfast was rice porridge.
It smelled delicious; A Mu's stone pot, the older it gets, the better it stews flavor.
"A Mu"
"Qinghuan, you're awake?"
Nan Qinghuan felt her days were now like a little pig's; she didn't need to till fields or do anything, just eat well, sleep, and eat again.
She never imagined one could enjoy a modern‑like good life even in this primitive age.
But she didn't want to just reap the benefits; she also wanted to do something.
"A Mu, what are you doing?"
She discovered Mother stitching something with a Fishbone Needle; it seemed to be a Hemp Sack, embroidered with a Totem she couldn't read, looking rather mysterious.
Mother smiled, "Did you forget? Tomorrow is Yao's wedding day; we're going to congratulate them. Ying has already sent someone to prepare the wedding gifts, and I thought it best to ready some items to send together."
"Ah."
Nan Qinghuan patted her head; she was really busy and muddled, almost forgetting the matter.
"I almost forgot, Mother, what do you usually give for weddings here?"
She had once stopped Azi from marrying her own older brother, because that affair turned sour; thereafter the tribe stopped holding wedding ceremonies.
Mother laughed, "Usually we give the hunted game we bring back, but we also have food to give, like rice grains. Since ChaoJi is a member of our Tribe, Ying said we should properly give something, to bless her and Yao to live well together."
Nan Qinghuan truly had forgotten the matter; she also needs to prepare something for Yao's grand wedding.
But what could she prepare? Ancient resources are limited, and she doesn't have much to offer.
How about trying space!
She plans to give some tools beneficial to the Tribe's development; the best are farming implements and other daily necessities— even a few farming tools would make them very happy.
"Got it."
