Chapter 466: The Small Town Sets Laws and Rules
Under the Bonfire, Aurora, drunk and dazed, actually saw Rongdi; she recalled the words Nan Qinghuan and Li Xiang had told her and felt embarrassed, "What are you doing, why didn't Ying say I was drunk, and you start nosing in?"
Rongdi had never seen a woman who wouldn't take advice; he felt a burning fire in his chest and was uncomfortable. He had never been rebuked by any woman other than Nan Qinghuan.
That's really unpleasant!
"You're already drunk, what are you still drinking, what does a woman look like?"
Aurora glanced at Rongdi, tried to stand, but felt dizzy; Rongdi grabbed her, "Be careful, I'll take you back to rest."
"Let go of me, let go."
"Hey, Beastman, let go of our leader, let go."
The little mouth, seeing Aurora being taken away, felt nervous, but Rongdi ignored her and then scooped Aurora up, "She'll stay at my place tonight."
"Hey, Rongdi, you can't do this, you…"
Dazui Ba, worried that Rongdi might bully the leader, hurriedly ran to file a complaint with Ying, "Ying, that cannibalistic Beastman grabbed our leader; go stop him."
Hearing this, Ying, who was drinking with Yao, glanced at Rongdi taking Aurora away. He also knew Rongdi and Aurora were courting; Beastmen's love is fierce and straightforward, and the Ancient People are all similarly direct. He recalled the time he met Nan Qinghuan, when he simply snatched her and knocked her out.
"Are you Dazui Ba?"
Dazui Ba didn't know why Ying was laughing, wondering if they had come by mistake. "Yes, leader, I am Dazui Ba."
"There is no leader here, only the Small Town's Town Mayor. Don't worry, Rongdi won't do anything to your leader; he just likes her."
"What, likes the leader?"
"Dazui Ba, stop worrying; Rongdi likes your leader, which is a good thing. Your leader has already taken a few men, why are you still afraid she'll be at a loss?"
Nan Qinghuan also stood up, smiling, and Dazui Ba's words indeed made sense; their leader had taken three men, all of whom served her unhappily, so she killed and stewed them, and the leader wasn't easy to provoke.
Exactly!
"But Rongdi…"
"Don't worry, maybe Rongdi will become Aurora's man."
Meanwhile, the Bonfire party continued; Rongdi carried Aurora to his own dwelling, a room that Ying had arranged for him. Their house was already slated for construction, but it would take time, so they stayed there temporarily.
Soon, he placed Aurora on the bed; this time, Rongdi didn't want to say anything, just stared at the drunken Aurora and uttered an unprecedented line.
"Thirsty? I'll pour you some water."
Aurora, now wanting water, didn't hold back, "Water, give me water."
Hearing she wanted water, Rongdi fetched a wooden ladle, scooped some clean water, and Aurora gulped it all down quickly.
The two sat close; in the candlelight, Aurora's face looked very pretty, and this sight made Rongdi's expression turn somewhat grim.
He saw Aurora's shapely chest, something that could drive a man crazy, and he still liked it.
He licked his lips; Aurora, having drunk too much, saw double, "Hehe, Rongdi, I saved you today, don't bully me, understand? I'm going to sleep now, you go guard the door, go…"
In truth, Aurora understood what the Beastman might intend; she was a bit scared and didn't want any involvement, but she couldn't show her fear, lest the man bully her.
She pretended to be fierce, making Rongdi burst out laughing; he had never seen a woman so bold, daring to have a full‑blown general guard the door.
But then, he unusually stepped forward to cover her with a blanket, a move that frightened Aurora, who curled her bare legs, "What are you doing?"
Seeing Aurora so frightened, Rongdi only sneered, "It's chilly at night, put the blanket on; I've left the water beside you, drink when you're thirsty."
Under the candlelight, Rongdi's face flickered; this was Aurora's first time looking at him so up close. She had once found him annoying, but now she thought he was still a manly fellow, at least he didn't force her to do anything. Seeing Aurora silent, Rongdi tugged at his mouth, "I'm going out to guard the door."
Leaving that remark, he grabbed a nearby Beast Skin, draped it over himself, and went out. As the door was about to close, Aurora suddenly said coldly,
"Stop."
Rongdi was startled, turned his head, lowered his gaze, and met her eyes, "What else do you want to do?"
At the fourth watch, the Bonfire party was fading; Ying had Youchao Xuan take Dazui Ba and the others to stay. They would leave tomorrow. He still agreed with Nan Qinghuan's notion of peaceful coexistence, even though he knew Aurora wasn't sincere about peace now; however, by this autumn, everything would change.
By then, wiping out the Giant Tribe would be easy.
The night breeze blew gently over the wreckage here; after a feast it was messy and unattended, so Nan Qinghuan recruited a few women to clean up, and it was already late when they finished.
"Qinghuan, go rest?"
Tonight Ying still couldn't rest, because he was waiting for news from Dashan and his group; he had sent them to eliminate the Lasi Tribe and had to wait for their return.
Nan Qinghuan was sleepy, her belly large, she yawned, "Aren't you sleeping?"
Under the moonlight, Ying's face was somewhat dark, and he was exhausted from preparing the Army.
Ying shook his head, about to speak, when Ji Lei's voice came from behind.
"Ying, something's wrong."
Hearing that, Ying remained calm.
"What's the matter?"
Ji Lei sounded flustered, "A household got into a fight over a woman."
"What, fighting over a woman at this hour, they're not sleeping at three watches?"
Hearing this, Nan Qinghuan realized the worrisome event had occurred; she had intended to rest but felt the matter needed resolving.
Although the Small Town had been established, the legality of marriage was still unformalized. This wasn't the first time she heard such a thing; previously the tribes lived mixed, so one man with several women was normal, but now, with more people, many changed their mate‑selection standards, disliking their former partners, leading to jealousy, fights—women fighting women, men likewise.
Ancient men and women were very liberal; this issue must be settled by establishing clear laws!
Realizing this, she hurried, "Ying, let's go see what's really happening."
