Volume Four ends; Kele kneels, begging for a wave of monthly votes~

Month's end—begging for a wave of monthly votes (purely for the sake of it, hehehe~)

Then, as usual, let's chat about the plot—I'm used to placing this kind of self-reflection at the start of the next volume, just so it won't break readers' immersion in the story.

Strictly speaking, this is the end of Volume Three, because Qidian separates free chapters from VIP chapters, so Volume One should have ended at Konggang; but for convenience, we'll call it Volume Four instead.

The Shuguang City arc is now fully concluded; I gave Xilan City a 65 in the previous volume, and I'll give this one a Mianqiang 70.

It's not that I think I wrote better—I simply made fewer stupid mistakes than before.

But the reason both volumes scored low is simple: Kele wanted to show too much, yet could only write so much.

This is purely a matter of writing skill—no excuses.

Kele is someone who loves grand narratives and is passionate about themes like The Three-Body Problem, Pacific Rim, Evangelion, The Wandering Earth, zombie films, and post-apocalyptic survival; I also hold a fervent reverence for Longguo and its military, so I unapologetically pay homage to certain plots and characters.

But the problem is—I want to write too much…

Honestly, many readers have already noticed this.

Xilan City was twice the size of Konggang, and Shuguang City was three to four times larger than Xilan City; such a massive war cannot be reduced to simple military maneuvers and endless explosions—it demands intense emotional buildup, and both word count and preparation must double.

In this regard, I didn't do well, but I truly gave my all—my current ability simply can't exceed this scale.

Because Shuguang City required too much scale to portray, the middle stretch—over twenty chapters, nearly a month—was pure setup between the minor climax (Xingyuan's Chuanyue ) and the major climax (the defense of Shuguang City), and it was painfully dull; subscriptions dropped by half.
