Chapter 439
BOOM!
Amid a violent collision, the collapsed Haiyan West station spewed forth a black heavy train, while three 1130s and three G3 electromagnetic railguns mounted on its roof fired simultaneously, crushing and blasting apart the surrounding Red Bones and other anomalies, then surged violently into the city's rail network toward the downtown core.
Having left the main track, the Infinite regained its rail-borne drive system; the thousand-ton train rumbled over the rails, sparks flying from its steel wheels, the metal humming loudly, while overhead, Shasha piloted the Flying Peach, blasting through the sky, flames erupting along the tracks, smoke thickening everywhere.
The blast door of car 5 opened; Dali, Lu Chang, Shu Qin, and Luo Yang, clad in powered armor, unleashed full firepower at the anomalies chasing along both sides of the railway, while Long Zhijie hovered above the train's roof, suppressing all monsters obstructing its advance with powerful telekinetic waves.
17: 3
"Less than fifty minutes left; our current marker is persistent and cannot be fully cleared."
In the cockpit, Chen Sixuan watched the battle outside the viewport, her expression grave as she spoke over the comm: "Before we enter underground, we need a full-scale cleanup!"
"By the way, can we use Silver Dragon Ten Thousand Errors?" came Qian Dele's voice.
Before he finished speaking, Ding Junyi, working in car 3, replied immediately: "No, the new bud hasn't formed yet."
"Then what do we do? These monsters… they're not many, but they feel endless." Shasha, piloting the mech bomber, watched anomalies continuously emerging from streets and buildings all around, her voice tense.
"We can use the method we used on the snow plains."
Chen Sixuan spoke over the channel: "I checked—just before University City Station, there's a freight and subway interchange platform. We can stop there and seize the chance to eliminate them all at once."
SHHH!
At the back of the train, Mo Nika held the rear line, her howling sword slashing down several anomalies; their green bio-fields flickered incessantly, resisting even electromagnetic railgun rounds—multiple volleys were required to kill them. Mo Nika said:
"These aren't snow wraiths. If their numbers grow, we won't have time to clear them quickly."
"Exactly—these things' defenses are insane. Even heavy machine guns can't pierce them…" Lu Chang stared in disbelief.
Shu Qin and Dali concentrated fire on a Split-Tail Human; a high-explosive round blasted it upward, its defensive field flickering erratically. Shu Qin seized the moment and fired a single pulse heavy cannon shot—obliterating the monster's upper body, its flesh splattering across the nearby building.
"Their bio-fields have limits—continuous attacks overload them, or higher energy density can break through." Shu Qin immediately told Xiao Yuan and Miao Lu, operating the train's weapon station in car 2: "Adjust firing patterns—focus all onboard weapons on one target until destroyed, then switch!"
"Got it!" Xiao Yuan adjusted immediately; Miao Lu helped coordinate, then said: "Why hasn't Viola returned? Her signal link is completely cut off."
"Lin's team sent Viola ahead along the rail chain to scout. Judging by this, she won't make it back before dark." Xiao Yuan replied.
SWISH!
As Shu Qin and Dali eliminated a Split-Tail Human, a high-speed figure streaked past—Sun Yuzhen, clad in a flight armor suit specially designed by Lin Xian, equipped with wings and missile launchers, landed on a wall, extending six spider-like mechanical arms to anchor herself, then retrieved a vial of flesh before darting away again before the anomalies could pounce.
"What's she doing?!"
In car 7, Qian Dele kicked open the door and blasted a Red Bone away, then curiously asked as Sun Yuzhen flew back:
"Director Ding needs it—he wants to study this bio-field." Sun Yuzhen tucked away her wings and sprinted swiftly toward car 3.
Qian Dele shrugged: "Fine. Hopefully we can equip the whole train with this kind of defense field—it's better than steel armor."
"There are at least forty to fifty of these daylight anomalies with bio-fields outside. At this rate of increase, if we stop, we'll have at most two minutes to act." Shasha, flying above, ran simulations on her mech's computer: "And in our direction, the numbers seem to be growing—maybe we won't even get two minutes."
"One minute is enough!"
BAM!
A blinding sniper beam exploded—Infinite's cockpit door opened; Chen Sixuan, wielding the Night Hunter taller than herself, fired a plasma confinement round that pierced through both a Split-Tail Human and a Red Bone, carving grotesque, basin-sized wounds into their bodies. WOO! Chen Sixuan's face was icy as she pressed the Night Hunter's energy rewind button, then said into her headset:
"Long Zhijie."
"At your command!" Long Zhijie's voice was hoarse with respect.
"When we reach the loading station, there's a warehouse area to the north. I need you to use your ability to gather all visible monsters into one zone—keep the area under ten meters. Can you do it?"
Long Zhijie paused for a second, then replied immediately: "If it's just gathering them together, yes."
"Good."
Chen Sixuan continued: "Everyone, concentrate on the right side of the train. Once Long Zhijie completes the control, we'll unleash concentrated fire. Shasha, Xiao Yuan—prepare the Flying Peach and Infinite's firepower. We need to deliver a full barrage of concentrated bombardment."
"Then Luo Yang and Mo Nika, handle the cleanup with your abilities. Everyone else, provide supplementary fire."
"Got it!"
"Sounds doable."
"Understood, Commander Chen."
"One more thing." Chen Sixuan told Xiao Yuan: "Prepare to deploy a Storm Eye F12 supersonic airship missile. Also, mount the Hyperion directional confinement cannon Lin Xian prepared on the rail. If we don't clear them within one minute, use the superweapon."
Xiao Yuan responded instantly: "Understood."
"Whoa, I forgot about Lin's space-based weapon!" Shasha's eyes lit up: "With that, we'll vaporize these things instantly."
"Nice—multiple layers of backup." Qian Dele exhaled in relief: "This should be fine now."
Mo Nika's voice came over the channel: "Still, try to handle this with our own means. This is only a Level Two marker—using the Hyperion cannon on every monster would be wasteful."
"Yes, that weapon can threaten S-class anomalies. We should use it cautiously." Shu Qin agreed.
Chen Sixuan replied immediately: "I know. It's a last resort. We're almost at the loading station—stay alert. We must strike once and shatter them—wipe out the Dark Marker!"
"Got it!"
Everyone responded in unison.
The heavy train roared along the main rail line, steel trembling; Infinite's new outer armor was smeared with sticky, anomalous blood. The 1130 CIWS and electromagnetic railguns on its roof fired alternately, searing bullet streams tearing through the air, eliminating approaching Red Bones and Split-Tail Humans—but their firing rate had slowed.
Inside, Miao Lu had deployed PX-05 robots for a new round of reloading; the robots lined up, their mechanical arms precisely feeding 1130 shells into the gun positions, the metallic clatter of ammunition boxes mingling with the hiss of steam pressure release, preparing for the next wave of firepower.
