Chapter 465

~7 min read 1,238 words

Zeng!

The massive Hyperion directional constraint cannon fell from the Black Star Forge—it was the first time Lin Xian had used it since obtaining it from Mochi Shinji, and its purpose was identical to what Mochi Shinji had intended back in Baicheng: to trigger a chain reaction.

Wum wum wum!

The dome’s ceiling suddenly peeled away, and hundreds of thousands of black worm-snakes twisted into a colossal drill that crashed down like a single body woven from serpents; Kiki thrust both palms forward, unleashing a psychic storm that shattered the drill’s tip, but the scattered swarm instantly spat out silver-green silk nets toward the two.

This time Kiki recognized the power of those threads and dared not meet them head-on; instead, he raised his hand and violently tore a massive section of geothermal shaft wall loose, dragging it before them—the spraying silk instantly melted through the boulder, blasting out clouds of dust and powder.

Meanwhile, on Viola’s side, thousands of drones flitted like swarming insects, darting swiftly above the geothermal shaft, combining furious beams and high-energy impacts to brutally kill the worm-snakes.

“Lin Xian!”

“Done.”

Lin Xian manipulated the mechanical arm to embed itself into the reactor shell’s cooling fins; the thousand-ton metal structure hovered above the boiling magma pool, enveloped in Kiki’s psychic field, then he slammed the chain reaction module into the reactor core and directly secured the massive Hyperion directional constraint cannon above it, forming a makeshift induced reactor device.

【Warning: Enemy biological energy emissions cause extreme damage to the environment and metal apparatuses, with vast coverage. To ensure mission success, the device’s safety must be guaranteed.】

Viola reminded him at this moment.

“Of course! Let’s lure it away!” Lin Xian manipulated the mechanical arm to clamp the reactor onto the cross-shaped base of the geothermal core device, then called to Kiki—their leg thrusters overloaded and fired, and without hesitation they retreated toward the passage.

At this moment, the black worm-snakes blanketing the dome surged wildly toward Lin Xian and Kiki; from afar, they looked like a flowing black current, rapidly twisting and dragging countless insects across the walls, converging into a sky-covering tide.

Viola brought up the rear behind them, thousands of drones moving as if alive, following behind to cover and counterattack; under Viola’s supercomputing power, every drone possessed individual awareness, capable of simultaneously monitoring hundreds of thousands of targets and dispersing defenses—an ability Lin Xian could not achieve, and the very scene he had sought to create with his drone army.

【Upper sensors detect numerous biological entities approaching; estimated contact time: four minutes.】

Before the black worms behind them could pounce, Viola delivered an even more desperate message; Lin Xian clenched his teeth, raised his hand, and fired the mech-cannon to blast open the half-collapsed passage, then Kiki extended a psychic shield, and the two charged inside.

Gong long long.

Shenshuigang, waves churned violently.

The Infinite Train and the Abyss Nuclear Submarine floated half-submerged in ink-black seawater; outside the windows, eerie phosphorescent organisms drifted. Chen Sixuan stood in Car 2 of the Infinite Train, her expression grim as she watched the train’s sentinel system. In the submarine’s command cabin, Ryan stared at the radar screen where a massive red marker pulsed directly beneath them, his finger still pressed to his earpiece; behind him, the rest of the team held their breath, the cabin so silent they could almost hear each other’s heartbeats.

“Lin Xian… Lin Xian…” Chen Sixuan kept contacting Lin Xian.

“Signal from the geothermal shaft is heavily interfered with,” came Xiang Ningjing’s voice from Car 5, where she was monitoring with Da and others: “I suggest we hold off for now.”

“That thing’s right under the water—we can’t tell what it is,” Ryan said, his tone equally troubled.

“At least Class A or Special Grade—the Spirit Resonance Detector registered extremely high dark energy fluctuations,” said Erica of the Falcon Sea Corps.

Gedi said: “Looks like it hasn’t noticed us yet. Best not to strike first—if it marks us, we’re in trouble.”

“It’s not about being marked anymore,” said Monica, leaning forward in the Infinite Train’s cockpit, gazing at the black water beyond the Stardust window; a bizarre black-and-white banded tentacle slowly glided across the surface. She spoke sharply: “This thing is blocking our descent path.”

At these words, all other core members fell silent on the comms channel.

Chen Sixuan spoke now: “Monica, Ryan—everyone prepare to act. We have only one path left.”

The Infinite Train had already been modified for deep diving; all onboard weapons were disabled. To handle this threat, only psychics could intervene.

As tension mounted, a violent explosion erupted from above; the surface of Shenshuigang began boiling furiously. The creature beneath seemed to have locked onto a target—the ink-black water suddenly stilled, the floating phosphorescent microbes extinguished en masse, the submarine’s sonar screen erupted in crimson waves, and simultaneously, alarms blared inside both the Falcon Sea Corps and the Infinite Train.

“Here it comes!”

Gong long!!

Between the Infinite Train and the submarine, the water suddenly bulged upward—then a gelatinous tentacle over thirty meters in diameter, carrying the weight of a colossal entity, erupted from the sea; thousands of tons of seawater slammed against the submarine’s pressure hull, hurling the vessel sideways like a toy into the rock wall, the titanium alloy shell shrieking in protest.

Almost simultaneously, five pale, spined tentacles wrapped around Car 3 of the Infinite Train and yanked it violently out of the water.

“Act now!”

In the instant the creature broke the surface without revealing its full form, both sides responded: above the submarine, a flash of cold air swept across the water—every churning wave froze instantly, then shattered under the creature’s charge, only to refreeze and crumble into vast sheets of ice.

On the Infinite Train’s side, Long Zhijie flew out from the hatch and struck midair, shattering the tentacles entangling the train; he simultaneously shielded both the submarine and the train with a psychic wave. At the same moment, three figures appeared atop the train’s pressure hull: Huo Ge, Monica, and Abai—the three area-effect psychics—each unleashed their attacks instantly: the Flame Sword, laser beams, and an invisible sonic blade.

Gong gong gong!

Above Shenshuigang, the crane lights flickered erratically; the entire cavern was now illuminated by fire and laser light. The creature, only partially emerged, revealed a portion of its body—its massive form squeezed between the train and submarine, displaying a grotesque fusion of whale skull and deep-sea worm traits: a million compound eyes rolled within skull fissures, and its gaping mouth held six spiraling rings of teeth, emitting a low-frequency hum that tugged at souls.

Huo Ge’s three attacks struck the creature instantly—their biological field shattered, the whale skull ruptured into a gaping hole, gushing torrents of black blood; yet what surfaced was only part of its torso. After being struck, it convulsed violently and began furiously charging upward toward the passage.

“Think you can run?!” Huo Ge raised his sword finger, preparing to finish it.

Monica saw this and her gaze shifted sharply: “Its target isn’t us—it’s above!”

“Lin Xian?” Chen Sixuan realized it, about to speak—when Lin Xian’s voice finally crackled through the channel.

“Dive! Dive!”

Gong long long—the moment Lin Xian’s voice ended, the entire submarine base erupted in violent earthquakes; the water churned, the ground shook, rocks and walls collapsed continuously, and the upper levels began collapsing entirely.

“Lin Xian’s been marked—quick, control it!”
