It was located 1.5km into the marsh, within a partially submerged ruin structure.

The Greyfen Village was built specifically to reclaim it and expand the lost territory of the Empire.

Along the way, Max and his party met quite a lot of monsters and demons.

Most of them were imps, a pack of wolves, or a mud boar, lying around quietly...

If it wasn’t for the scout, who swiftly jumped from tree to tree to scout ahead, they might have been taken out by surprise.

Max really liked to have a scout around. Even if players deemed the scout profession as useless and boring, it was the most important profession for reconnaissance.

With it, they were also able to avoid unnecessary confrontation against large quantities of F-Rank monsters and demons, or a single E-rank demon and monster.

Eventually, they arrived into the Drowned Watchtower’s submerged outer halls.

There was only a single entrance, which was facing the village.

They entered through the flooded stone corridors, with ankle to knee depth water. Added by the dense fog causing low visibility and unstable flooring and partial collapses, the scout had quite a hard time scouting ahead.

In the end, Max ordered the scout to remain in close proximity with them as he relied on his mana sensitivity to detect enemies hiding below the water.

However, it was the scout who detected the enemies earlier than him.

It was inevitable, the Keen Perception passive skill of the scout was way more effective in detecting enemies and traps than the mana sensitivity of the mage, especially when it didn’t involve mana.

Although there was a slight demonic mana that the marsh beasts, amphibious predators hiding below the water, radiated, his scout was still way faster in detecting them.

Max didn’t need to make a move, either. His archers were swift.

Despite the enemies hiding below the water, their accuracy in targeting them was deadly.

Except, they seemed to be wasting their arrows out of obvious competition between them.

He sighed helplessly and asked them, "How many arrows do you have?"

Rhayne quickly checked her inventory and immediately replied, "I have a hundred and fifty wooden arrows. A hundred heavy arrows. Fifty fire arrows."

Max was quite surprised. He turned towards Ethan, and the latter scratched his cheeks and replied, "I have the same amount of arrows as her, except for the fire arrows. That one is expensive."

"How much?"

"At least 10 coppers per arrow."

Max drew a sharp breath. That much expensive?

He turned towards Rhayne, who was excessively proud that her competitor lost in the battle of ammunition with her.

Max saw her reaction and rolled his eyes.Filthy rich woman.

He then glanced at the arrows as they passed by the marsh beasts and realized that Rhayne utilized a heavy arrow instead compared to Ethan’s wooden arrows.

The heavy arrow penetrated the head of the marsh beasts, instantly killing it.

He pondered. So, Rhayne knows better to hunt than Ethan, huh?

However, when Max examined closely, Ethan targeted the limbs of the marsh beast. It appeared that Ethan was aware that Rhayne would utilize the heavy arrows for higher impact force, so he did not compete at all, and instead focused on sealing their movements.

Hence, Max changed his mind and understood that these two worked better in coordinating with one another.

As they proceeded through the seemingly longer submerged outer halls, they continued to face sneaky attacks from marsh beasts.

There was a time when Max had to make a move when he noticed Mire Leeches—a type of monster that was sensitive to mana.

They sucked the mana of an individual, making them a hazardous creature.

They also positioned themselves quite well that made it difficult for the scout to notice them. They were blending with other marsh beasts for distraction.

If it wasn’t that they radiated a mana too, albeit demonic one, Max would have failed to notice them and end them one at a time.

It was the first time that he had shown his capabilities to his party members, which instantly gained their awe.

After all, Max’s accuracy with his arcane bolt was deadly and his casting time was surprisingly faster than the archers, who had to nock an arrow before pulling and releasing it.

They were dumbfounded. They even wondered if Max needed them.

Not only that, they were seeing Max dual-casting—two arcane bolts targeting in a different direction.

They couldn’t help but wonder if he had two brains.

Rhayne couldn’t even hide the shock on her face.

With widened eyes and mouth, Max chuckled at her and closed her mouth with his hand.

Rhayne was startled awake and rolled her eyes.

She asked, "Do you even need us? It sounds like you don’t."

"I wouldn’t have spent so much effort in going to each of your places one by one, then. And also, we are not even on the hardest part yet, we are still in Level 1, so conserve your strength as much as possible."

Max was aware that the difficulty of a local dungeon was mostly divided by three levels.

If it was to be interpreted better, it would have been easy, hard, and difficult.

Eventually, when they were about to reach the inner ruin corridor, the marsh beasts seemed to have become more restless and aggressive, causing the scout to leap behind Eva as she took the aggro.

Despite being a swordswoman and with the profession mostly known for being a duelist, Eva was taught by her mother to fight with a shield.

Her mother learned about fighting with shields through a shield bearer and implemented her own battle style that she passed on to her daughter.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that she learned about the shield bearer’s skill, but the parry skill of swordswoman was enough for a shield to completely block an enemy’s attack with such skill.

As Eva successfully took on the impact of three to five amphibian beasts, Clara immediately casted a healing skill on her, knowing that the impact alone cost her of her health.

Meanwhile, Max, Rhayne, and Ethan joined in by attacking precisely the amphibious beasts, eventually killing them.

Rhayne levels up to 19, while Max doesn’t at all, only receiving EXP.

Even if killing the Mire Leeches was to be added, he only accumulated 459 EXP in total, quite a bit far from the 600 EXP requirement to level up to 41.

As the scout killed the last amphibian monster, Max gestured to him to take a lead in entering the inner ruin corridor.

===

A/N: Thanks for reading!
