Chapter 105

~7 min read 1,264 words

"So, President Lin, how about we become friends? Perhaps we might even collaborate in the future!"

Hearing this, Lin Yi thought to himself,

You are an investor; what possibility for collaboration is there between your internet live-streaming business and my manufacturing enterprise?

Furthermore, unless your father personally steps in, with that meager amount of money you have, he, Lin Yi, truly does not look highly upon it.

Just considering his current overseas assets exceeding ten billion US dollars.

In terms of liquid cash, even the entire Wanda Group might not be able to produce such an amount.

However, as the saying goes, one does not strike a smiling face.

Since the other party was so enthusiastic, expressing both admiration and a desire to cooperate,

Lin Yi nodded in agreement.

"Then let's exchange contact information; when I have time, I will introduce some friends to you, President Lin!"

Wang Wang Shicong said with a smile.

"Alright!" Lin Yi did not object.

Although he now possessed some government background,

expanding his network of connections would

do him no harm.

He could not possibly call Secretary Wang or Vice Mayor Zhou every time some trivial matter arose.

Doing so would make him appear far too incapable.

Thus, the two exchanged WeChat contacts.

Lin Yi then directly took the elevator and went home.

"Who was that man!"

Shirley, the beauty beside Wang Wang Shicong, asked.

This Shirley could be considered a first-generation internet celebrity, possessing a stunningly beautiful appearance,

and Wang Wang Shicong happened to favor exactly this type.

Their romance in Sydney this year had sparked widespread attention.

From the very beginning, Shirley had been sizing up Lin Yi; he was somewhat handsome.

At the very least, he was far more handsome than her boyfriend, Wang Wang Shicong.

Wang Wang Shicong's looks were merely average, leaning toward below average.

However, to Shirley, that was all that mattered,

because she did not know Lin Yi's identity.

"This brother is quite extraordinary; he is still a university student, much younger than me,

yet the enterprise he founded has attracted deep attention from the higher-ups,

moreover, this fellow has rejected numerous venture capital firms, including some international giants,

such as Sequoia Capital and Hillhouse Capital,

if this brother were willing to let these venture firms invest, his company would be valued at least in the tens of billions..."

Wang Wang Shicong remarked with a sigh.

"So... formidable!" Shirley was also startled by what her boyfriend said.

To think that a student who had not yet graduated from university had directly created a company with assets starting in the tens of billions.

Such a person was probably comparable to Bill Gates of Microsoft.

"Exactly, I was also shocked after investigating."

Wang Wang Shicong continued:

"My father always says at home that the friends I keep are all bad companions and fair-weather friends; now that I have met Lin Yi, let's see what he has to say then, hehe!"

At this, Shirley also smiled faintly.

However, it was obvious that this woman had certainly taken note of Lin Yi in her heart.

At this moment, Lin Yi naturally knew nothing of their conversation.

As for Wang Wang Shicong, he did not care too much about him.

He regarded it merely as a small interlude;

if it were Old Wang, he estimated he would treat the matter seriously.

After all, that man was currently the wealthiest Chinese person and the business leader of Dragon Country.

Although Lin Yi felt that his future self would certainly surpass the other, at the present stage, the other was still Dragon Country's undisputed number one.

Furthermore, Lin Yi did not possess foresight at this time; he could not possibly know that Wanda would suffer a catastrophic collapse in the future.

Old Wang frantically sold off assets to repay debts, causing his net worth to shrink drastically.

Upon returning home, he turned on the television.

Lin Yi cooked a bowl of instant noodles for himself and began watching the 100-inch large TV.

Accompanied by a familiar melody, CCTV-1 began broadcasting the "Xinwen Xinwen Lianbo" news program.

However, the format of "Xinwen Xinwen Lianbo" basically consisted of the first ten minutes discussing how busy the leaders were,

the middle ten minutes depicting how happy Dragon Country was, and the last ten minutes showing how chaotic foreign countries were.

The reality indeed matched this, at least regarding international news.

The news reported that the United States had launched an air raid on the capital of Syria using two aircraft carriers and F/A-18E/F fighter jets firing depleted uranium munitions, targeting forces such as the Houthi armed group in Yemen.

This air raid had caused a severe disaster.

At least a hundred Syrian civilians lost their lives in this airstrike.

The Ugly Nation's spokesperson, however, stated this was retaliation for Syria's recent attack on Ugly Nation bases.

In response, Syria lodged a severe protest and accused the Ugly Nation of atrocities before the Lianheguo Assembly.

They exposed the Ugly Nation's heinous acts of massacring civilians with depleted uranium shells and stealing oil resources within Syrian territory.

Yet, the Ugly Nation's representative walked out directly, utterly unwilling to listen to Syria's speech, carrying their arrogance to the extreme.

Lin Yi did not know that the Syrian side had also been enraged by the Ugly Nation's atrocities at this moment,

and that depleted uranium shells had actually been used against Syria due to the previous incident.

(PS: For this new book, I beg for flowers, tips, and review votes; your support is the author's motivation!)

People mine uranium-bearing ores from nature and, through steps such as crushing, leaching, and precipitation, extract uranium concentrate, known as "yellowcake."

Then, the yellowcake is heated and reduced to uranium trioxide, which reacts with hydrofluoric acid to produce uranium hexafluoride, a volatile solid.

Next, it is separated into enriched uranium and depleted uranium.

Enriched uranium contains a higher proportion of uranium-235 and can be used to manufacture nuclear fuel or nuclear weapons.

Depleted uranium contains a lower proportion of uranium-235; it has weaker radioactivity but higher density.

Finally, the depleted uranium is converted into metallic uranium or alloys, then forged and machined to produce depleted uranium warheads.

Although depleted uranium has far lower radioactivity than enriched uranium, it still possesses certain radioactivity and chemical toxicity.

When a depleted uranium projectile strikes a target, the resulting high temperature and pressure melt the warhead and splash it into microscopic particles, forming a depleted uranium aerosol.

These aerosols disperse with the wind into the surrounding air, water sources, and soil, causing long-term harm to living organisms.

Depleted uranium aerosols can enter the human body through breathing, food, or skin contact, damaging organs such as the lungs, liver, kidneys, bones, and brain.

Depleted uranium also damages the human immune system and genetic material, leading to severe consequences such as cancer, birth defects, and miscarriages.

During the 1991 Persian Gulf War, the Ugly Army used approximately 300 tons of depleted uranium munitions.

After the war, the incidence of leukemia and birth defects in Iraq increased significantly.

Even soldiers of the Ugly Army developed many mysterious illnesses,

known as "Gulf War Syndrome."

In the 1999 war against Kosovo, North Yue used approximately 30,000 rounds of depleted uranium munitions.

After the war, cancer mortality rates in Kosovo and the Balkan region also rose markedly.

During the 2003 Iraq War, the Ugly Army again used approximately 1,000 tons of depleted uranium munitions.

After the war, the number of cancer patients in Basra, a city in southern Iraq, increased tenfold.
