Chapter 208

~7 min read 1,267 words

Thick smoke billowed across every corner of the battlefield.

In just this single wave, the British coalition forces suffered nearly a thousand casualties from explosions and debris.

Moreover, the surviving soldiers were each in a state of utter disarray.

Some, in their rush to dodge attacks, could not even locate their own weapons.

Fortunately, two South Korean soldiers, Jiang Jiang Enbiao and Shen Rirong, survived.

However, their condition was far from good.

The blast waves had injured them both, leaving their faces covered in blood.

Yet, compared to some other South Korean soldiers, they were much better off.

Jiang Jiang Enbiao had personally witnessed a soldier who had just been speaking with him inside a troop transport.

That soldier lost half his head instantly when a steel plate flew in from nowhere and sliced through him.

The look of terror on the man's face remained frozen there.

That sight filled Jiang Jiang Enbiao with immense fear, let alone the timid Shen Rirong.

Shen Rirong was so frightened he collapsed to the ground, scrambling backward repeatedly.

In merely ten-plus minutes, this unit had completely lost its will to fight.

Fortunately, for some unknown reason, perhaps due to the enemy exhausting their ammunition,

the missile bombardment finally ceased.

Recalling the overwhelming missile strike from moments before, these soldiers all felt a sense of having survived a calamity.

However, experienced officers still felt uneasy in their hearts.

They found it hard to believe the enemy would launch so many missiles for only a single air raid.

Just then, Jiang Jiang Enbiao and several other South Korean soldiers noticed the ground trembling.

Small stones were vibrating on the surface.

Without any hesitation, Jiang Jiang Enbiao roared at the timid Shen Rirong,

"Run!! It's a massive armored force!"

"What!" Shen Rirong still did not understand what was happening.

Some people, looking through binoculars, already saw clouds of dust rolling in just a few kilometers away.

Within the dust, large numbers of M1A2 Abrams tanks could be seen intermittently.

Simultaneously, in the sky, large formations of fully armed Apache attack helicopters appeared.

The ground tremors just now were caused by these heavy weapons.

Besides this, many also spotted soldiers with stern Asian features, hidden within the dust cloud, rapidly approaching.

Clutching their firearms, they were speeding forward behind the tanks and armored vehicles, closing in on this position.

At this moment, many British soldiers still wished to resist, but in an instant, they realized their own heavy weapons were mostly destroyed.

Fighting against such a steel torrent with only their machine guns would be like striking a rock with an egg.

Not to mention, the enemy combined tank and infantry tactics, supported by large helicopter formations in the air.

"Flee!" This was the only word in everyone's mind.

Looking through binoculars, the South Korean soldier Shen Rirong was terrified into stupor.

Seeing those Asian soldiers, his first instinct was that they were absolutely not military personnel from Japan, Southeast Asia, or North Korea.

Soldiers from those forty-four countries simply did not possess such formidable spirit.

"Are these all regular troops from the Dragon Nation? Has the Dragon Nation dispatched Volunteer Army units to join the fight again..."

Shen Rirong shrieked.

In reality, South Koreans generally looked down upon the people of the Dragon Nation.

This was because during the 1960s and 70s, South Korea's economy developed rapidly, creating the Miracle on the Han River.

South Korea was listed as one of the Four Asian Tigers, with a GDP several times that of the Dragon Nation at the time.

Finally able to breathe a sigh of relief after being bullied by the Dragon Nation for thousands of years, South Korea even began to act arrogantly and flaunt its power.

Unfortunately, good times did not last; the 1997 Southeast Asian financial crisis caused a massive economic regression in South Korea, stripping away the halo of the Four Asian Tigers long ago.

Meanwhile, the rise of mainland Dragon Nation made South Korea feel an overwhelming sense of inferiority once again.

Lacking greatly in history and culture, and in order to realize their dream of becoming number one in the world,

South Koreans fantasized that they were the orthodox inheritors of Chinese civilization, claiming that many things belonging to the Dragon Nation were actually South Korean.

However, this was nothing more than wishful jealousy.

Enraged and humiliated by this, South Korea self-righteously believed that the Dragon Nation had stolen their culture since the Qing Dynasty, thus harboring particular hatred toward the Dragon Nation.

South Korea still lives in the delusion of the Miracle on the Han River to this day,

believing the Dragon Nation remains a backward, poor, and ignorant country, utterly unwilling to open its eyes to reality.

However, there is one thing South Koreans fear greatly about the Dragon Nation.

That is the Korean War; no matter how much South Korean movies and TV dramas later whitewashed their own bravery,

the fact remains that they were routed and shattered by the Volunteer Army back then.

For these Dragon Nation soldiers bearing the title of Volunteer Army, South Koreans harbor a fear engraved in their very souls.

This is why Shen Rirong was so terrified.

Jiang Jiang Enbiao beside him felt the same way.

The two exchanged a glance, then ignored their injuries entirely and broke into a run.

As for the South Korean officer responsible for supervising the battle, he shouted loudly, trying to order the soldiers to fight.

Yet not a single soldier listened to him.

The remaining soldiers from the Stick Nation wished they could grow an extra leg.

This scene closely resembled the sight from years past, when the Dragon Nation's Volunteer Army pursued the soldiers of the Stick Nation.

As the steel torrent of tanks rolled forward,

their equipped M256A1 smoothbore cannons began firing rapidly from two kilometers away.

Over a hundred 120mm tank cannons were absolutely terrifying.

The destructive radius of the M256A1 smoothbore cannon was basically a circle with a 25-meter radius.

Within this range, once the shells landed, survival was nearly impossible.

Simultaneously, the barrage from a hundred cannons instantly claimed hundreds of British lives.

Moreover, following behind the tanks,

were one hundred M109A6 "Paladin" 155mm tracked self-propelled howitzers.

In the distance, one could see an area subjected to carpet bombing.

Massive fireballs rose accompanied by thick black smoke.

Seeing this, the British soldiers, lacking heavy weapons, had no courage left to resist;

they simply turned and ran.

However, how could legs possibly outrun tanks?

Soon, after several rounds of shelling, the tanks caught up from behind.

Immediately, the tank commanders remotely operated the 12.7mm heavy machine guns,

which, combined with the 7.62mm machine guns fired by the loaders, began spewing tongues of fire.

One must understand just how terrifying a 12.7mm heavy machine gun is;

its ammunition possesses extreme penetration power, capable of inflicting massive damage in a short time.

When striking the side of a vehicle consecutively, it leaves multiple bullet holes of varying sizes,

demonstrating the immense destructive power of these bullets when penetrating objects.

Furthermore, after such caliber bullets pass through a human body, resistance and tumbling cause them to create even larger wounds,

potentially damaging the body's structural integrity, even severing people in half.

For a moment, the entire battlefield was awash in flying blood.

Many John Bull soldiers were blown into misty sprays of blood.

Meanwhile, in the sky, the Apache helicopters were equipped with the even more powerful M230 30mm automatic cannons,
