Chapter 12
“Jurassic Park was built by me—a massive amusement park filled with countless herbivorous dinosaurs. I spent enormous sums of money constructing vast, dense forests and grasslands. I’m certain that once completed, it will attract tourists from all over the world. I intend to make it the largest, most beautiful, and most visited amusement park on Earth.”
Dr. Hammond walked as he spoke; before him stretched an endless electric fence, invisible currents flowing through it—anyone who touched it would instantly be reduced to ash by high-voltage electricity.
“Oh, I’m sure Dr. Hammond can do it,” Julie said with a smile, then turned to the students. “Soon, you’ll see giant dinosaurs. Children, don’t be afraid—dinosaurs won’t eat people.”
“I’m not scared at all, Teacher Julie. I’m going to be Superman someday,” Peter said, clenching his fist and swinging it fiercely through the air.
The little girl whom Hammond had just picked up clearly disapproved of Peter’s arrogance and immediately exposed his weakness: “Peter, who was it just now, almost peed his pants?”
“Haha, it was Peter.”
“Peter the Superman—except he’s a diaper-wetting Superman.”
The children burst into laughter, all staring at Peter and jeering at him.
“Enough,” Jessica walked over and shielded Peter. “Stop laughing at Peter. Dinosaurs are terrifying by nature—if you encountered a carnivorous one, you’d probably wet your pants too.”
“Why are you defending Peter?” the girl who had exposed him asked. “Do you like him?”
“I don’t like him at all. Don’t go guessing other people’s feelings,” Jessica replied, shaking her head. She stole a glance at Ye Nan and saw his expression unchanged, so she quietly exhaled in relief—though Jessica didn’t notice.
When the girl asked if Jessica liked Peter, Peter’s eyes had brightened noticeably—but when Jessica denied it, his expression instantly dimmed.
“If you don’t like him, why are you protecting him? Aren’t you the one who always picks on people?” The girl’s face lit up the moment Jessica denied it.
“Watch it, Mary Jane Watson. My business is none of yours. If you keep interfering, I’ll send you to a wild party.”
Ye Nan watched the children bickering. When Jessica mentioned the wild party, his brow furrowed slightly. He walked over. “Jessica, didn’t you promise me you’d be a good child? Why are you still going to those wild parties?”
“You don’t know,” Mary interjected, smirking at Jessica. “Jessica throws wild parties at school all the time. All kinds of outside women come in, and the school never does anything about it.”
She had heard Jessica was fearless of everyone—except her brother. So she was delighted to see Jessica look bad in front of her own sibling.
Jessica suddenly lunged at Mary, slapping her hands over Mary’s mouth. “I’ll tear out your tongue.”
“Stop!” Ye Nan grabbed Jessica’s wrist. “Didn’t you tell me you were a model student at school? Didn’t you tell me you’d never hang out with bad company again? Didn’t you tell me you’d never associate with shady people again?”
Ye Nan spoke with heartache. The once arrogant little girl, though proud, had never lied. Though sharp-tongued, she had always held a moral line. But now, after only a few months, she had learned to lie, to throw wild parties, to consort with unsavory people.
Jessica was his sister. She had saved him once—if not for her, he might have been buried somewhere unknown. He had always spoiled her. But now, she was throwing wild parties at school.
What were wild parties? They were second only to naked parties in decadence.
“What model student? She throws parties every day at school. Even the teachers dare not discipline her,” Mary smirked, delivering a devastating revelation.
Jessica’s earlier move had terrified her. Now that she’d regained her composure, she felt a lingering fear—and that was why she needed revenge.
“Shut up, Mary,” said Julie, the lead teacher.
“I’m just telling the truth. You have no right to tell me to shut up,” Mary snapped, showing no fear despite Julie being her teacher.
“You...” Julie nearly fainted from anger. She naturally disliked Jessica—no one liked a student who turned the school into a mess. But Jessica had powerful connections.
Her brother was the CEO of ICQ Company—ridiculously rich. A small school couldn’t afford to offend a Haomen heiress. In America, money was everything.
She had told Mary to shut up out of concern—for Mary’s own sake, fearing Jessica’s retaliation. But now, Mary not only failed to appreciate it, she turned around and insulted her.
Jessica clenched her teeth, saying nothing. In her heart, she hated Mary—the gossiping witch. She swore that once they returned home, she’d make Mary pay—teach her what words to say and which to keep to herself.
Ye Nan saw Jessica’s clenched teeth and instantly understood her thoughts. He shook his head. “From now on, I won’t give you any allowance. If you need money, go ask Andy Dad.”
“Why?!” Jessica screamed. Her entire lavish lifestyle depended on money—without it, no one would hang around her. If she lost her allowance, her future would be unbearable.
“No reason. Because you’re behaving badly. I’ll give you allowance again only when you truly recognize your mistakes.” Ye Nan’s voice was cold. He turned to Julie. “Teacher, please strictly supervise Jessica. Don’t let her associate with unsavory people. From now on, I’ll send a dedicated driver to pick her up.”
“No! I’ll do what I want—it’s my freedom. You can’t send someone to pick me up!”
Losing money meant hardship—but she could find other ways to get cash. But if she was locked down, she’d become a caged canary, stripped of all freedom.
“Protest denied.”
“I’ll file a complaint with the federal government—accusing you of child abuse!”
“Go ahead,” Ye Nan said coldly. “Without money, you won’t find a lawyer. I, however, can hire dozens to sue you. You won’t win.”
“Hmph...” Jessica stomped her foot, glaring at his retreating back. “You damn brother—no one’s got a brother like you!”
“Jessica, he’s only doing this for your own good,” Julie knelt down and wiped the tears from Jessica’s face.
“Don’t you dare touch me,” Jessica twisted away and ran after him.
