Chapter 2
The Chinese restaurant opened by Daddy Andy was called Andy Restaurant, with a light red tone, tall and bright, with dozens of small light bulbs hanging above, making customers always feel like it was daytime.
A Chinese restaurant is a cheap, exotic-flavored restaurant. The main customers are yellow people from Asia and black people from Africa. Although there are white people, they are very rare; they prefer to go to fast-food restaurants like McDonald's and KFC, or go to Japanese restaurants.
"Daddy Andy, Mom Shilu, I'm here." Ye Nan walked into the restaurant empty-handed, looked at the empty restaurant that hadn't started business yet, and nodded with satisfaction.
Although Mom Shilu was said to be of Chinese-Western mixed descent, she had a head of golden hair, black eyes, and always wore a so-called cheongsam of flowery red, with a pungent smell of inferior perfume hitting the nose.
Mom Shilu, sitting at the counter, looked at Ye Nan, and a smile immediately bloomed on her face, "Little Andy, you're here again. Didn't I tell you? You should stay at school and study hard."
"Mom Shilu, it's not that I don't like studying, it's just that I'll have to find a job in the future anyway, so why not start working now." Ye Nan revealed a flattering smile, like a spoiled child.
In the United States, the proportion of illiterates is very high. Many children do not like to study; they either go to work early to get a salary, or if they are like delinquent girls, become delinquent boys, partying everywhere, driving fast cars. In short, the United States is a decadent world.
"Nonsense, how can a child not go to study? I don't know how many people want to study but don't have the conditions." Daddy Andy walked out from the back.
At this moment, Daddy Andy had a tall white hat on his head and a white apron on his body, a standard chef, standing right in front of Ye Nan.
"Daddy Andy, if I don't come, many people will be disappointed." Ye Nan blinked, full of smiles.
Since joining the big family of Andy, Ye Nan had shown his skills. Under the experimentation of a large amount of ingredients, he could be considered to have done a decent job.
In fact, Americans eating in Chinese restaurants are mostly looking for exotic customs, enjoying delicacies from other countries, and have low requirements for chefs. And Daddy Andy followed his grandfather to the United States to make a living in his early years, and his own culinary skills were not good. Unexpectedly, after just three months, he was surpassed by Ye Nan, this newly promoted chef.
Daddy Andy's Chinese restaurant's business was originally not good, and many Chinese would rather walk an extra step to the Chinese restaurant on another street. But ever since Ye Nan came, things had changed drastically. In front of the most authentic dishes from the ancient East, how could those Chinese dishes that had long changed their taste have the qualifications to snatch Chinese customers?
"Bad luck, it's not just that damn Japanese person next door who opened a Japanese restaurant and snatched a lot of our business." Andy complained to Ye Nan.
Chinese and Japanese have always been a pair of rivals. From the Second World War to the United States, competition is everywhere. For Americans, they taste the culture from the East, and the Japanese are also in the ranks of Eastern culture, even if in reality the Japanese stole Eastern culture.
In the United States, Japanese food is very refined, and the price is much more expensive than Chinese restaurants, so Japanese restaurants can be called the biggest rivals of Chinese restaurants.
Ye Nan frowned slightly. While taking the hat from Daddy Andy, he said, "Daddy Andy, can we also make Japanese food?"
"We also make Japanese food? Little Andy, how can what we make be as authentic as theirs? Just like that fat boss." Daddy Andy squinted and said, somewhat proud.
Ye Nan knew that the fat boss referred to the boss of the Chinese food store next door. That pitiful boss's main customers were originally Chinese, but ever since Ye Nan joined Andy Restaurant, that shop had become completely deserted. How could the taste made by overseas Chinese be as authentic as that made by Chinese?...
"Relax, relax, Little Andy, don't think about it, let's just make Chinese food well. Anyway, our customers are mainly Chinese." Daddy Andy pushed the thinking Ye Nan into the kitchen, then poked his head out and said, "Shilu, open for business."
"Okay, Andy."
With the opening of Andy Restaurant, gradually, there were more people, and finally, the entire Andy Restaurant was full.
In fact, Andy Restaurant is not big, just a small restaurant that can accommodate about forty people, but in the past, business was half-dead, and now, it can be described as booming.
"Oh, God above, our Andy family picked up a treasure." Mom Shilu said while recording the dishes the diners needed.
"That's for sure." Ye Nan poked his head out, "But Mom Shilu, you are hiring child labor, be careful that the American Child Labor Union will sue you."
"Go, go away, little brat, you are my son, how could the American Child Labor Union come to sue me? And you haven't signed a formal contract, so you don't count as a worker in our restaurant." Shilu blinked slyly, blocking Ye Nan's words back.
"Oh, God." Ye Nan made an exaggerated expression, "How could I encounter such a capitalist who exploits child labor? She actually thought of a way not to sign a contract to exploit me, this pitiful child."
"Haha." Daddy Andy laughed and brought Ye Nan back, "Little Andy, hurry up and work, be careful I deduct your salary."
"God, Daddy Andy, you can't do this. Pity me like a Yang Bailao, working more than an ox, eating less than an ox, and you actually want to deduct my salary. Be careful I go to the American court to sue you." Ye Nan made a gesture of covering his head, seemingly unbearable.
"Court? Those stupid judges in the court are arguing endlessly about the compensation for the shipwreck incident, and have no time to manage you, this little child laborer."
"Shipwreck incident? What shipwreck incident?" Ye Nan asked curiously.
"Look, it's being reported above, telling you not to like watching the news." Daddy Andy pouted and pointed to a small TV hanging above the kitchen.
There are two TVs in the restaurant, one is specifically for customers to watch, and it is always ABC TV station all year round, and here, it is specifically for Daddy Andy to watch, the channels are very rich, but Ye Nan, who was a homebody in his previous life, has no interest in TV, he prefers computers.
"Latest news just sent back from New York, a huge deep-sea monster attacked an American fishing boat..."
"Deep-sea monster? Does this world have this thing?" Ye Nan looked curiously at the so-called monster on the TV. It was a huge, flat black shadow, as if it were a giant lizard.
Andy heard Ye Nan's words and knocked hard on Ye Nan's head, "Where in this world are there any monsters? This is just a trick played by those fishing boats for the insurance company's compensation. I've seen too many of these things. What monster, what Godzilla, it's all hype."
"Ah, is what Daddy Andy said, that the court is arguing endlessly about the compensation for the shipwreck incident, referring to this?" Ye Nan exclaimed.
"Of course, but those idiots, thinking the insurance company is so easy to fool? Getting a broken monster and a broken photo, and wanting to get compensation, those damn Japanese." Andy said disdainfully.
"That's right, Japanese are cunning, for money, they can do anything." Ye Nan said with shared hatred, and then no longer paid attention to the so-called monster.
