Chapter 255: The Professor's Heart
This is New York, this is America. ICQ Company cannot cover the sky with one hand, but must act cautiously. If one is not careful and is caught by others, one will be sent to prison.
Ye Nan sent out so many Terminators, also taking many risks. The longer the time drags on, the more unfavorable it is for him.
In fact, he didn't intend to really bomb the school. He just wanted to scare Professor X. He was competing with Professor X: who would surrender first.
If Professor X surrendered and returned Logan, Ororo, and Duan Yan under Ye Nan's threat, he naturally wouldn't bomb the school. If he refused to surrender, Ye Nan had no other way.
For that group of students, Ye Nan hadn't reached the point of being cold-blooded. After all, they were just innocent children. Using children to threaten Professor X, he already felt he was very despicable. To ask him to take a ruthless hand, he couldn't do it.
"I warn you, Professor X, your time is running out. Don't challenge my patience anymore." Ye Nan left a harsh word, threatening: "If you want to protect your mutant students, agree to my conditions. Otherwise, I will bomb your school to the ground."
"Are you really willing to see the school you built with your own hands burned to the ground?"
Ye Nan's voice grew louder and louder, to the point of being a bit sharp.
"Ye Nan, are you really going to be an enemy of all mutants?" Professor X's fingers gripping the armrest turned pale. Facing the choice given by Ye Nan, he had fallen into a rage.
No one had ever threatened him like this, not even Magneto. But now, facing Ye Nan's threat, he didn't know how to counterattack at all.
The particle cannon in the Terminator's hand was not very powerful in terms of power, not even as threatening as the missiles of fighter jets in the sky. His psychic power was enough to intercept missiles.
But the number of these attack methods was too many. He couldn't guarantee that he could intercept them all.
"I have never been an enemy of all mutants, and I have also acted with sympathy and friendship toward mutants. It's just that the things you did are too sordid, forcing me to coerce you."
"You first sent people to attack Logan, then washed his memory, threw him into underground boxing, and separated him from his son Daken. You say, are the things you did what a person should do?"
"You are not only like this, you also sent people to intercept me halfway. Unfortunately, Ororo and Jean Grey were caught by me."
Hearing Ye Nan's words, Cyclops, who was standing behind Professor X, finally couldn't help but ask: "What did you do to them?"
He and Jean Grey were lovers. Facing his girlfriend being caught, his heart was full of anxiety.
"Don't worry, I didn't do anything to them. Just locked them in ICQ Company." Ye Nan said.
"Despicable." Cyclops gritted his teeth and cursed.
"Not as despicable as your Professor X." Ye Nan didn't care about Cyclops' curse at all, "I don't want to say anything more. As long as your Professor X is willing to agree to my conditions, I will release your friends. How about it? My conditions are very fair."
"Professor..." Cyclops heard this and couldn't help but lower his head, wanting to persuade the Professor.
"Don't be impatient, Jean Grey will be fine." Professor X waved his hand, signaling Cyclops not to speak.
"Ye Nan, are you really going to be an enemy of all mutants?" Professor X said painfully, "My heart is for the peaceful coexistence of mutants and humans. I absolutely have no selfishness. On this point, I can ask myself. But you, Ye Nan, you are painstakingly provoking a war between humans and mutants. Do you dare to ask yourself?"
"How dare I not." Ye Nan sneered, "I am different from you. I am a human. Everything I do, although it has my own interests, from the overall perspective, I am also considering the overall situation of humanity."
"For the overall situation of humanity? You provoke the contradiction between mutants and humans, challenge the anti-mutant tide, you deserve to die." Professor X was trembling with anger.
He had never seen such a shameless person. Clearly, he had set off an anti-mutant tide, but he kept saying he was considering the overall situation of humanity. This was simply shameless to the extreme.
"I provoked the anti-mutant tide? Professor X, don't push everything onto me." Ye Nan's voice became even colder.
"What I did was just expose the existence of mutants. What I did was just push the mutant registration proposal. What's wrong with these?"
The anti-mutant tide was just the American public's own choice. What he did was just poke out things that the public shouldn't have known.
"Professor X, could it be that you think the American public shouldn't know the truth?"
"Pushing the mutant registration proposal, do you know how much harm your proposal will bring to mutants?" Professor X said painfully.
The mutant registration proposal was a proposal that truly pushed mutants into the sunlight. Once this proposal passed, mutants would be excluded by the entire society. This was simply a devastating disaster.
He, who had dedicated his life to protecting mutants and letting mutants and humans coexist peacefully, felt truly cold in his hands and feet facing this proposal.
"Harm? Sure enough, your heart is still toward mutants. You didn't consider the feelings of humans at all." Ye Nan's voice was a bit gloomy.
"Out-of-control mutants, each one will cause harm. They are like children holding missiles, not knowing how to control missiles at all. Once out of control, they will cause huge harm to the people around them."
"They are the unstable factors of society. They should be regulated, instead of being protected from legal sanctions under the protection of you adults. They should be exposed to the public and accept public supervision."
"You claim to be running around for the peaceful coexistence of humans and mutants, but in fact, you are considering problems from the standpoint of mutants. You have always only cared about mutants and selectively forgot humans."
Ye Nan's voice was impassioned. "When mutants were out of control and hurt humans, have you ever seen a mother crying constantly because her son was frozen into an ice block? Have you ever seen a father crying bitterly because his daughter was burned and disfigured?"
"Have you ever seen the sorrow of the white-haired sending off the black-haired? Have you ever seen a child crying blood and tears because they lost their parents?"
"You saw it, but you chose to protect—protect the children in your eyes who don't know how to control their superpowers. Yes, they are children, but they are also murderers."
"You know very well where the hatred of humans toward mutants comes from, but you are unwilling to face it. You chose to escape because you want to protect your mutants, protect those murderers."
"You teach them day after day, teach them the principles of being a person, teach them to control their abilities. But the sins on their backs have never been washed away."
"Bit by bit, the sins accumulated, forming the deep-seated hatred of
"These hatreds are the true culprits behind humanity's rejection of mutants."
At Ye Nan's words, Professor X slumped into his wheelchair, as if he had lost all his strength.
He understood that what Ye Nan said was the truth; these things were all problems placed before mutants. However, without solving them, no matter how much he protected humanity, he could not wash away the sins.
"You understand, I merely revealed the mutants hidden behind society, while the formation of the opposition wave is the silent accusation of the humans who have been harmed by mutants."...
"But the Mutant Registration Act..."
Before Professor X could finish his sentence, Ye Nan interrupted him. "The Mutant Registration Act is to record all mutants. Perhaps these mutants will endure temporary hostility, but this is humanity's choice. Humans have the right to choose whether their children are in the same school as mutants."
"Professor X, please do not impose your own thoughts onto humanity. Please recognize your own position—are you considering things for humanity, or are you considering things for mutants? Do not use your hypocritical words that make one want to laugh to fool me, or to fool yourself."
Stance determines action. Professor X stood on the side of mutants, striving to build mutants into protectors of humanity, but he forgot whether humanity would actually recognize these so-called protectors.
To humans, mutants are the source of turmoil and the beginning of disaster. Mutants destroy humanity on one hand and descend in the posture of saviors on the other; this so-called protection is as ridiculous as it gets.
Especially Professor X; he believed that by hiding the so-called mutants beneath humanity, humans would forget the pain mutants brought upon them, which is simply an impossible thing.
The reason hatred is etched into the bones is because the hatred has not yet been vented. When humanity's hatred for mutants has nowhere to vent, it will accumulate further, eventually forming an explosive disaster, and at that time, it will be when humanity and mutants break apart completely.
"Am I considering things for humanity, or am I considering things for mutants?" Professor X murmured. He recalled his life, recalled the arguments between himself and Magneto Erik; whether it was what he said or what he did, everything was for the sake of mutants.
"Have you thought it through?" Ye Nan looked at Professor X with a cold sneer.
"Whether it is you or Magneto, you are both my enemies. Humanity will absolutely not become a vassal of mutants, because mutants have always been a part of humanity; they have never been independent."
"I understand." Professor X sighed softly. "You want them, don't you? Come over, I will hand them over to you."
"No need, I have already brought the people; they will do it for me."
As soon as Ye Nan's voice fell, Storm's voice appeared within everyone's line of sight. "You first help Storm and Logan recover their memories; afterward, they will take away the corpse of the Terminator and bury it properly."
"So be it, let her come over; I will help them recover their memories." Professor X surprisingly did not mock Ye Nan's cowardice, but did as Ye Nan said.
Today, he finally understood where his future path lay. He understood his heart and his stance; he did not need to consider things for humanity at all, because everything he did was for the sake of mutants. (This site... your support is my greatest motivation.)
