Chapter 403: The Wizard Lex

~9 min read 1,770 words

Mumble, mumble...

Unknown incantations echoed within the world of ice and snow. Lex extended his pale, withered fingers and pointed them at Superman. A series of grey rays of light, channeled through some unknown medium, coiled around Superman's surface, ready to penetrate his body at any moment.

Lex at this moment had become very different from before. If Lex had previously been a successful man in a suit and tie, then the current Lex had transformed into a wizard hiding in the dark depths, muttering mysterious incantations, ready at any time to strike and curse his enemies in the open.

Withered was Superman's impression; pale was the definition Superman gave to Lex. From just a moment ago until now, Lex seemed to have experienced thousands of years; his entire person had become very aged. He, who was originally human, seemed to have turned into some unknown life form—at least, judging by his appearance, that was the case.

"Tzeentch is an evil god from Chaos; he bestows the power of conspiracy upon all clever people." Lex seemed to be absorbing power from the void, his expression one of extreme comfort.

"Alien?" Superman did not know what an evil god of Chaos was, but since Lex had used the term "from Chaos," it was possible that the other party was an alien.

"Alien? Perhaps. But regardless of who he truly is, he has brought me power." Lex shook his head, his voice relaxed and at ease. "As for what they want, rest assured, I naturally have my own plans for all of this."

"You are bargaining with a tiger." Superman said in a deep voice. As Lex's old rival, he naturally knew what Lex's heart was truly like. But aliens, especially such strange ones—since they had bestowed power, they must have corresponding methods. If things went poorly, it would cause immense losses.

"Rest assured, my brain gives me enough wisdom to deal with those aliens." Lex pointed to his own brain and said, full of confidence.

"The common ailment of geniuses is complacency." Ye Nan, listening to the conversation from afar, immediately understood that Lex had obtained power, and his source of power was Tzeentch, who held the most sinister name among the four Chaos Gods.

The four Chaos Gods originated from the Warhammer world. Legend says they are evil gods from the Chaos realm. As one of the four, Tzeentch uses hope as his source of power.

And hope does not merely refer to the power of hope born from despair; it is also the fantasies and desires of daily life. This evil god is said to be able to foresee the future, using his abilities to map out his plans, treating individual lives as his pawns. He can be said to be the most cunning of the four Chaos Gods.

Lex was trading with such an existence and was still full of confidence that he could control the other party. It must be said, this was extreme self-confidence. Lex himself likely had no idea what Tzeentch's power truly was.

"Legend says scientists, conspirators, and even all intelligent people are Tzeentch's targets. However, logically speaking, the Chaos world should not belong to this universe." Ye Nan muttered to himself, and involuntarily, a hint of anxiety arose in him.

The four Chaos Gods control the authority of the Chaos world, just like the Olympian gods. But unlike the Olympian gods, what they hold is the authority of the entire dimensional universe, not just the authority of a single world.

"Being able to open the barriers between two dimensional universes—this is the power of the four Chaos Gods." Ye Nan shuddered, his body trembling violently. If he remembered correctly, even the Serpent could not open a passage between two dimensional universes, but the four Chaos Gods had done it. This proved they were even more powerful than the Serpent.

"You say that every time, but every time something goes wrong." Superman spoke without hesitation about the things Lex had done in the past. Every time Lex traded with aliens, he was full of confidence, believing he could keep the situation under control, but in reality, it was never like that at all.

In the past, Lex had suffered heavy losses in every trade with aliens. If not for Superman's intervention, Earth would have long since been occupied by those malicious aliens.

"It won't happen this time." Lex, having been called out by Superman, suddenly became angry. "It won't happen this time. I have a sufficiently deep understanding of them; I know what they want to do, and I have long since prepared defenses."

"If you knew they were invading the universe, you wouldn't think that way." Ye Nan thought disdainfully after hearing Lex's words.

The four Chaos Gods are the supreme rulers within the Chaos realm, with countless demons under their command. Although most of these demons cannot leave the Chaos realm, the power derived from them alone is not something Lex can resist. Furthermore, Lex's power itself comes from the four Chaos Gods; using the power of the four Chaos Gods to deal with the four Chaos Gods—no matter how you listen to it, it sounds ridiculous.

"No matter what you say, you will die this time." Lex struck suddenly, and the curse descended upon Superman at a certain frequency. Superman's originally healthy, bronze-colored skin became stained with a hint of greyish-white.

"Your resistance to magic is truly too weak, and my power happens to come from magic, so I can restrain you." Lex said. This was one of the reasons why he chose Tzeentch as his source of power; Superman's resistance to magic was negative, which would make his magic produce even greater effects, even though this so-called magic leaned more towards curses.

"Magic?" Hearing Lex mention magic again and again, Superman couldn't help but think of his former friends. But the magic of those two people was very different from Lex's; their magic leaned more towards direct attacks, while Lex's seemed to belong to the weakening category.

"Yes, it is magic. I obtained knowledge and power from Tzeentch. That is knowledge that does not belong to our planet. It completely subverts humanity's cognition of this world; it is more marvelous than technology." Lex said excitedly: "Their knowledge opened a door for me, a door leading to an unknown realm."

"And now, I am merely utilizing a tiny bit of power from this unknown realm, and it has already made you, the Superman, unable to bear it. It seems my choice was indeed correct."

Lex laughed happily. His magic had produced unexpected results, which was something he hadn't anticipated. Thinking of this Man of Steel trembling under his magic, he felt the incredibility of magic.

"But as a genius, I will master the knowledge of magic at the fastest speed, and then combine magic with technology to form a new kind of technology." Lex said confidently. His confidence came from his genius brain; he had always believed his appearance was meant to change the course of human civilization, just like back then, when the entire city was serving him.

"Your magic is indeed powerful, but..." Superman stood up from the ground, seemingly having recovered quite a bit.

"But what?" Lex asked, muttering incantations in his mouth, a strange magical power circling around him.

This magical power seemed to come from the void, invisible and untouchable, yet everyone present could feel it—clearly and distinctly feeling the existence of this magical power. It was truly marvelous.

"But other people's power is ultimately other people's power." Superman leaped up, slamming a fist towards Lex. It was as if the magical power of ice and snow had been shaken away by him, his speed increasing dramatically.

"You don't understand the power of magic." Lex extended his palm, aiming it at Superman. A black magical power surged out from within, striking Superman and knocking him back.

"I understand your power, but wanting to rely on other people's power to defeat me is simply impossible." Superman slowly climbed up from the ground, the black magical power from Lex still on his body.

"How is it possible? How can you stand up under the pressure of my magical power?" Lex looked at Superman in disbelief. He hurriedly increased the output of his magical power, which was even more powerful than before, instantly forcing Superman to retreat repeatedly. But something that surprised Lex even more happened.

"How could this situation occur?" Lex roared in disbelief. Under his gaze, Superman kept advancing, pushing forward against his magical power.

"Nothing is impossible." Ye Nan, seeing this situation, immediately muttered. A gale might blow a person down instantly, but if a person adapts to the gale, they can move forward against it. And Lex's magical power was like a gale—it was incomparable pressure, but as long as one stood firm, the gale could not blow one down, and the pressure could not crush one.

"However, the enemy of an enemy is a friend. I still need to help Lex." Ye Nan thought to himself, and at the same time shouted loudly, "If a gale cannot crush a tree at once, it will never be able to crush the tree again."

As soon as Ye Nan's voice arrived, it changed the situation on the scene. Lex was never a stupid person. The reason he had appeared so pathetic was entirely because he had only just touched upon magic and didn't understand it at all, which was why he had lost his composure under Superman's strikes. Now, with Ye Nan's hint, he immediately understood the key.

"The reason a gale cannot crush a tree branch is because the branch has adapted to the pressure of the gale. Then, change the frequency of the gale." Lex suddenly raised his hand, moving the magical power to Superman's head. Sure enough, Superman instantly lost his balance and fell to the ground.

Feeling that his teammate was giving advice to the opponent, The Flash suddenly became conflicted. Logically speaking, this kind of betrayal should be despised, but thinking about what Superman had done to him, it seemed understandable for someone to take revenge.

"But I hope you don't continue like this." The Flash cast a warning glance at Ye Nan. He could tolerate Ye Nan's backstabbing twice, but not a third time.

Ye Nan also understood The Flash's meaning. If Lex still failed after his hint, then there was no need to support him anyway. There would be plenty more opportunities to deal with Superman in the future.
