Chapter 594: Finally Meeting Master Yoda

~7 min read 1,314 words

Watching the interstellar warship slowly descend, Ye Nan let out a breath of relief.

The interstellar warship was one of Ye Nan’s important tools, the only reason he could travel between star systems, since his current status was merely an ordinary attendant.

At this moment, Ye Nan lay sprawled in the swamp, his body coated in thick green slime, with centipedes and venomous spiders crawling freely over him.

“Disgusting things.”

Ye Nan cast a glance, and a red super-heat beam shot from his eyes, reducing all the centipedes, spiders, and other venomous creatures on him to ash.

Though these creatures couldn’t harm his steel-and-iron frame, their sheer revulsion made him deeply uneasy—but his entire body was numb, uncontrollable, and he lacked the strength to move.

“I wonder if this whole affair was orchestrated by Master Yoda. How is he doing?” Ye Nan thought.

The lightning just now had bypassed the warship entirely and struck Ye Nan directly, proving this storm was man-made, its purpose clearly to eliminate them all.

But whether it was Master Yoda or not, he couldn’t be certain—he couldn’t be sure this planet housed only one such powerful figure.

“You’re alright.” Superman Clark flew in from afar and landed beside Ye Nan, urgently helping him up.

“No need.” Ye Nan shook his head, stopping Superman’s gesture. “From now on, I’m a prisoner who escaped from your warship—not your emperor. Understood?”

In an instant, Superman Clark understood Ye Nan’s meaning. “Understood.”

How could he not understand? On the last planet, they had already done this. Replicating the same pattern here wasn’t difficult—the only concern was the people aboard the warship.

“Should we eliminate them all?” Superman Clark made a slashing gesture.

Full control would be too difficult—they were people, not machines. One slip, and they’d say the wrong thing. Killing them all was the simplest, most efficient solution.

Ye Nan stared silently at Superman Clark, searching for any sign of change.

Superman Clark’s current behavior differed sharply from his earlier self. Back then, though powerful, he had been soft-hearted and reluctant to act. Now, his heart had grown dark and cruel.

“Could the clone side effects be emerging?” Ye Nan worried.

He didn’t want the clone side effects to appear—because that would mean Superman’s genes had lost all their value, and his own body might also begin to fail.

Superman Clark watched Ye Nan quietly, waiting for his answer. If Ye Nan nodded, he would return immediately and kill them all.

Ye Nan paused, then finally shook his head. “No need. Just take them to the other side of the planet.”

He could be ruthless toward enemies—but toward his own people, he couldn’t bring himself to be so cold.

They might have once been Galactic Empire soldiers, but since they surrendered and Ye Nan accepted them, they were his own. Inclusiveness wasn’t just empty words.

He simply couldn’t kill his own people—but he feared they might slip up, so he decided to send them away.

Master Yoda was merely an ordinary Jedi Knight. Even if his power was great, his body was no different from a normal human’s. Ye Nan believed that if the warship’s crew reached the other side of this planet, Yoda would never find them.

“Is that wise?” Superman Clark hesitated.

“Go.” Ye Nan waved his hand, slowly rising from the mud. “As long as you stay quietly on the other side of Dagobah, nothing will happen.”

“Also, keep scanning outer space. I don’t want you to encounter any other starships. Understood?”

“Understood.”

White mist slowly receded, replaced by silent darkness—the sun’s favor had vanished.

Ye Nan walked through the dense jungle, his body caked in dirt and revolting sludge, a foul stench radiating from him.

He didn’t know if his behavior aboard the warship had been seen by Master Yoda—but he couldn’t reveal his uniqueness, for he felt Yoda was nearby, silently watching him.

“You’re here.”

“Why did you come?”

The moment Ye Nan sensed Yoda’s presence, Yoda’s voice echoed.

“Why shouldn’t I be here?” Ye Nan smiled warmly. “Obi-Wan Kenobi entrusted me to find Master Yoda. Are you Master Yoda?”

Master Yoda was a small green-skinned creature, resembling a mythological goblin, with long ears, a few sparse white hairs on his head, and facial runes proving his great age.

Seeing this Yoda, identical to the description, Ye Nan immediately knew this little creature was the one he sought.

“Master Yoda? I am. What do you want? What is your connection to Obi-Wan Kenobi?” Master Yoda asked.

“I am Ye Nan. I am Obi-Wan Kenobi’s apprentice. I was sent by Obi-Wan Kenobi to bring Luke here, hoping you will teach Luke advanced Force techniques.” Ye Nan replied. His expression grew deeply respectful the moment he uttered Yoda’s name, as if he greatly revered the old master.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi’s apprentice?” Master Yoda tilted his head, studying Ye Nan closely. “How can an apprentice have no Force?”

A Jedi’s apprentice could not be ordinary—the Jedi tradition only passed to those with Force potential. But Yoda sensed no Force in Ye Nan. Two possibilities: either Ye Nan’s Force was so strong it masked his perception, or he had no Force at all.

But if his Force were strong enough to mask it, Yoda would feel only obscurity—not the naked, exposed emptiness he now perceived. That meant only one thing.

“I have no talent to become a Jedi.” Ye Nan smiled awkwardly, then recounted everything that had happened—though heavily edited.

For instance, he claimed he had killed Obi-Wan Kenobi—when in truth, it was Superman Clark who had done it.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi is dead?” Master Yoda’s eyes flickered with sorrow.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was his pupil, raised by his own hands. He had expected Obi-Wan to become a pillar of the Republic, a Jedi upholding justice and peace. Yet he had died.

Worse still, Obi-Wan had not died as foretold.

The prophecy said Obi-Wan would be killed by his own apprentice—Luke’s father—so he could guide Luke to become a true Jedi. But now he had died at the hands of a stranger, utterly deviating from the prophecy.

“Died without meaning.” Master Yoda sighed, trembling slightly as he descended. “Then why are you here? Where is Luke?”

“Luke and I were separated.” Ye Nan told him how he had lured Hancock and the others, allowing Luke to steal the starship.

“You are brave and loyal. Tell me—what happened after that?” Master Yoda praised him briefly, then pressed on.

“I evaded the insectoid creatures, honing my combat skills. I knew I could never possess the Force—but I wouldn’t accept defeat.”

“I don’t know how long it lasted, but I encountered the evil Empire’s forces. Countless ships poured from their warship, carpet-bombing the insects. I seized the chance to sneak aboard their warship, posing as a crew member.”

“I planned to leave the planet on that warship, then find another starship to search for Luke. But they came straight here—so I came to find you.”

“By the way, the climate on this planet is strange. The warship I rode in encountered a thunderstorm—terribly unlucky.”

“But what puzzled me was, the instruments showed no sign of any storm—yet one suddenly appeared. It was highly suspicious.”

Ye Nan cautiously probed Master Yoda, watching his expression for any sign he controlled the lightning—but he was disappointed. Yoda showed only slight surprise.

“So you encountered a thunderstorm?” Master Yoda’s expression matched his words perfectly. “You’ve had terrible luck.”

“Yes, I’ve been unlucky.” Ye Nan grimaced. “If the warship hadn’t stopped just in time, I’d already be dead inside.”

He grimaced further. “And those evil Empire forces—why are they here? I fear they’ve come for you.”

“For me?” Master Yoda shook his head. “Their target isn’t me. I’m just an old man, long in hiding. He won’t even remember me.”

“Come. Since you’re Obi-Wan Kenobi’s apprentice, follow me.” (To be continued.)
