Chapter 605: Defeating Yoda

~7 min read 1,257 words

The blue lightsaber carved countless sword shadows through the air, its overwhelming Force cracking the atmosphere and creating pockets of vacuum.

Only when Master Yoda grew angry did Ye Nan realize, with dread, the gap between Yoda and Obi-Wan.

Though both were Jedi Masters, the Force Obi-Wan wielded and the Force Yoda wielded were incomparable.

“Looks like you manipulated that thunderstorm too,” Ye Nan threw Luke away and stepped back several paces.

Yoda caught Luke, checked him over, confirmed he was unharmed, and finally exhaled in relief.

“Ye Nan, striking now was your greatest mistake.”

“Oh? How so?” Ye Nan smirked, drawing in powerful dark Force through his mental power, shaping it into a sphere.

Black energy surged from all directions, compressed into the sphere—its surface radiated death, destruction, and aggression.

“You’ve mastered the dark Force to this extent?” Yoda’s expression turned grave; he suddenly realized he’d underestimated him.

“Forcefully seizing power is always easier than refining technique,” Ye Nan slowly rose until he hovered at tree height, looking down at Yoda. “Master Yoda, if I hurl this sphere at Luke, will he die?”

“What a cruel, ruthless man you are!” Yoda roared. “Luke is your friend—yet you’d directly target him. Are you even human?”

“My bond with Luke was always false—I only sought to obtain the knowledge you taught him,” Ye Nan gazed coldly downward, his eyes filled with icy indifference.

“You…!” Yoda trembled with rage, speechless, repeating only “base” and “despicable” over and over.

“Are you ready, Master Yoda? Will you take the black sphere yourself—or let Luke die in your place?” Ye Nan sneered. “The sphere’s explosion radius is far beyond what you could escape with Luke. And if you think I can’t sense Force movement to shift him—you’re welcome to try.”

The moment Ye Nan spoke, Yoda’s expression froze; the Force he’d gathered instantly dissipated.

Though Ye Nan claimed he couldn’t sense the Force, he clearly manipulated it. Yoda dared not gamble—he couldn’t tell if Ye Nan lied, and without certainty, he had no confidence.

“Since you’ve decided, let me see what the maximum power of the Force truly is.” Ye Nan flung his palm, launching the black sphere.

“Here it comes.”

Watching the black sphere like a nightmare made flesh, Yoda gritted his teeth, extending both hands toward it.

“Go back!”

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Like threads snapped under crushing weight, the sphere slowed drastically—as if invisible, layered nets were stacking in the air, blocking its path.

“Let’s go.”

Yoda snatched Luke and retreated. He planned to secure Luke first, then deal with this impostor from an alien civilization.

“I haven’t tested your strength yet—how could I let you escape?” Ye Nan thought, two crimson superheat beams shooting from his eyes.

Sensing the danger, Yoda hesitated—the crimson beams swept past him, melting the ground into glass.

“Incredible heat,” Yoda thought.

To melt earth into glass instantly required extreme temperature—proving the terrifying power of these two superheat beams.

Yet Ye Nan never intended to kill Yoda—or even Luke. He had some bond with Luke, and he planned to use Luke to torment the Sith Lord.

Everyone knew Luke was the Sith Lord’s nemesis, the one prophesied to defeat him. As long as Luke lived, the Sith Lord would never rest. If Luke died, the Sith Lord would have no further worries—and why would he risk himself to probe the Cosmic Emperor on Ye Nan’s behalf?

So Luke must live. And Yoda, as Luke’s teacher, played a vital role—he too must be kept alive.

But if they couldn’t withstand Ye Nan’s casual strike, that was their own weakness.

Blocked by Ye Nan’s superheat beams, Yoda missed the optimal moment to escape the black sphere’s range. Combined with Ye Nan redirecting the sphere straight at him, evasion was impossible.

“Damn it—if we can’t dodge, we’ll absorb it!” Yoda shouted, extending his hands as rings of blue light emerged, forming a barrier before the sphere.

Boom!

Blue light met the black sphere—terrible power erupted. The dark Force, seized by Ye Nan’s mental power and brimming with aggression and cruelty, clashed with Yoda’s lifetime of cultivated light Force, canceling each other out.

Blue and black light devoured and transformed each other. On the surface, blue light was weaker—each unit of black Force neutralized consumed two units of blue. But as Yoda continuously poured in more Force, the tide slowly turned.

“I’ve trained for decades—I won’t lose!” Yoda shoved forward, violently rebounding all the dark Force back at Ye Nan.

“So strong?” Ye Nan frowned, firing two superheat beams that struck the gathered Force, shattering it.

The black sphere was formed by Ye Nan forcibly seizing Force—its scale drained every dark Force within fifty kilometers around him.

Though negligible compared to the universe’s total dark Force, it was more than enough to overwhelm Yoda.

He hadn’t expected his power to be rebounded so directly—even if the returning force was no longer spherical.

In truth, Yoda wasn’t as strong as Ye Nan imagined. The sphere had already lost over half its power upon detonation; Yoda merely rebounded what remained.

“Die!”

Yoda launched upward, using the explosion from the clash of superheat beams and dark Force as cover, piercing straight through the blast—even as the explosion wounded him.

But Yoda didn’t care for the damage—he seized this chance to kill Ye Nan, or at least cripple him.

“Clever idea,” Ye Nan murmured in admiration. Poor Yoda thought the explosion’s light and shadow could mask his movement for a surprise attack—but he didn’t realize Ye Nan’s super-vision saw through all obstacles, and had already tracked his motion the moment he moved.

Yet Ye Nan made no visible move—not even a twitch. He merely gathered his strength, preparing for Yoda’s strike.

“Die!” Yoda appeared beside Ye Nan, a faint smile on his face—then froze.

The lightsaber sliced through Ye Nan’s clothing—but nothing more. The moment it touched Ye Nan’s bronze-colored muscle, it was deflected.

“Impossible.”

Yoda stared in shock—but his astonishment was cut short.

Boom!

Ye Nan punched out, striking Yoda’s abdomen, slamming him hard to the ground.

Ye Nan turned his palm upward, watching Yoda, who had crashed into the earth, leaving a small crater. A faint smile appeared. “Master Yoda really is robust—even hitting the ground didn’t kill you.”

“Robust?” Yoda chuckled bitterly, his gaze dimming.

He had lost. He had no strength left to fight. The impact had damaged his entire body—he could no longer move.

“If you want to kill me, do it. But I ask you—for the sake of your past friendship with Luke—spare him.” Yoda spoke with sorrowful resignation.

“Who…?”

In Ye Nan’s perception, a force appeared that shouldn’t exist—immediately jolting him awake.

He was certain this force had not been present before. It had emerged suddenly, in a way Ye Nan couldn’t comprehend.

“Dominion Sonata!”

As the voice sounded, a magnificent melody followed—beautiful musical notes flickered faintly, like a sorrowful beauty singing a tune not of this world.

“Beth.”

Ye Nan spat the name coldly, his body involuntarily stiffening. Time strings stretched from unknown time, binding him completely, immobilizing him.

“We meet again, Ye Nan,” said Beth, appearing before him in the garb of a bard, her harp in hand. “Last time we met was long ago—so long my consciousness was nearly erased.”

“What are you doing here?” Ye Nan growled. He didn’t fear Beth—he knew this Beth was merely a small projection. Her true power was weak, and this version was just a fragment. Even if destroyed, it meant nothing to him. (To be continued.)
