Chapter 113: Penguin and Mr. Ma

For senior high school students, the end of the National College Entrance Examination was a relief.

But for Lu Yu, it actually wasn't that significant.

Even the people around Lu Yu, such as Lao Li and Chen Qiao, didn't even ask how he did on the exam.

After all, in their view, Lu Yu's exam scores really didn't matter.

Today is the third day after the National College Entrance Examination ended.

"Xiao Yu, I have something here, I don't know if you're interested." Lu Yu was lying on the balcony at home, enjoying the sunshine, when he suddenly received Chen Qiao's call.

Recently, Lu Yu has actually been quite busy: first the release of Legend, then immediately the firewall issues, and then the National College Entrance Examination.

With great difficulty, things have now settled down, so Lu Yu naturally ought to rest for a while.

"Oh? What happened?" Lu Yu's interest was instantly piqued; after resting those few days, he was actually… a bit bored.

"It's like this: Mr. Ma found me and wants me to invest in them."

"You should know qicq, right?"

"This software was created by Mr. Ma, and they're now running into some trouble……"

Chen Qiao began to explain the circumstances.

Mr. Ma? qicq?

Lu Yu's eyes lit up immediately.

If few people know qicq, what about Penguin?

Yes!

qicq is Penguin's predecessor!

Lu Yu carefully recalled Mr. Ma's life story.

He remembered that Mr. Ma had run into trouble around this time.

Because qicq had snatched away too many of ICQ's customers, the other party sued Mr. Ma.

And then, as qicq's clientele kept growing, Mr. Ma no longer had enough money or strength to operate the software.

This plunged Mr. Ma into an absolute predicament.

Mr. Ma even considered selling Penguin for a few hundred thousand!

At that point, Mr. Ma found Chen Qiao, which was essentially finding Lu Yu.

People nowadays still don't know what Penguin stands for, nor what achievements Mr. Ma will make in the future, but Lu Yu does!

"Xiao Yu, are you still there?" At that moment, Chen Qiao suddenly raised his voice.

Lu Yu then came to his senses and said, "Uncle Chen, I'm here."

Before Chen Qiao could continue speaking, Lu Yu interjected, "When will Mr. Ma arrive?"

"This afternoon." Chen Qiao replied.

"Okay, I'll go this afternoon." Lu Yu said, exchanged a few more words with Chen Qiao, then hung up.

Then……

Lu Yu's face broke into a big smile.

As for Penguin, Lu Yu actually didn't care too much about it.

With the resources Lu Yu currently has, creating a Penguin, or even better software, is actually quite simple.

Even more, if Lu Yu wants, he can achieve even more!

What truly makes Lu Yu happy is being able to meet Mr. Ma.

He is an idol in the hearts of countless people in Huaxia!

Now Lu Yu can not only meet Mr. Ma, but might even… make Mr. Ma his own!

……

Grand, after Chen Qiao hung up the phone, only then did he feel something strange.

Chen Qiao called Lu Yu, naturally hoping Lu Yu would come over to take a look.

But Chen Qiao seemingly hadn't yet mentioned anything that would interest Lu Yu.

In Chen Qiao's view, someone like Lu Yu, a tech expert, would definitely be interested in technology.

So, Chen Qiao specifically had Mr. Ma bring his own technical team along.

This could also be considered a mutual technical exchange.

But he didn't say anything at all—how did Lu Yu end up agreeing?

Chen Qiao couldn't help shaking his head, and didn't say much more.

……

In the afternoon, Lu Yu arrived early at Grand.

Originally, Chen Qiao and Mr. Ma had agreed to meet at three in the afternoon, and he thought Lu Yu wouldn't arrive until after three.

"Xiao Yu, how did you come so early?" Chen Qiao couldn't help asking.

"One should still show sufficient respect to Mr. Ma." Lu Yu said with a smile.

Chen Qiao was a bit dazed.

Mr. Ma will naturally become a very formidable name in the future, but for now……

Setting aside other matters, Grand, having released Legend, is already the industry's leading giant.

Just look—over the past month or so, how blazing hot have Legend's sales been?

It can already be described as crazy!

Nowadays, if someone goes to an internet cafe, they'll find everyone playing Legend.

If there's any exception, it's only because that person is just learning to play Legend.

This even became a problem that gave Chen Qiao a headache.

Because many students skip class to go to black internet cafes to play Legend.

Many parents and teachers have already been reporting this problem.

Right, Legend indeed doesn't involve much micro‑spending, but don't forget that this is an era of online games that use point cards.

The so‑called point card means that when a character reaches a certain level, one must purchase a certain item to continue playing.

Given this, with the huge player base, Legend's profits can absolutely be described as abundant.

So, Chen Qiao is indeed far wealthier than Mr. Ma was when he first started.

This is also why Mr. Ma sought out Chen Qiao.

In the original world's progression, Chen Qiao's situation is actually not much better than Mr. Ma's.

But because of Lu Yu's appearance……

A single butterfly flapping its wings on the far side of the ocean could possibly trigger a tsunami.

What's more, this world has gained Lu Yu's appearance.

……

Mr. Ma arrived, and he also brought his team.

At this moment, inside Chen Qiao's office.

Lu Yu watched with interest as Mr. Ma and the others looked on.

These few people are the core figures of a certain Teng.

In the future, wanting to meet these few people is almost as difficult as climbing to heaven.

At this time, Mr. Ma had not yet achieved fame or success; coming here was more for the company's development, so naturally he lacked the aura he would later have.

Being stared at by Lu Yu at this moment even gave him a slight feeling of shyness.

"Mr. Ma, everyone, please sit." Fortunately, Chen Qiao spoke up at this moment, inviting everyone to sit down.

"This is Lu Yu, the technical core of our Grand."

"Right, you should have heard of Plants vs. Zombies and Legend, right?"

"These two games were made under Lu Yu's leadership."

Chen Qiao introduced Lu Yu to everyone.

Without a doubt, Mr. Ma and the others all showed looks of shock on their faces.

Having just seen Lu Yu appear in this setting, they knew his identity was not simple.

But they never expected…… that Lu Yu's non‑simple identity was not because of Chen Qiao, but because of himself!

Then, Mr. Ma and the others' gazes toward Lu Yu gained a hint of envy.

If they had created Plants vs. Zombies or Legend, would they still need to run around for the company's operations now?

Seeing this scene, Lu Yu felt a bit like laughing.

Who would have thought that the esteemed Mr. Ma would actually show an envious expression toward this little kid?

Lu Yu, to some extent, still experiences bursts of vanity.
