Chapter 262: Sunk Cost

This post didn't cause much of a stir.

But it can be certain that nobody refuted it.

Probably… most netizens agreed with the original poster's view.

They didn't comment perhaps because they felt indebted to Mutual, so… they felt guilty and dared not comment.

When he saw this post, Bruce was completely dazed.

Then… Bruce didn't get angry this time.

He slumped in the office, from noon until night.

Only then did Bruce get up from his seat, walk to the window, and look at the outside scenery.

The downtown of Mo Du is always this beautiful at night, truly an international first-tier metropolis.

But Bruce knew that none of this belonged to him anymore.

He lost, utterly and completely lost.

When did all this start?

Has Mutual's popularity recently dropped? Is it because the activities run by Hidden Dragon Technology didn't bring Mutual enough appeal?

Or did it start when Lu Yu created the little game Space Farm?

Bruce recalled the events that had happened at Hidden Dragon Technology and Penguin over this period.

Finally, Bruce came to a conclusion.

His defeat should have been sealed the moment he entered Huaxia.

Because at that time, Penguin was already the undisputed leading social software in Huaxia.

Or more accurately, Penguin had Lu Yu behind it.

Yes, Bruce not only admitted his loss this time, but also admitted that he was inferior to Lu Yu.

Bruce is a person with strong self-esteem, which was built up through repeated successes.

But he still needed to admit that he was inferior to Lu Yu.

How could he not admit that!

Lu Yu's understanding of games, of the market, of grasping people's hearts… each point isn't it far superior to Bruce's?

"Ah… I shouldn't have come to Huaxia."

Finally, Bruce sighed and said that.

…

Mi Guo, inside a certain club.

"What on earth is going on?"

"I gave Bruce so many resources, why is Penguin's popularity now higher than Mutual's?"

Dan Ding's complexion was grim.

To facilitate Bruce's trip to Huaxia this time, he almost mobilized all the forces he could.

Not to mention funds, he also persuaded the Game Alliance and even reached an agreement with FaceBook.

Mutual's basic template came from FaceBook.

Otherwise, do you really think developing a popular social app is that simple?

And for this matter, Dan Ding really paid a lot.

But!

Looking at the current situation, nothing has even come close to the initial estimates!

"Immediately contact Bruce, I want him to give me an explanation." Dan Ding roared at his subordinates.

Then, at that moment, Bruce's phone rang.

He originally didn't want to answer, but now his mind was only on Mutual's submitted results.

But by a strange twist of fate, Dan Ding still picked up the phone and happened to see the caller ID.

It was Bruce's call!

Dan Ding immediately answered.

At that moment, Dan Ding's mood improved a bit; Bruce was still sensible and knew how to report the situation to him.

But… after the call connected, after hearing Bruce's first words, Dan Ding was completely dazed.

He even doubted his own ears, wondering if he was dreaming.

Dan Ding turned into a puppet, standing frozen in place, maintaining a stunned expression.

Even… his phone fell to the ground, yet he remained unmoved.

Because, after Bruce answered the call, he said this.

"Dan Ding, sorry, I can't continue as chairman of Hidden Dragon Technology; I'll return to Mi Guo tomorrow, goodbye."

It was a simple sentence, but…

"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!"

Dan Ding went mad, smashing anything he could see in front of him.

His roaring never ceased.

By the time he was exhausted, Dan Ding couldn't even manage to sit down.

He looked at the already chaotic private room, then sank into silence.

Bruce… actually wants to come back!

That is to say, Bruce admitted his defeat and felt he could not recover!

So… this time, the victorious side is still Lu Yu!

Lu Yu, Lu Yu, Lu Yu!

This brat, why does he have such strong power, defeating him time and again?

Dan Ding's fury almost burned him to ashes.

He even thought of immediately picking up a gun and sending a bullet straight into Lu Yu's head.

But obviously, this is just an imagination, cannot become reality.

……

Grand, Lu Yu's Office.

"Bruce returned to Mi Guo? Even resigned from the position of Executive CEO?" Hearing the news from Chen Qiao, Lu Yu was somewhat shocked.

As for the current situation, Mutual's situation indeed cannot be compared to Penguin's, but……

Mutual remains Huaxia's second-largest social software, possessing great value.

One could say that Hidden Dragon Technology's investment is indeed huge, but at least Mutual's current market value is worth such investment.

Bruce is definitely not a failure.

But Bruce still left Huaxia?

"Yes, Bruce has already left."

"I heard that Hidden Dragon Technology is currently evaluating its market value, preparing to sell."

Chen Qiao nodded heavily and then dropped another explosive piece of news.

What does this indicate?

Bruce admitted defeat!

Even……

Could this be a sign that Dan Ding is giving up on dealing with me?

Lu Yu couldn't help thinking that.

These days, Mr. Qin has been busy with factory construction, but he also had his friends inquire about news for Lu Yu.

Lu Yu also finally knew that the person who had always wanted to deal with him was Dan Ding.

So……

Now, does Lu Yu have no enemies left?

Lu Yu couldn't help shaking his head.

There is a term called sunk cost.

To be honest, Lu Yu and Dan Ding actually don't have any deep hatred.

Otherwise, Dan Ding wouldn't have used only such minor means against Lu Yu at the start.

But as the two continually clashed, Dan Ding's investment in Lu Yu grew larger and larger.

Time, money, energy……

And after investing so much, Dan Ding still couldn't see the desired result, so……

What will he do?

Even if he knows that continuing to invest will only result in losses, he definitely won't let go.

Because if Dan Ding now lets go, wouldn't that mean all his previous efforts were wasted?

So…… Lu Yu feels that Dan Ding will definitely make a move.

But it definitely won't be now.

This time Bruce's admission of defeat will definitely be a heavy blow to Dan Ding,
