Chapter 1076: Luo Steward, Utterly Arrogant
Three days passed.
Inside the formation, Huang Yang sat on the ground, unable to solve the formation before him; mist continually shrouded everything, and he could see nothing.
There was no sign of Huang Yan; if not for the Flame Yang Bone constantly emitting light, dispelling the mist around him, he might have been worse off, his true qi depleted by one-fifth—this is the Flame Yang Bone's counteracting effect on the mist; otherwise, it could have been even more dire.
His essence, energy, and spirit were all devoured, especially his soul—his soul power was consumed and drawn away.
His body strained to endure and resist; Huang Yang himself had not yet been seen, his strength weakened, and if this continued he might be completely absorbed by the formation—fortunately, the formation was not attacking him, or rather, he had not acted rashly or touched other formations.
This formation was a hybrid, many formations combined; the one he was in was merely a simple trapping and mist formation, the killing formation untouched—a fortunate stroke amidst misfortune.
This was not what Huang Yang wanted; before entering the Mangshan Mountain Range, he had a premonition of encountering demonic beasts and fighting them, but he never imagined he would face such a situation, unable to break free.
"This formation is too advanced for me to solve."
"That brat Huang Yan actually survived a year inside this formation—I don't know how he did it."
"Could there be someone else inside the formation? Is he protecting Huang Yan?"
There being a formation inside the Mangshan Mountain Range is itself absurd; Huang Yang saw it with his own eyes and found it unbelievable.
"If I don't find a way to break through the formation, my true qi will be drained, and then I'll be a lamb for the slaughter."
Huang Yang certainly did not want to become fish on a chopping block, at anyone's mercy.
All he wanted was… to kill Huang Yan, then… leave the Mangshan Mountain Range, and finish his business before those demonic beasts even reacted.
But Huang Yan did not appear; he knew Huang Yan must have sensed his arrival—the Flame Yang Bone could sense him, and Huang Yan could sense the bone as well, since it was part of his body and he was intimately familiar with it.
"Mother must be worried by now; I've been out long enough this time."
Huang Yang had tried; no signal could be sent out—the formation blocked everything.
Without Qinglong Daoren's permission, telling others was unlikely.
Qinglong Daoren did not want to expose the existence of this place.
However long he could keep it hidden would be how long; he also knew this place's existence might attract some demonic beasts' attention.
After all, several waves of humans had entered and never returned.
How could one not suspect?
The Huang Family.
Luo Feifei was anxious, asking worriedly, "Has Yang'er returned?"
The Luo family steward shook his head: "Miss, the young master hasn't come back yet."
"It's been days with no news, not even a word from Yang'er—could something have happened to him?"
Luo Feifei couldn't help but think that if her son came to harm, she might find it hard to absolve herself.
Huang Yang must not come to harm; he is her reliance—her only son, and if he died, it would truly be over.
"Miss, the young master's soul tablet is intact; he's fine, possibly just trapped."
The Luo family steward offered his guess: Huang Yang has a soul tablet kept within the Huang Family, deliberately left by Luo Feifei as a precaution.
She could know her son's condition at any time, and she certainly did not want him to die.
The Luo family steward was in charge of watching the soul tablet; he checked it every day, and he had just finished looking and returned.
"Trapped?" Luo Feifei frowned, saying, "With Yang'er's ability, he shouldn't be caught in an ordinary formation; he also knows a bit about formations, and there's been no fighting in the Mangshan Mountain Range—what about Yang'er?"
"Steward, take some people to the Mangshan Mountain Range, retrace Yang'er's path, and be sure to find him."
"Yang'er must not come to harm; you know his importance, steward—if you find that little bastard, spare no expense to kill him."
Luo Feifei constantly thought of her son, yet she did not forget Huang Yan.
"Miss, with such a major mobilization, what about the Family Head?"
The Luo family steward asked worriedly, "This is the Huang Family, not our Luo Family."
"If something goes wrong, it'll be troublesome."
"Moreover, sending people out will surely draw Huang Longji's attention, and they'll likely be stopped."
"Don't worry about him; I'll keep him occupied—you can sneak people out."
"Yes, Miss."
The Luo family steward received the order and secretly led people away.
Huang Longji still found out and came to question Luo Feifei.
"What exactly are you doing? Sending so many people—where to and for what?"
"Is it because Yan'er isn't dead yet, and you've sent people to kill him?"
Huang Longji stared at Luo Feifei and confronted her directly.
Luo Feifei immediately smiled and said, "Husband, you're overthinking; I sent the steward out to find some things—Yang'er has reached a critical point in his cultivation and needs some spiritual herbs, and I happen to know a herb has matured in the Mangshan Mountain Range, so I sent him specially to gather it."
"Really?" Huang Longji stared at his wife, disbelieving her.
"Of course it's true." Luo Feifei helped Huang Longji sit down, walked behind him, and massaged his shoulders.
"Husband, Huang Yan is already dead; you needn't keep worrying about him—this secret you must help me guard, and you must not let Father know."
Huang Longji gave a bitter smile and casually asked, "And Yang'er?"
Luo Feifei's motion paused; she knew this husband likely sensed something and had come specially to question her.
"Yang'er is in closed-door cultivation."
"Really?"
"It's naturally true; Yang'er is at a crucial stage, husband, you must not disturb him." Luo Feifei said nervously.
"I understand."
Huang Longji rose, turned around, and stared at Luo Feifei.
"I don't like being deceived; this time I believe you, but if I discover you've lied to me—hmph."
Having said that, Huang Longji turned and left.
Luo Feifei was left standing there, Luo Feifei stared at his back, squinting and said: "Husband, what does it matter if you know? When Huang Yan dies, Yang'er returns, give Yang'er a few more years, the Huang Family will be ours mother and son, as for you and your father, hum."
"It's best not to offend me; otherwise, hum."
One day later.
Inside the Mangshan Mountain Range.
The group led by Steward Luo appeared there; he brought a group of people to come, following Huang Yang's aura.
"Steward, the young master is just ahead, not far; I can smell his scent."
"Good."
Steward Luo exclaimed excitedly, patting that guard's shoulder; this is the talent he specially brought along, top-notch at finding people.
The group proceeded, after several hours they encountered several demonic beasts, and a few people died.
They arrived outside Longshe Shan, the mist shrouding their view; the guard ahead said, "Steward, the young master is inside the mist."
"This mist is a formation mist, Steward; should we go in?"
Steward Luo stared at that patch of mist, not taking it to heart, arrogantly saying: "A mere mist cannot block my steps; we must find the young master early, it's just a trifling formation, it cannot stop this steward; let's go in."
"Yes, steward."
The group entered the formation without any hesitation.
