Chapter 164: Steel Superman Launches!

~6 min read 1,018 words

Hahaha! Success! We sank one!

Inside the King Insect-class Mothership, Commander Ka La Fa felt the surge generated when the Federal Destroyer's energy core exploded, and sent out a thought of ecstatic joy.

Although the cost was losing nearly a hundred of our own warships, this result at least allowed it to regain a shred of face.

"Did you see that? These bugs aren't invincible!"

It immediately transmitted this "victory" news to the entire fleet, attempting to raise morale that had hit rock bottom.

"Their warships ultimately have limits! As long as we keep attacking, victory will ultimately belong to the great Moyun Civilization!"

"All units, continue the saturation attack tactic! I want you to chew up their fleet, ship by ship!"

Ka La Fa's thoughts were filled with cruelty and brutality.

In its view, war was merely a simple numbers game.

Trade a hundred warships for one of theirs.

With five thousand, we could exchange for fifty of theirs.

With four hundred thousand, we could completely wipe from the universe the enemy fleet of three thousand warships!

Even if our fleet suffers heavy losses in the end, as long as we complete the Empire's assigned mission to purge this damned civilization, everything is worth it.

However, its ecstatic thought lasted less than ten seconds.

The next second, the subordinate commander in charge of monitoring the battlefield sent over a thought filled with horror and bewilderment.

"Commander! The situation…… the situation is wrong!"

"What's wrong?" Ka La Fa replied impatiently, "Did those bugs pull another trick?"

"No…… not……"

That subordinate commander's thought carried an obvious tremor.

"That…… that warship we sank, inside its wreckage…… there are life signals! Very strong life signals!"

"What?!"

Ka La Fa's huge brain shuddered violently, incredulously focusing its perception onto that region of space where the explosion had just occurred.

All that could be seen was within the destroyer's shattered, burning wreckage.

Tiny figures hovered there, motionless.

Some wore steel armor, the armor bearing many scars left by the explosions.

Some unlucky ones had their armor blown apart beyond use, their bodies directly exposed to the void of space.

They looked miserable, but in fact they had suffered no injury.

Their total number was eight hundred, which is also the standard complement of a destroyer.

"How…… how…… how is this possible?!"

Ka La Fa's consciousness surged like a towering wave.

It could not comprehend what it was seeing.

The warships were blown apart, so why are the people inside still alive?

What is that? Power armor?

Why can some lowly carbon-based organisms survive in vacuum without armor?

Countless question marks spun wildly in its mind, nearly causing its massive brain to crash.

This completely exceeded its cognition!

In the Moyun Civilization's history of conquest, they have destroyed many technological civilizations.

Once those civilizations' intelligent life lost the protection of their warships,

in space they were no different from fragile bugs, their lives instantly snatched by vacuum and radiation.

But these humans before its eyes overturned its common sense.

"They…… they are not ordinary beings!"

Ka La Fa finally arrived at a conclusion that filled it with dread.

"These bugs, each one, is an individual possessing extraordinary power!"

This discovery, compared to just finding the Federal Destroyer's shields sturdy, filled it with even greater fear.

Sturdy warships can be piled up by numbers.

But what does an army composed of extraordinary individuals signify?

It means conventional war logic will completely fail here!

"They must not be allowed to live!"

Ka-La Fa immediately realized the gravity of the problem.

If these soldiers with individual combat power were allowed to regroup, or be rescued by other Federal warships,

then the victory I just gained by trading a hundred warships would become meaningless!

"All units, take note! Immediately dispatch the Ripper bio-mechs to clear out those people."

It issued the new order.

"Remember! Not a single one left! Tear those living bugs into pieces for me!"

"Yes!"

As the order was issued, among the Moyun Warships besieging the destroyer, several huge, centipede-like warships had their abdominal shells swiftly open.

Immediately after, creatures about ten meters long, resembling a hybrid of mantis and alien, were launched from their interiors.

These creatures are the Moyun Civilization's "Ripper" bio-mechs.

They possess sharp bone blades, sturdy carapaces, and the ability to move nimbly in space.

They are ground troops specially employed by the Moyun Civilization for landing operations and clearing survivors.

Tens of thousands of "Rippers", flapping their biological force-field wings as thin as cicada wings on their backs, turned into streams of black lightning, charging at the eight hundred surviving Federal soldiers.

In their eyes, these humans who had lost the protection of their warships were lambs awaiting slaughter.

They would enjoy a feast of massacre.

And amidst the wreckage of that destroyer.

The surviving captain Wang Yu, looking at those ferocious monsters lunging at him, showed no trace of fear.

He merely wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, then, via short-range telepathic communication, issued a calm command to his subordinates.

"Brothers, our warship is gone."

"But we are still alive!"

"Now let this bunch of brainless scum see exactly how our Human Federal soldiers fight!"

He reached out and seized with an empty hand a fragment of warship armor floating nearby, as large as half a truck.

"Everyone! Form the Three Talents Army Formation! Prepare for battle!"

"Yes!"

The eight hundred soldiers quickly formed a battle formation in space.

Their telekinetic power instantly linked together, forming a larger combined shield that radiated golden light.

Everyone grabbed various kinds of "weapons" from the nearby wreckage.

There were broken steel beams, shattered gun barrels, and sharp armor plates.

Under the empowerment of telekinesis, these scrap metals would all become the deadliest killing tools.

Watching the approaching bio-mechanical armor, Wang Yu's eyes blazed with fierce battle fire.

"For the Federal!"

He roared angrily and hurled the huge armor plate in his hand with great force.

That armor plate, accelerated by telekinesis, like a shell fired from a gun, spun and whistled, hurtling toward the "Ripper" charging at the front.
