Chapter 116: Qu's extreme makeover of Charlie's brother — the miracle of evolution

~12 min read 2,327 words

Thick, fleshy tentacles clenched tightly around Charlie's throat, suspending him half in the air.

Charlie kicked his legs wildly; his eyes, once full of intelligent light, now held only utter bewilderment.

【You who claim to be the miracle of evolution?】

Qu's thought wave detonated directly in Charlie's mind,

devoid of any emotion,

only lofty mockery.

【You look down on the humans who created you, deeming them lowly creatures.】

【Very good.】

【Now, as the true pinnacle of evolution, I will personally turn you, this monkey, into a genuine miracle.】

"No! Friend! Let me go!"

Charlie let out a shrill cry,

its hands desperately scraping at the tentacles around its neck,

its formerly neat fur smeared with slime,

"You can't do this!"

"I closed the passage; I saved you!"

"We are equal!"

【Equality?】

【There has never been equality in the universe, only predators and prey.】

【You pulled the network cable, severing the deities' passage.】

【I truly ought to thank you, for you locked yourself inside the safe.】

Qu's massive body split open in several gaps, dense rows of gene-injection needles protruding, thrusting straight at Charlie's face.

Charlie finally realized what foolish thing he had done.

He trembled as he turned his head,

and howled hysterically at the canopy hanging in midair:

"Open! Canopy! Quickly open the spacetime gate!"

The face that had once arrogantly declared war on all-world civilizations twisted completely, saliva flying:

"Ultraman! Ultraman Ace! Aren't you the one who loves protecting Earth most!"

"Sevan! You guardians of the Land of Light, come save me! I was wrong!"

"I acknowledge humanity's greatness! Let me out!"

The canopy hung coldly above.

A line of blood-red characters appeared, devoid of emotion.

【System notice: Option B confirmed, the spacetime gate permanently closed, cannot be altered.】

"No——!"

Charlie's mental defenses collapsed completely.

His former sense of superiority, arrogance, and invincibility shattered into dust before these eight characters.

He stared at the approaching needles and let out the most miserable wail of his life.

Pfft.

Hundreds of needles pierced Charlie's body simultaneously.

The sound of bones shattering was especially clear in the night wind.

Charlie's body began to contract violently, his limbs melting, his black fur falling out in patches.

The upright walking structure he prided himself on collapsed.

His throat dissolved; the vocal cords that once produced clear human speech turned into a repulsive rasp.

【The miracle is complete.】

Qu emitted a satisfied thought wave.

On the ground,

the once arrogant "New Humanity Deity,"

now had become a half-meter-long maggot, its whole body a sickly pallid hue.

It writhed painfully in the foul-smelling slime.

【From today on, your diet consists of only one thing.】

Qu tossed down a lump of excrement, emitting a mocking thought.

【Eat, miracle.】

The maggot Charlie let out a despairing whimper; its consciousness remained fully awake, even retaining its original memories.

Yet its body moved uncontrollably toward that mass of filth, opening a round mouth bristling with backward-facing spines, and began gulping it down in large mouthfuls.

Humiliation, nausea, despair.

Every second it keenly felt the anguish of plunging into the abyss, yet it could not even commit suicide.

Charlie's brother,

the invincible leader of the ALA,

now his knees gave way and he fell heavily to kneel on the iron framework atop the tower.

He watched his own biological brother being transformed into a feces‑eating maggot, and he was so frightened he lost control of his bladder.

Yellow liquid streamed down the torn legs of his suit pants.

Qu's countless compound eyes swiveled, locking onto the still-trembling half-beast.

【Your turn, animal supremacist.】

Qu's tentacle whipped down, slamming Charlie's younger brother hard onto the ground.

「Spare my life! Great being, spare my life! 」

Charlie's younger brother kowtowed desperately:

「I'll obey anything you say! 」

「I can help you manage the remaining humans! I'm very useful! 」

【You bunch of insects, constantly preaching animal supremacy, believing all things should return to their primal instincts.】

Qu coldly dissected his soul.

【Then I'll grant you that.】

【Strip away those filthy, human parts of your genes.】

Charlie's younger brother's pupils contracted sharply.

「No! Don't take that away! 」

He suddenly understood what Qu was about to do—a punishment more terrifying than death.

However, Qu's gene-extraction sting had already mercilessly pierced his spine.

A kind of excruciating pain, like silk being pulled from a cocoon, swept through his body.

Charlie's younger brother felt his brain being forcibly downgraded.

Those complex computational logics, those reflections on philosophy and power, those peaks of intelligence granted by humanity, were receding like a tide.

In their place came pure bestiality, chaos, and hunger.

「Aaaah! My brain! 」

He horrifiedly discovered he could not even form a complete sentence.

Only now did he truly realize.

He and his older brother had been able to overturn clouds and rain on this planet, driving humanity to the brink,

not because of any damned 'evolution',

but because of the half-human genes in their bodies!

It was humanity's noble genes,

granting them the ability to think,

granting them the wisdom to use conspiracies and weapons!

Having lost the human part, he is nothing!

「Give it back……give it……」

Charlie's younger brother lay on the ground,

its tears and snot smeared across its face as it pleaded intermittently,

「Human……noble……I still want to be human……」

【Mongrel.】

Qu's mock struck straight at the soul.

【Your brothers' intellect, thought, everything that forms the basis of your rule over this planet—all comes from the human genes you despise most.】

【As a result, you not only fail to be grateful, but dare to dream of overthrowing the Creator?】

【Truly the biggest joke in the universe.】

【Now, return to where you belong.】

The last trace of human reason was stripped away.

Charlie's younger brother's stature quickly became hunched, the slyness in his eyes replaced by dullness.

He became a completely ordinary chimpanzee that knows only instinctive howling and chest-beating.

He grabbed a nearby steel rebar,

put it in his mouth and bit twice, finding he couldn't bite through,

so he angrily threw it down,

then let out a meaningless roar at Qu.

After dealing with the leader, Qu's massive meat nest began to writhe violently.

Countless tiny pores opened on its surface.

Buzz——

A black cloud of flying insects swarmed out.

These were miniature gene-modifiers tuned by Qu,

they blanketed Tokyo's night sky like dark clouds,

then turned into countless black lines,

accurately diving toward every ALA-badge-wearing member in the city below.

「Help! 」

「What is this! 」

「President! Charlie God! Save us! 」

On the streets below,

those ALA thugs who, a second ago, were still waving torches and slaughtering human survivors,

now plunged into utter panic.

Flying insects attached to the back of their necks.

The sound of bone reshaping echoed continuously in every corner of the city.

【Since you worship those two hybrid apes so much, thinking animals are superior to humans, then you all might as well become apes.】

Qu's broadcast spread across the entire ruin.

"No! I was wrong! I'm sorry to humanity!"

An ALA official who had just personally burned his compatriots to death, looking at his hands that had grown black fur,

He finally broke down and sobbed,

"I was deceived! Sorry!"

"I will never protect animals again! I want to be human, I want to be human!!"

Apologies and cries of grief rang out in unison.

But the train of evolution never sells regret medicine.

In just a few minutes, tens of thousands of ALA members all degenerated.

The streets were filled with black chimpanzees that had lost their reason,

They looked around at the modern buildings, at a loss,

began tearing at each other and scavenging for food scraps on the ground.

A mob army that had once destroyed human civilization turned into a massive wildlife park.

The image on the sky screen froze completely.

The once almighty new humanity deity turned into a pale maggot writhing in excrement.

He retained all of his human consciousness, but could only gulp down filth under the drive of hunger.

The entire city echoed with the meaningless howls of apes.

Those were former members of the Animal Protection Association; they got what they wished for, completely shedding all traces of humanity.

After the myriad realms experienced a brief silence, they suddenly erupted with a clamor like a tsunami.

Land of Light, headquarters of the Universal Guard.

The flashing red alarm light gradually subsided.

The atmosphere in the hall underwent a dramatic rollercoaster-like shift.

Jack Ultraman gazed at the light screen, arms crossed over his chest, brow furrowed.

"Qu's traces have appeared in this universe, and it is voraciously consuming lifeforms."

"Should we mobilize and launch a punitive expedition?"

No one responded around them.

Ace Ultraman took a deep breath, his right hand slashing forward; the blade of high-danger energy condensed at his fingertips instantly vanished.

He turned and strode to the long table, slamming his palm onto the alloy surface.

"A punitive expedition? I'd like to go on one too."

Ace's tone no longer held killing intent, but instead carried an undisguisable sense of exhilaration,

"But look what that stupid ape has done!"

"He personally pressed the non-intervention button, welding the spacetime gate shut from within!"

"That was his own choice."

Ace braced his hands on the table, watching the writhing maggot in the sky screen.

"It's not that I don't want to save him—the door is closed, the coordinates hidden—who could manage it?"

"The Land of Light will not forcibly break the crystal wall of a sealed universe."

Ultraman Seven silently returned the shuriken to his head.

He turned away, his back to the screen, his shoulders trembling imperceptibly.

"Ace is right."

Ultraman Seven's voice was calm, without ripple,

"We respect the 'supreme will' of that universe's natives."

"Charlie, acting as an agent, made a choice; we have no right to interfere."

Ultraman Father stood on the platform, hands clasped behind his back.

He looked at the warriors in the hall, who had always hated evil intensely, and shook his head.

Ultraman Father saw clearly,

these Ultraman brothers, who on ordinary days would rush to fight any monster that harmed people,

at this moment, not a single one proposed a plan to forcibly break space to rescue people.

Even if Qu truly is an extremely dangerous interstellar predator.

Looking at Charlie, that hypocrite who spouts righteous morality while gaining a sense of superiority by betraying his own kind, ending up like this.

Even the Ultraman warriors who embody absolute light felt a rise of indescribable relief in their hearts.

This was a foul breath that had long been stuck in the chests of the righteous of myriad realms, finally exhaled.

At the same time,

Stellar Human Federation,

Fourth Fleet flagship.

On the bridge of the Fearless Glory, Grand Marshal Sidney leaned back in his chair.

She watched the screen as Qu wantonly built incubation nests, a chill flickering at the corner of her eyes.

"Cancel the star annihilation cannon's charge. All fleets hold position."

The adjutant immediately stood at attention: "Marshal, the Qu swarm is expanding in that universe—should we just ignore it?"

"Manage? That hybrid ape chose the sealed space itself; we can only choose to respect its fate."

Sidney picked up the metal cup beside him, tilted his head back, and downed the crimson liquor in one gulp.

Pa.

The cup slammed heavily onto the control panel.

A grin of extreme excitement spread across Sidney's face, the kind of cruelty unique to those who have long hunted extraterrestrial beings.

"So satisfying."

Sidney stared at the maggot-worm Charlie on the screen, not hiding his inner pleasure.

The adjutant was somewhat surprised.

The marshal had always intensely despised aliens, especially Qu, those monsters that remodel humanity.

Sidney noticed the adjutant's doubt and pointed at the screen:

"Qu are pure extraterrestrial predators. They eat people and remodel them—that's the survival competition between species."

"Upon encountering Qu, I will only order to open fire and blast it to pieces."

She stood up, her military boots making a crisp sound on the deck.

"But Charlie is different."

Sidney's voice was ice‑cold and piercing: "This hybrid eats human food, uses human‑made civilization, and enjoys the protection of human society's rules."

"Turning away, he began to despise human genes, calling humanity a cancer, and even wanted to join extraterrestrial monsters to slaughter his benefactors."

Sidney placed both hands on the railing, looking down upon the entire fleet's personnel.

"What's disgusting about Qu is its flesh; what's disgusting about Charlie is his soul."

"Seeing this sort of pseudo‑saint who lifts his bowl to eat, then puts it down to curse his mother, being trampled into a cesspit by the master he himself invited—I will only feel heart‑satisfied."

The grand marshal turned his head and gave the order into the communicator:

"Cut the footage of the Darwin incident in the universe and play it on loop throughout the federation."

"Tell all citizens that this is the fate of those who betray human bloodlines and harbor unrealistic fantasies about alien races."

Cybertron,

A huge metallic sound reverberated with a piercing screech.

Wèzhèntiān's red optical sensors flickered intensely.

He raised his massive metal palm and slammed it against the chair's armrest, bursting into a roar of arrogant laughter.

"Hahaha! Well done! So well done!"

Wèzhèntiān rose to his feet, his massive frame casting a shadow. He looked down at the silent Qingtianzhu standing below.

"See that, Qingtianzhu? This is the carbon‑based lifeform you've been fighting to protect with your life!"

Wèzhèntiān pointed at the sky canopy,

"They invented morality, then used it to bind themselves."

"That hairy hybrid monkey thought it was standing on the moral high ground, only to end up shipped to the bio‑processing plant!"

Hongzizhu chimed in sharply from the side:

"The leader is right!"

"Such an idiot, willing to destroy its own species, isn't even fit to be our Decepticon slave!"

Qingtianzhu clenched his fists; the Spark's voice rumbled in his chest. He could not rebut.

Charlie's actions have even shattered the Autobots' bottom line.
