Chapter 138: [138]: [DDoS Overload.]
Sebastian stood in the center of the ruined Chicago intersection.
Two towering pillars of white light glided toward him!
They had no friction and didn’t make a single sound. They didn’t even have
footsteps or shadows!
They were just system antivirus software and they wanted to delete him.
"Boss." Wraith spoke from his crouched position behind the rusted shell of a
city bus.
The Level 25 Assassin kept his dark daggers drawn, but he knew they were useless
against pure code.
"You just crashed one of them by feeding it eighty percent of your own corrupted
error data. Your physical sync took a massive hit. You can’t just tank another
deletion beam."
"I don’t plan on tanking anything, Wraith." Sebastian replied in a calm tone.
"I’m just going to overload their inbox."
Sebastian didn’t raise his heavily concrete-encrusted Earth Sword. Physical
weapons were completely meaningless here!
Instead, he opened his glitched Admin UI. He scrolled past the god-tier spells.
He needed something annoying.
He dug into the absolute bottom of his inventory and found a Tier 0 utility
spell he had looted from a dead NPC!
[Basic Ping]
[Tier: 0 Utility Spell][Effect: Sends a tiny, harmless pulse of mana to locate a
party member within ten feet.]
It was a spell designed for players who kept getting lost.
"Hey, Clippy." Sebastian whispered to the glowing entities. "Let’s see how much
spam mail you can process."
He crushed the concept in his mind. The 10,000x Nexus Glitch aggressively woke
up!
It grabbed the tracking spell and forced it through an unhinged evolution.
[Action Registered: Cast Basic Ping.]
[Nexus Glitch Activated: Proficiency x10,000.] [Basic Ping leveled up to 10/10!
Max Level Reached!][Evolution Requirement Met. Evolves to Tier 1: Echo
Location!]
[Proficiency Overflow Detected! Evolves to Tier 3: Network Flood!] [WARNING:
Concept Threshold Breached. Information Overload Law Unlocked.]
[Network Flood
evolves to Conceptual Law: DDoS Overload.]
Sebastian raised his right hand and casually snapped his fingers.
SNAP!
There was no explosion.
There was no flashy burst of elemental fire. There was just a sudden stutter in
reality!
The two Root Sweepers froze mid-glide as their featureless white bodies began to
violently vibrate.
The[DDoS Overload] didn’t deal physical damage. It simply generated ten billion
simultaneous requests for information and crammed them into the Sweepers’
processing cores!
"Are you... are you there?" one of the Sweepers mechanically hummed, its voice
glitching into a repeating loop.
"Please unsubscribe me from this mailing list." Sebastian replied.
The two twelve-foot-tall entities couldn’t handle the traffic. Their internal
logic engines completely maxed out!
Their white light turned purple, and then they simply popped.
POP! POP!
They imploded, condensing into two glowing green cubes that dropped onto the
cracked asphalt.
THUD!
[Targets Neutralized.][Items Acquired: 2x Uncorrupted System Data]
Wraith slowly stood up from behind the bus. He looked at the two green cubes,
then at Sebastian in disbelief.
"You just killed two endgame server administrators with a networking error."
Wraith said. "You literally spammed them to death."
"It’s all about efficiency, Wraith. Work smart, not hard." Sebastian replied,
walking over and scooping up the two cubes.
He tossed them into his bottomless inventory.
"That makes three. We need ninety-seven more of these things to upgrade
Sanctuary to Tier 3."
Before Wraith could reply, the sky above Chicago violently tore open!
It wasn’t the jagged tear of an Abyssal Gate. It was a perfectly straight cut in
the clouds.
Blinding white light poured out of the heavens, illuminating the ruined city
blocks.
"I think management noticed the spam." Sebastian sighed, looking up.
Descending from the cut in the sky was not a simple Root Sweeper. It was
massive, easily the size of a five-story building!
It looked like an angel composed entirely of interlocking halos of white light
and floating green loading bars.
[Entity Identified: Root Overseer] [Class: Server Formatting Tool]
[Level: ???]
"Boss." Wraith took a slow step backward. "My UI is actively telling me to log
out. The System isn’t just trying to delete us anymore. That thing is here to
format the entire city."
"Yeah, I can see that." Sebastian grumbled.
The Overseer didn’t speak. It simply expanded its outer halo.
A massive spherical dome of white light began to wash over the skyscrapers of
Chicago. Everything the light touched reverted to a blank grey wireframe!
It was actively deleting the environment, resetting the zone to zero state. And
the wave of deletion was moving straight toward them!
"Wraith, get behind me." Sebastian ordered.
He planted his heavy boots on the asphalt. His thirty percent physical
synchronization flared to life, his muscles hardening into biological steel.
He reached into his inventory and pulled out his massive Earth Sword. It weighed
two hundred pounds, but in his hands, it felt as light as a switchblade.
"You want to format my farming spot?" Sebastian roared at the glowing entity. "I
reject your update!"
Sebastian didn’t run away from the deletion wave. He charged directly into it!
He activated his [Heavenly Steps], bypassing the physical distance. He folded
space and instantly materialized directly above the massive rings of the Root
Overseer.
The white light of the entity burned against his black leather coat. The server
aggressively tried to delete his flesh!
The pain was completely absent thanks to his deleted pain receptors, but the
strain was immense.
Sebastian raised the Earth Sword high above his head. He tapped into his
[Concept of Mass], injecting a ridiculous amount of glitched mana into the
blade.
The weapon’s weight instantly skyrocketed from two hundred pounds to fifty tons!
"Ctrl-Alt-Delete this, you overgrown glowstick!" Sebastian yelled.
He brought the fifty-ton sword down in a brutal vertical strike.
CRACK-BOOM!
The impact was absolutely catastrophic!
The concrete-encrusted blade slammed directly into the central processing core
of the Overseer. The sheer kinetic force backed by his passive completely
shattered the perfect rings of the angel.
The Overseer let out a sound like a million glass windows shattering at once!
The massive entity couldn’t handle the trauma. Its code violently splintered.
The massive rings of light snapped, raining down onto the city streets like
falling stars.
Sebastian fell with the debris, his heavy boots crashing onto the roof of a
nearby parking garage.
He watched as the Overseer’s central core violently imploded.
A spectacular shower of exactly ninety-seven glowing green Uncorrupted System
Data cubes rained down across the parking garage!
They clattered against the concrete like a jackpot payout from a slot machine.
Sebastian stood up and dusted off his coat. He looked at the mountain of green
cubes.
"Loot the drops, Wraith." Sebastian called out to the Assassin below. "We have a
base to upgrade."
