Chapter 5
The next morning, Su Li woke up early. She glanced at the clock on the wall: five o'clock in the morning.
At times like this, Gouzi would usually make her get up to go for a morning run with him.
Su Li: "..."
She wanted to beat him up a little. She had transmigrated back, but her biological clock couldn't be changed back, could it?
Su Li resigned herself to getting up, brushed her teeth, washed her face, and stuffed her toiletries into her suitcase.
Although she mostly wore her school uniform at school, because of the air conditioning, she wore a jacket on the outside and her own clothes underneath, so her suitcase was still packed with quite a few clothes.
Su Li looked at those clothes; once, little Su Li had also been the apple of Fang Lan and Su Lin's eyes.
She closed the suitcase and placed it in the corner. It was inconvenient to take it to school, so it would be better to move it over after her dormitory application was approved.
Su Li opened the door, ready to go to school. It wasn't even five-thirty yet, and the buses hadn't started running. She didn't know if she could hail a taxi. Fortunately, she had asked Gouzi for a portion of her wages yesterday.
Suddenly, the door to the room diagonally across opened, and Fang Lan walked out. She was getting up to make breakfast. Su Cheng got up at six to recite English. Little Li had never been this diligent in her studies before...
Fang Lan was slightly stunned to see Su Li carrying her schoolbag: "Little Li?"
Su Li said: "Mom, I'll eat breakfast at school."
After saying this, Su Li walked out of the house.
Fang Lan watched her calmly departing back, suddenly feeling that something was strange, as if she were about to lose something.
She shook her head; it was probably just her overthinking. She began to make breakfast.
Su Li waited at the entrance of the residential complex for five or six minutes. She was lucky and hailed a taxi that had started work early. The driver was talkative, chatting with her the whole way, and then dropped her off at school.
After Su Li finished breakfast at the School Cafeteria, she returned to the classroom. More than half of the students had already arrived. Many were whispering as they recited their lessons, and another portion were catching up on homework from last night.
Su Li glanced at the homework for each subject written on the blackboard and prepared to start catching up on yesterday's assignments. Once she had caught up enough, she would go find the teacher to say she wanted to live on campus.
As soon as she opened the math book, Su Li fell silent. The problems were familiar, but the methods to solve them seemed to have been sealed away in her brain.
After ten years of working, she completely forgot how to write them.
At times like this, she envied Gouzi's brain. Although Gouzi looked unreliable, his brain was still reliable.
Su Li resignedly did the problems while reading the book.
The number of people in the classroom gradually increased. Before the morning reading session began, almost everyone had arrived.
In Class 15.
Hu Xiao sat at his seat, chewing on a meat bun he had bought outside: "Didn't we go with Su Cheng from Class 8 yesterday to customize their class uniforms? Guess who we saw at the school gate?"
"Who?" Someone in front turned around curiously. Jiang Xiangnan was almost like a god-like existence at No. 1 High School; they couldn't reach him, but the person next to Jiang Xiangnan happened to be in their class, so by rounding up, they were also very close to Jiang Xiangnan.
Hu Xiao leaned against his chair, propping up a leg, and laughed: "Su Li from Class Thirteen."
Once these words were spoken, half the class turned around, their eyes full of shock and gossip.
"Later, Brother Jiang couldn't take it anymore. While she was vomiting at the bus station, he took us onto another bus and ditched her."
Everyone listened, dumbfounded, but thinking about it carefully, Jiang Xiangnan indeed had the capital to do that.
Hu Xiao continued: "I heard last night that Su Li even specifically moved into the dormitory. She probably wants to be closer to Brother Jiang."
"What was Jiang Xiangnan's reaction?" one person asked. It was common knowledge that Jiang Xiangnan hated people pestering him the most. In Grade 1, Su Li was the only exception, and that was only because she was Su Cheng's younger sister.
One didn't know whether to say Su Li was miserable or Jiang Xiangnan was miserable.
Hu Xiao swallowed the meat bun: "Brother Jiang, of course, ignored the news."
Those nearby nodded; that was indeed like Jiang Xiangnan's style.
Su Li was next door, flipping through books to recall knowledge points while starting to do problems to consolidate them.
To the side, Chen Xue secretly stuffed her phone back into her desk drawer, then looked at Su Li, who was catching up on homework, with complicated feelings.
"Su Li, where did you go yesterday?"
Su Li had just finished one sub-problem and asked upon hearing this: "What's wrong?"
"The people in Class 15 just asked me if you skipped class yesterday to go out with Jiang Xiangnan."
Su Li continued to do the problems slowly and replied: "I asked the teacher for a leave slip yesterday and went to Shengde High School to borrow money from a friend."
After saying this, she took out that stack of money.
"Borrowed from a friend. I happened to run into them when I left the school gate yesterday. They probably overthought it."
Chen Xue was stunned for a moment, not knowing whether to believe it or not, but her parents probably wouldn't give her so much money all at once.
"Then I'll help you reply," Chen Xue said, then secretly took out her phone again to reply to the people in Class 15.
When the people over there saw it, they said to Hu Xiao, eager to see the chaos: "The people in Class Thirteen said that Su Li went out to Shengde High School yesterday to borrow money."
Hu Xiao was slightly stunned and suddenly remembered that the terminal station of the bus Su Li took yesterday seemed to be the passenger transport terminal? After all, the starting station and terminal station were posted on the back of the bus.
Hu Xiao finished drinking the soy milk in his hand and said: "Running that far to borrow money? And can Su Li know people over there?"
That younger brother of Brother Jiang was only put in there with great difficulty by his stepmother. Those studying there weren't just students from Z City; many were from outside, aiming for prestigious foreign universities.
A few people thought about it, and it seemed to make sense.
Su Li was catching up on homework when the class representative came to collect it. She smiled awkwardly, and the class representative left expressionlessly.
Su Li breathed a sigh of relief and continued catching up. The teachers at No. 1 High School weren't particularly strict about this; they emphasized self-discipline. In the whole class, they wouldn't care if a few copies of the submitted homework were missing.
After all, everyone knew that the amount of homework assigned was a bit large and difficult to write. In a regular class, there would always be people who couldn't finish it, so they would end up catching up on yesterday's work during breaks, and then catching up on homework while listening to new content during class.
As long as they didn't copy homework, the teachers were fine with it.
Su Li secretly caught up for two periods, during which the people from Class 15 came back and forth several times.
Su Li had just finished catching up on math when the bell for the long break rang. She was just about to go find the head teacher to talk about living on campus; after all, the long break was the longest time, enough for her to handle the dormitory arrangements.
Suddenly, the people in the class stood up with a clatter and walked out. Su Li was stunned for a moment, and upon hearing the unusual bell, she finally remembered that they had to run exercises during the break.
Su Li followed them out. During the long break, each class gathered under the teaching building, lining up to prepare to start running. Su Li took advantage of the time before her class started running to quickly come out and walk to Wang Laoshi's side: "Wang Laoshi, I want to live on campus."
Wang Laoshi heard this and said: "You can. Our class still has dormitory spots that aren't full."
They happened to have two extra girls, so she could live with the people in the class.
"Let's go, I'll take you to handle the paperwork."
Su Li quickly said, "Teacher, you can just tell me who I need to find to handle it."
Wang Laoshi: "It's fine, I'll take you."
Su Li: "..."
But she still wanted to go take a look at the fourth floor of the administration building; when she and Gouzi attended the school anniversary, they had been assigned to the lounge on the fourth floor.
Gouzi, someone who didn't even study at this school, had come, so there might be something wrong with that lounge.
If he were there, it would be hard for her to pretend she had taken a wrong turn and passed by the fourth floor.
Wang Laoshi looked at the well-behaved student; he understood that students were always too embarrassed to trouble their teachers, but for a student to go to an empty place like the administration building, she might be afraid.
The classes began to run, and after Wang Laoshi led Su Li through them, he walked toward the administration building.
In Class 15, Hu Xiao saw them and quickly called out to Yu Yangfei from the class in front: "Yu Fei, look over there."
Yu Yangfei turned his head and glared at him, then looked in the direction he was pointing; seeing Su Li walking toward the administration building with a teacher, he raised an eyebrow—is she really moving in?
They were the first to run toward the playground, and the classes on the upper floors began to line up quickly; Su Cheng and Xu Lian had just started to line up when they saw Hu Xiao making faces, and then he ran off.
Su Cheng looked outward and saw Su Li walking toward the administration building with a teacher.
"Chengcheng, is she really going to live on campus?" Xu Lian always felt she wanted to keep pestering Jiang Xiangnan.
Su Cheng nodded slightly: "My mom said Su Li has already packed all her luggage, and they have already paid her boarding fees."
Xu Lian: "So urgent? Isn't it Wednesday today?"
A normal person would just wait until Monday to move in, right?
Su Cheng: "Mm."
Su Cheng looked toward the upper floors; Class 1 was at the very top, so they were slower to come out than them.
Upstairs, at the end of the corridor.
"Jiang Xiangnan, let's go." Someone called him; Jiang Xiangnan swept a faint glance at the person below preparing to go handle the boarding, intending to follow.
Ahead, that student was gossiping while walking.
"By the way, I heard my dad and my uncle chatting last night, saying our school is going to have someone transfer in temporarily."
"Oh? Let them transfer then."
"This person's situation is different; you know that Shengde over there, right? They used to be oriented toward the college entrance exam just like us, but later, because that person was coming, they changed it a few years early."
"Tsk? A young prince is coming? Why come to us?"
"Don't know, probably just here to experience it, right?"
"Running to No. 1 High School to experience it? Impressive."
Several students chatted in low voices.
Downstairs, Su Li walked with the teacher; the side of the teaching building was the administration building, and they had to pass the school gate.
Su Li looked at the large fountain at the entrance; the fountain was spraying very high, and water droplets scattered in the air, with a few drops landing on her.
Su Li: "???"
What day is it today?
The fountain is actually on?
Wang Laoshi glanced at the fountain: "It's rarely on."
Su Li nodded; she looked at the fountain again, having a strange feeling. Whenever she went to various places with Zhao Jiu, no matter where it was, as long as there was a fountain, it was always on.
Gouzi always felt that this thing was on from morning till night, but in fact, it wasn't; for example, the fountains at the entrances of various subsidiaries wouldn't spray unless important people were coming.
Su Li had a feeling that Gouzi was about to appear?
But that shouldn't be possible; he was still in class right now.
Su Li and the teacher walked inside; at this moment, a Maybach stopped at the school gate, and a teacher was waiting for him with a smile.
It was said that this child's grades were quite good over there, and he was even preparing to donate a library building.
Zhao Jiu tucked a pen away and got out of the car, looking at No. 1 High School from twelve years ago; according to the introduction from the Su Li before she transmigrated, this new campus of their school should have been built for less than five years.
"Student Zhao, the progress of the two schools is different; you transferred too urgently, and we didn't have time to produce exam papers, so we directly drew from the practice papers of the Grade 2 students."
Zhao Jiu: "It's fine."
After the entrance exam is over, I'll go find Su Li; it's been ten years, and this is the first time he hasn't been able to contact Su Li.
This feeling is a bit strange, making him sleep restlessly last night.
Zhao Jiu was led away to take the exam.
